Sigh.
I am writing this in hopes of preventing you from watching this show, or at least helping you decide about it.
This has been a truly abysmal story. Not only is the story bland, confusing, and just meaningless, but the art and animation are low-quality and consistently distracting. The basic premise of the story is how a man enters an isekai world of anthropomorphic museum relics and somehow takes up the job of curing them from a weird kind of disease while also trying to learn where it comes from. This premise is already cliché and problematic, but the show ruins it further by having a
...
boring sequence of events and relying too much on the poorly defined world which no one really cares about. For instance, there is a lot of utter gibberish about how the isekai world is based on some sort of data, brought to you by the protagonist's convenient narration that torments you at any given time! The episodes also feel slow and really choppy in terms of their connection to the overall story. As if these aren’t enough, weird stuff like a game of tetris that appears out of nowhere and spider-shaped moeblobs jumping into a giant hourglass are just there for no reason at all and definitely worsen the already bad storyline. Finally, the abrupt ending does not provide a sense of closure to the plot, instead leaving many plot holes. It is bittersweet, however, but that seems to point at lazy writing more than any intention of the producers to save the story.
Another core issue of the show: despite the supposed seriousness of its subject, it is literally a thinly-disguised harem story minus the s*x part. As you watch it, you realize that its sole focus is on collecting waifus (and bishounens) from different worlds, who eventually form this big team of cute … um... spirits or something. It's actually worse than other true harem shows because this show tries to hide this fact, as if it realizes that having the harem is something to be ashamed of. And it fails. Like a lot. The result is that the harem and the story fight for your attention, but you end up hating both.
All of these problems are truly exacerbated by the all-around terrible art and animation quality. Throughout the whole show, we can see the individual frames like it's some kind of comic instead of an animation. Characters travel in obvious straight lines and the movements of objects are stiff. The only exception to this is the CGI which looks bad anyways. The background images and the layout of scenes are basic, lazily done, and devoid of any real detail that might liven up the show a bit. Overall, the art is the most noticeable issue, something that you can notice from the onset. This problem is especially a fatal blow since the animation aspect is inherently what defines this medium and makes it special. If an animated show like this one can't even execute this aspect properly, is it still an animation? If it's not an animation, why should we, as fans of animation, watch it? This is the core reason why you should not waste your time on this show.
That was a mouthful. I think I'm tired. I'm going to just stop typing…
…
Ha! You thought wrong! I'm back with my conclusion! What is it, you ask?
Do not watch this! Everything about it is bad! Except if you just want to see the different husbando or waifu designs, of course. But everything else is bad! Only watch it if you're an animation producer and want to know what NOT to do in your work. Or if you like torturing yourself.
