Sequels that had a considerably worse reception than the first/previous seasons.

The most common causes is continuing a story that fans considered completed or a bad/rushed adaptation.

Not including reboots/remakes/alternative versions.
Not including airing seasons nor seasons from less than 2 seasons old after airing.
Not adding sequels that had a score higher than its direct prequel, no matter if its score is lower than the first season, for example:

S1: 8.5 S2: 7.4 S3: 7.6
In this case I won't add the third season.
Not adding inter-season OVAs either but adding sequel specials meant as finale.

This is NOT based on my personal opinion although I might leave it here but it won't have any influence on the scale.
This list is MAL's score-based.
With "best" season I refer to the season with the highest score.
Difference must be more than 0.50 points unless next season of a previous one that was put here has a lower score of more than 0.1

Who doesn't want a strong lead, and a female one at that? I mean, people stereotype A LOT in this day and age, so who doesn't want this type of unique character once in a while? Note: I tried to avoid shoujo romances as they are seen as common tropes, although there are some that I thought were personally good on the list.

These anime were nominated for Best Character Design in the Crunchyroll Anime Awards. Note this category did not exist for the first and second Crunchyroll Awards.

Toonami was a block in Cartoon Network Latin America created in 2002 mostly dedicated to anime, which served as the main hub of the medium in LatAm TV until its cancellation in 2007. After the block's death, anime slowly became a rarity in Cartoon Network Latin America, slowly disappear from LatAm airwaves until becoming all but extinct, with very few airing across the 2010s.

Toonami was revived in 2020 with Crunchyroll's support to air more anime in the channel, but the block would eventually die again in 2022 after Sony bought the streamer, ending its deal with Cartoon Network. Wanner Channel's Wanime block was born as a spiritual successor shortly afterwards.

That second death was not to last, as the new channel Adult Swim announced they would bring back Toonami as part of its schedule, with the Wanime block holding on until 2024 in wait of its return the same year.

Note: For obvious reasons, all Western series aired in the block, such as Justice League, won't be included in this stack.

What the title says, any anime which has over 1,000 fanfics on AO3. (Note: anime with 10,000+ fics are on their own list, so if you see anything that’s super popular that's missing, that’s why) And since the tagging system on AO3 is a bit inconsistent I made a few choices:
For anime with separate tag categories for the manga and anime adaptation, I only took the fic number for the anime entry, I did not add them together. For anime and manga which have already been lumped together under one tag I used that number.

For anime with reboots where the reboot and the original got lumped together I chose the version with the most members on myanimelist to represent it (like Fruits Basket)

For franchises which have all been lumped under one tag, I chose the earliest tv series installment of the series to represent it. (for example Gundam, or Lupin III). But if an individual installment of that franchise tagged separately also reached 1,000 fics by itself it also got included. (like Gundam Wing)
Exceptions to this rule are the Fate franchise and Yugioh, because I don’t want to make another list just to squeeze those in lmao. Here are the individual installments of those which have all reached 1,000:

This stack is for modern or relatively modern anime that are done in a nostalgic-classic style. I mean, old character designs and aesthetics, themes, tropes or formula, direct quotes homage for old animes, etc. As an option, new sequels (spin-offs) to old shows or their complete reboots for a modern audience. Or if their first adaptation at all can come true just in our times (Or if they were adapted at all for the first time only in our time).

Sequels to animes that took years to release. This list is informative and is not intended to be critical of these anime.

This stack is intended for (relatively) old cult or nostalgic anime that have received a second wind and new relevance in our time thanks to remakes, reboots, new seasons or spin-offs. For ease of reference, I will credit new inclusions in franchises with the original source, rather than the other way around.
