Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken 2nd Season Part 2

The story of Great Rimuru-sama continues. Everyone planning to watch this season should already be familiar with the story and what has already occurred. Don't read further unless you've watched previous seasons.

But I'll show my kindness and give ya'll a short summarization. The second part of season two starts immediately where the first part ended. Rimuru is on a quest to get revenge for the attack that happened in the previous part.
(You know, where a lot of villagers got "killed" and immediately resurrected because it's an unforgivable act to let characters die, according to the author.)

However back to the genuine "review" if you could ... even call it that, since the season is nowhere near finished at the point of writing this.
But I actually enjoyed the first season, but I have to be honest and say it's really been a downfall for the series as a whole. When the story changed focus from trying to build up a village and its people. To instead switch the focus on becoming just another overpowered isekai protagonist with a personification of mashed potatoes endeavoring to be an edgelord, to preserve its poor people in an act of revenge.

I can more or less guarantee that this season will be more heavily fixated on the action and the rivalries among the demon lords. It is safe to surmise more demon lords will get introduced and we'll learn more about them.

Well, it's too early to really tell if it will succeed or not, however. I'm starting to lose patience as I think the pacing has been really awful since the start of the season. But only time could tell if any of the problems I have with the show will get solved or complete the opposite and end as another generic isekai that didn't live up to its expectations.

Do I recommend this season? Well, if you didn't like the first two seasons then I think this is the time to drop the series. But if you enjoyed the previous installments you should give it a try and watch it for yourself and form your own opinion.

Tensura Season 2 Part 1 went out on a relatively high note, and the hype for the continuation was real. This was my most anticipated summer anime of 2021.

I am in shock and awe over what a disappointment it’s been.

Story: 1/10

At the end of S2P1, it was clear that Rimuru would be spending the next arc taking down the antagonist, Clayman. The stage is set for an epic war between demon lords. Episode one rolls around, and the entirety is spent with the main, supporting, and minor characters talking it out. Okay, fair enough, it is the first episode, so it’s alright to spend ... it setting up the epic action teased to come.

Then the second episode’s credits roll, and wouldn’t you know it, Rimuru and his pals are still talking it out in Tempest.

Then the third episode’s credits roll… and the fourth’s…

Wouldn’t you know it, we’re six entire episodes in and there has been no demon lord showdown as promised, but a whole lot of talking heads. If I wasn’t already three cours into this show, it would be an easy drop for this absolute travesty of pacing alone.

Action finally starts with the seventh episode, but it amounts to little more than dick-measuring contests of power levels. No threat Rimuru’s underlings face are enough to create even an in-universe sense of urgency. As viewers, that’s one thing, but when the characters themselves show this level of apathy, why are we watching them? It’s the story equivalent of beating the stuffing out of early-game enemies after beating the final boss of a video game… but for entire episodes. It’s as senseless as it is boring.

Speaking of Rimuru… what in the actual nine circles of hell was that Clayman fight? Episode ten ends with getting our hopes up with the promise of finally(!!) delivering the epic Clayman fight we were promised, and then the writing comes in and smashes the tiny strand of tension the narrative had finally managed to build up in favor of an episode worth of braindead sitcom gags that have no place in the middle of any fight sequence, much less to the death. This is paired with one of the dumbest plot reveals I’ve ever seen in my anime-watching career. Tension looks like it’s going to come back… and then evaporates moments later, rinse and repeat for as long as the airtime needs to fill the time slot. The sheer audacity of this entire trainwreck of bad writing is enough to put Tensura S2P2 alongside the very worst dregs of cheap cash-grabbing isekai properties.

Art: 3/10

I can’t in good conscience give the art anything high when so much of the show has been the cast sitting around and talking with the enthusiasm of a cold bologna sandwich. While no animation jumps out as janky or mismatched, I know what Tensura is capable of showing us, and so I can’t help but be disappointed.

At this point, the new character designs a have lost their charm as well. No more monsters for us, part of the selling point of the original imho, just generic mass-produced bishonen and bland waifus. The demon lords could have been really cool, but instead they have been designed as generically attractive human(oid)s in generic outfits designed to market sex appeal. It’s disappointing that this once-beloved anime has fallen so low.

Sakuga might have made Tensura worth watching despite the atrocious state of its story. Unfortunately, there is very little, if any. Even the fight scenes somehow feel as comparatively devoid of life as the strategy room scenes. The best sakuga is found in the OP and ED sequences; speaking of which, why the slight updates halfway through the show? It’s not like it was particularly spoilery, so was it just not animated in time for the release, or what?

Sound: 4/10

The OP and ED are okay. The rest of the soundtrack is nothing to write home about. The voice acting is hammy, but not as horrible as the other aspects of this show. Actors can only do so much with the script they’re given, after all. In that regard, the VAs are the most impressive aspect of the show. Thanks for trying, VAs, but you couldn’t save this one.

Character: 1/10

The cast has undergone sitcom-ification. The script has never been Tensura’s strong suit. With a dearth of action scenes, any potential character of Rimuru’s posse has been killed in favor of unfunny jokes and tired cliches. Veldora suffers from this the worst, going from an intimidating dragon of few words to an insufferable buff bishie who’s about as intimidating as any character whose purpose is to be the butt of jokes.

Clayman, the villain, is basically Baby’s First Antagonist. He’s as one dimensional as they come. Considering the arc focus is supposed to be between him and Rimuru, it’s extremely disappointing. If we have to be stuck in talking-head limbo, why not explore his motivations beyond being an evil, power-grabbing stereotype?

Clayman is so transparently evil, arrogant, and abrasive to everyone(!) that it makes one wonder why none of the other demon lords have put him in his place. He feels like the author tried to evoke Roswaal from Re:Zero on a surface level, without the love and care that made Roswaal a compelling character. After being hyped up as an antagonist for so long, calling this a disappointment is an understatement.

The other demon lords come off as a mix of arrogant as well as dumber than a sack of rocks, which is a combination of traits as odd as it is infuriating to watch for characters that are supposedly the cream of the crop. It comes off not as regal or powerful, but as an attempt to make the lowest common denominator of the audience feel smart. It’s hard to have respect for them as characters.

Seriously, Tensura… it’s been a while since I’ve been so uninvested in a major faction reveal of all things. Not a single new demon lord is worth singling out to write about. There’s a certain level of horrid writing you have to reach to kill that kind of natural hype.

Enjoyment: 1/10

I enjoyed the original Tensura immensely. It has a charm to it that I still believe sets it apart from your mixed bag of the seemingly endless amount of Isekai anime series churned out every seasonal cour, copycatting each other in an ouroboros of bad writing. S2P1 departed from the feel-good vibe of the original season in favor of edge, yet for all its controversy, I found it to be a strong enough and satisfying sequel.

This one, though…

I knew Tensura jumped the shark the moment Veldora began guffawing at manga in what was otherwise a high-profile political meeting, but I was determined to see it through to the end. Despite this, I couldn’t have anticipated how much worse the show got. I expected the show to throw me a bone, a reason to keep watching besides the sunken costs of having watched the earlier seasons. It never happened.

Regarding any potential future seasons of Tensura, I would much rather watch an obvious bargain bin isekai anime where things actually happen than listen to the Rimuru Simp Squad kiss ass to their idol with just enough drip-feeding of plot to bait me into watching again next week, only to be let down again by more sitting and talking, a smattering of unhumorous, forced gags, and maybe watch someone gloat about their power levels if we’re lucky.

If you enjoyed the previous Tensura seasons, do yourself a favor and pretend like S2P1 was the series finale and S2P2 never got funded.

If that isn’t enough to stop you, at least turn it into a drinking game. Maybe the alcohol will help wash the bad taste of the writing out of your mouth.

Overall, 2 out of 10.

So i came into this series as a big fan and i'm leaving as someone who is completely done with Tensura, i'll never read the novels, never rewatch any of the anime and while i managed to finish episode 11 to watch even one more episode is just too much to ask.

And here the problem: This series is a absolute pisstake!

Now the main issue, as others have mentioned, is the first 6 episodes are just filled with nothing but talking (the majority of which is all done in just one location and by just one group of people). But what others have failed to mention ... (at least the reviews i've read) is that the talking done within the first 4 episodes is exclusively about things we already know! 4 episodes, FOUR, are basically used as the catch up for what happened in the previous half of this season!

Episodes 5 and 6 at least go into new territory with their talking (discussing what's going to happen rather than what has happened) but by that point all the good will and excitement that i had from the previous half of this season had been completely destroyed and i simply could not bring myself to care!

This was all compounded by the fact that the show continues to insist on using every opportunity it can to unleash it's tired and cliched "jokes" upon us. I've never found Tensura's comedy funny, cause i've seen it all so many times before, but i never minded until now when it feels so much like they're just doing it to waste our time.

On top of all of this is the continuing problem that none of the characters (outside of Rimuru himself) receive any kind of development or even possess any actual depth to them. The cast continues to be the very same one note characters they were when we were first introduced to them. Now this issue is exasperated by the fact that the cast is huge so most of them get little time on screen and are largely left uninvolved in things. But this issue is particularly galling when the show decides to waste at least 4 episodes telling you what you already know when they could've instead explored some of these characters or given them something to actually do other than make lame cliched jokes!

Finally Rimuru himself has suffered from a sort of character assassination this season. The tension of events is supposed to be high and very serious (his city was attacked, many of his friends killed, they're all going to war, he himself is going to face off against his opponent as well as numerous powerful individuals who may decide to kill him) and yet he doesn't seem to care. He's just arsing around makin' terrible jokes, laughing off important developments, ignoring warnings, behaving inappropriately in front of foreign delegates, and basically treating the entire thing (and world) like he's a kid and it's some sort of game. Gone is the character which, tho unsure of himself at times, you could believe to be an inspiring and competent ruler. Heck during the main confrontation he even goes so far as to interrupt and ignore Raphael, his greatest and most critical tool, 3 times despite the severity of the consequences should he fail!

And it's that that's made me quit Tensura entirely. No longer is the main character someone i'm interested in who i want to see succeed. Rather he has become the instrument that tells me that none of this matters, that the events unfolding are meaningless, that the characters around him aren't worth caring about, and that the world itself is just a worthless waste of time. Cause if he doesn't care enough to take it seriously when it should matter why should i?

Well it was that and the first 4 episodes... what the heck were they thinking a FOUR EPISODE RECAP?!!!

TLDR; I don't like the second part of season 2. A ton of build up for nothing.

I was insanely hyped after the first part of season 2. After slime boy became a Demon Lord, I thought, man its all up from here. I guess I was wrong.

From reading the comment sections and stuff the best parts people like is how absolutely ridiculous, characters act in serious moments, aka the comedy (I'm looking at you Veldora). I assumed, from the general tone of the first season and the first part of the second season that this wasn't going to be a comedy anime. It has ... some funny moments sure but thankfully it never felt like the main objective of any episode. This "part" however has been boring and has had an extreme focus on comedy. I enjoyed the lighthearted nature of season 1 and having that escalate into a dark showdown of revenge was extremely compelling. However.....nothing.

The story feels boring, the characters feel boring, the scenes that are supposed to be epic, intense, and heart wrenching...boring. All the emotion that was built up at the end of season one and season 2 part one has been lost. I don't mind having a super OP main character, if you at least make a villain of similar strength. Something that still gives the fight meaning even though u know the MC is going to win anyways.

For me this second part was a huge step down and I feel like I've wasted my time. I can only hope the final episode provides a little bit of satisfaction and maybe next season improves/goes back to the more serious tone with only small bits of humor thrown in. Honestly this "part" feels like they got stuck in writing the Slime Diaries and forgot to stop.

Update: The final episode did nothing.

Half of season is boring, full with bla bla bla talk that they could use like 2 episodes for this but no they have to use half of it or more.
They could make OVA for this boring episodes. but no we have to know every characters what they think.
It is in manga we have to give it full episodes for pointless talk because the producer dont know how to make a anime episode.
It is not worth the money for subscription.
Episode 6 have interesting things but first 5 are pointless.
If i wanted to see diplomacy and things like that i have tv that i dont know ... wen i turned on last time.

I have not written any reviews for any of the previous seasons cause I think the story content and overall execution was fine but for this particular part 2 of the season, its really bad. Ignoring the fact that this is basically another season for an ongoing series, the actual content explored in the story is not worth a 12 episode season.

Spoilers ahead but compared to so many other shows out there, who enjoys a season that amounts to 6 episodes of pure debating and then followed by some one sided action with no in universe tension. It is cathartic to see one sided fights ... but that only works when there is tension to go along with it. What make it so satisfying is seeing someone get their just desserts that deserves it and that does happen here but its the only thing that happens this season. The last half of the season is someone slowly getting their asses handed to them for 6 episodes.

I have to say this season has been overall uneventful and could have chosen to tighten up the pacing and focus on potentially more interesting content instead of dedicating so much time to slowly exploring the clayman plotline.

This review is directed at Season 2 Part 2 only and not Part 1.

To start off, let me just say that Part 1 was very good, it was suspenseful, action-packed and just all around a very good first half of Season 2.
Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Part 2.

The past 12 episodes have been boring and mundane. I get that in the LN, this Clayman arc was supposed to be a plot build-up but I really cannot believe that the fun action-packed Tensura that I love so much spent the first 4 episodes literally talking.

After many episodes just spent talking, right when I ... was led to believe that some action was going to happen, I was just met with utter disappointment at the poorly animated and poorly choreographed fight. You would think if an anime like Tensura made you literally crave for an epic battle by keeping you from any action whatsoever would lead to an epic build up for a grand scale war that would stay your hunger for action in one fell swoop. I was wrong.

Not only was that "grand scale war" which they spent 2 episodes talking about absolutely anticlimactic and boring, the little fight scenes we were given weren't even close to a quarter as good as Season 1 and Season 2 Part 1.

Now you ask, why am I so mad about this?
You spent 4 weeks producing 4 episodes with minimal movement, minimal scenery change and the only thing moving is the characters' mouth.
After 4 weeks, you lead on with the first action scene which has been talked about for the past 4 episodes
ONLY TO WITNESS AN ANT WAR

On a grander scale of things, this entire part was mainly surrounding this massively hyped up festival called Walpurgis where you get to meet the great demon lords of the Tensura universe.

Yes well, thank you for that long and not so grand introduction to the great and mighty demon lords but what's the point of the past 9 episodes again?

Oh yea, Clayman..
I have to admit, the fight with Clayman had its moments no matter how few but come on... Are you seriously telling me that's it?

Okay so yea, Clayman is gone, what now? Nothing?
Wait maybe lets throw in a 15 second scene to "foreshadow" for next season.

Alright done, so is that it? We just spent 75% of the entire Part 2 having the characters talk with their awesome voices and introducing them barely. That's all right?

YES THAT'S ALL, THE END

But make sure to remember that we made Veldora use Hadouken and Kamehameha so you should be happy with this part okay?

On a more serious note, apart from the epic monologues and atrociously lacking animation quality that seemingly took a dumpster dive after Part 1, I do know that the anime didn't have much to work with as I have heard that this arc, even in the LN was quite boring. I just hope that if we get renewed for Season 3, I'd be getting some much needed action and an actually fun-to-watch season that is consistent throughout.

What we need is consistency, talking is fine but you must have a balance. You don't spend episode after episode just talking, especially after such a splendid first half which set a benchmark for high expectations...
Only to disappoint those expectations you have established for yourself.

I am infuriated right now.

When I first started Slime, I was skeptical at first, but to me the first season was a neat idea executed decently well, and the second season kind of surprised me with how far it was willing to push the boundaries of the show. I binged all of it in like a day and arrived at this season 2 part 2 almost excited. But it was a huge let down. I understand that with covid, there are struggles and certain things should be tolerated, but the fact that at the writing of this review, this season sits at an average score ... of 8.40 is not people being nice, its people being blind.

The strength of Slime has always been its concept, its characters, and its tact for switching being serious and laid back themes. To summarize my ideas on the first two seasons, I thought the first season's fight scenes left much to be desired and that the last chunk of it felt very rushed in, but was a unique spin on the genre that showed a lot of promise. Season 2 part 1 did well to add depth to the last part of the previous season, and while the pacing had not improved much the story was a lot more interesting since the crisis the characters were going through actually felt abundantly real. There were good twists and a lot of things that I did not expect out of a show like this, so I was pleasantly surprised.

This latest season retains none of these good points. It should have been easy enough to build upon the high point that season 2 part 1 ends on, keeping the plot advancing and setting up the stakes. Instead, it hits the brakes HARD for almost the first SEVEN episodes to dump a stupid amount of dialogue and set up that could have been and should have been done with half the time. There are moments where characters will establish important points in the story to the viewer, then stall, then establish those same points to the viewer again just with different characters present. However, when all this setup was done the result was great no?

Wrong. What the first part of this cour is trying to setup up is essentially just fight scenes. All of this show boils down to conflict, which would have been fine if this show's fight scenes weren't TERRIBLE. I thought that those jokes and images of animes where the characters will stop fighting to have a nice long conversation in between was gone with the times, but this show brings that back. I get that this is a much more laid back isekai, and that it should not be taken as seriously, but the previous season sure made it feel like it wanted to be taken seriously. Furthermore, it is impossible to deny that the writers were trying to build up the conflicts in this show really badly, so if it was supposed to be a laid back story, they should have just not.

What also makes these fights so draining are the characters, which I actually like. On the surface, all of them look like characters that appeal well, almost like they are engineered in an isekai lab to be as accessible to the masses as possible. However some of them-especially the new ones-aren't that bad, and I would have liked to see them fight and develop. Instead, the show will cut to them before the fight starts, have them talk a bit with their opponent, then right before the fight happens it cuts away. Then it cuts back to the characters AFTER THE FIGHT HAS TRANSPIRED? Are you kidding me? One of them is just sent away to another part of the world. Come on, we just got that guy!

However, the biggest problem with my enjoyment came from the amount of pushovers in this season. Villains that have been built up over the course of the whole franchise are either just obliterated or are not even evil in the first place. There are also also a lot of twists that just do not hold the same weight or impact as the twists in the first cour and just come off as super lame. Come on guys, a character just utterly destroying something that was proclaimed to be incredibly strong in one attack is not impressive, and it doesn't show off or build good character. It shows off and builds fake characters. I WANT to see these characters show off their growth, I WANT to see these characters struggle in evenly matched fights and grow, I WANT to see the intricacies of the fighting styles of other characters. What I don't want to see is a bunch of stupid dialogue, a character just breathing on a big villain and killing them, or people talking about how impressed they are or them saying "Heh, that's just how he is" WHEN IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE TO HAVE A GOOD GRASP ON HIS STRENGTH WHEN HE JUST GOT THAT STRENGTH.

This show pisses me off man, 3/10.

The strengths of a show like Slime is it's wacky characters that you don't stick around long enough for it to sink in that they are shallow and very little more than their tropes and it's unique premise and plot progression which also needs to not stick around long enough for it to sink in how bare bones and straight forward it is.

Also it has amazing art and animation

The first season was amazing, because it introduced it's wacky characters and immediately moved on to the next set as well has having a unique premise. The second season part 1 introduced several interesting plot points that ... kept coming one after another.

Season 2 part 2 has not even gotten to it's first plot point in 5 episodes. It tries to be smart, but nothing can be taken seriously. Not even anyone in the show is taking anything seriously. It's obvious that there's no stakes, because that's the point. It's obvious that they're not going to use a smart or interesting way to solve their situation, because that's the point. Then why are you pretending like there's going to be one for 5 episodes? Then there's the humor which it tries to pad out the nothingness that's about as funny as roshi sexually harassing 13 year old bulma in dragon ball or any number of MC's in harem shows landing on women's boobs or vag. It completely detracts from every scene that it shows up in. But, in the previous seasons, these weren't big issues because the next plot point or the next set of wacky characters showed up fast enough to keep your interest.

tl;dr This season has been 140 minutes of the weaknesses of slime isekai

What happened?

When a show goes into a slump, you remember the parts that you really enjoy. So, is it the comedy? The characters? The story? The action? The fanservice?

Sorry. Unless your answer was, "a lot of meaningless dialogue", you're out of luck. The characters have all taken a back seat, Rimuru is One Punch Man, the story is boring and dumb, and the production is so crappy that even the fanservice just seems forced and impotent. It's like your grandma trying to act out an anime for you, it's sweet but dear lord I just can't. Maybe I'll give this series another chance someday.

Watching this season made me realize that if you ONLY kind of enjoyed the first season and second season part 1 (like you gave them 4-6 ratings), then you're likely not going to enjoy this season (at least not the first couple episodes). I am one of those people that only watched it for the sake of watching and although I wasn't turned off completely, I also found both seasons painfully average. What I'm saying if you aren't already a hardcore fan before you got here, you're probably not going to enjoy this very much (I'll only say this for the 4 episodes I saw).

Episodes ... 1 to 4 have been nothing but meetings and political talk, intersected by comedy bits and unnecessary chit chat. It's like I'm trying to focus on the politics of it all and there's just a bunch of noise everywhere. Someone has to make a comedy comment every other minute or something, and yes, wow complaining about the comedy in an anime that has comedy as a genre, shoot me for saying any of this, but my problem is the comedy is so contrived at this point. Is it really necessary to add a useless joke in the middle of political talk? Personally it was distracting and didn't add anything to the main point, which is to have the political talks and plan what the heck they need to do.

I could go on but I'll just be ranting. I'll cut it short by saying perhaps tone down and focus on what needs to be focused. Most characters are still VERY flat and barely developed. Rimuru himself has upgraded but he's still a bland character overall, personality wise. And finally, it shouldn't take 4 episodes to talk about a plan as simple as the one they came up with. There's only 12 episodes this season, a little more than 30% was spent on TALKING in ONE setting. They really pulled out a calculus book to solve 2+2. Think about using time wisely.

I never write a review until I am extremely disappointed or I am extremely impressed by the show or a movie.

in this case it is the former, I'm extremely disappointed. This season literally proves that this show will never take itself seriously and there will be no real consequences.

Our main character just got the power of resurrection. So obviously there is no real threat of any side characters dying, So Yeah there is no stake in this anime. Many other shows like Dragon Ball already have a similar thing going for them, so it is not something new but at least those anime have some ... sense of build-up and tension. The problem of the Reincarnated as a Slime is meaningless buildups and fake tension, let me give you an example.

One of the strongest entity in this anime known as Milim she was being controlled by the evil mastermind known as Clayman, almost 2 seasons were burnt in showing this. long story short Milim committed lots of atrocities while she was under mind control and our main cast tried everything to stop the matter from getting worst. If nothing else, I thought at least this struggle was real but no here comes The lame-ass twist, Milim was just trolling she was never under the mind control, so she was never really the threat. So many episodes wasted building up that Milim is the only one who can kill the main character Rimuru, Yes he has the power to resurrect others but that doesn't mean a Jack shit when he himself dies. At least I thought there was some sense of threat for the main character Rimuru, but in the end that was also false.

Our main characters can't die, There is no real threat, The plot doesn't take itself seriously and Most build-ups are fake. So only thing that is left here is shallowness.

Also, how the hell did I forget to talk about the constant monologuing. Look talking isn't bad, but when you repeat yourself, again and again, it's not only gets irritating, but it also wastes the time of the viewer. It makes you think this show considers its audience stupid, most of the episodes were wasted because they had no substance to talk, Yet they kept blabbering nonstop for no reason.

I really don't understand how this show has a score of 8.4. it seems like nowadays standards are going down. So many mediocre anime reaching the upper echelon of 8 points.

This part 2 is straight-up disappointing. From episode 1 to 6, they are just discussions and a lot of talking, which is fine by me, I already watched tons of shows that's just pure talk and less action, so I understand what they are trying to do. But, the build up from episode 1 to 6 didn't justified the remaining episodes.

Clayman was supposed to be a big boss for Rimuru to take, but he's just simply an annoying piece of trash. His character really wasn't likeable and in terms of power-scaling, he's just a garbage. I thought he's going to put up a ... good fight through arguments and of course also in battle against Rimuru. The last two episodes were the most underwhelming shit I've ever seen. People were talking about this, memeing and hyping this anime so I thought there is something big that will happen. I sat through 12 episodes and I only got pissed off on what are the results of the Walpurgis Arc.

Milim's pretending to be controlled by Clayman was the dumbest shit this anime came up to. She was the only thing that Clayman has against Rimuru and the turnout of the events just made him look like the useless piece of shit he is. He didn't put up a fight, he just lied althroughout the meeting. I really had great expectations on what's about to happen but it really let me down in the end. What a waste of time seriously.

While the last season of slime was really disappointing, the last few episodes gave me hope for the next season. Well it seems I was wrong.

Episodes 1 - 6:
Just like in the last season, nothing happens in these episodes. Instead of actually progressing the plot, they attempt to talk about the politics of this world and completely fail. Its like watching the council of rivendell writen by a self learing AI. Here are some of the highlights:

1) In the last season Rimuru completely massacred a whole army leaving no survivor and consuming their souls or some shit. This reminded me of the Massacre at Kazte ... Plains from overlord. In that show it was a big wake up call for the enitre world that they need to do something about Ainz. In this show the other kings congratulate Rimuru on leaving no survivors so they can pretend the whole thing never happened. One of these kings who is completely OK with covering up war crimes later decides that he needs to be sure that Rimuru, the guy who caused said war crimes, will use his power for good. Rimuru says he will and he just accepts it. The show essentially refuses to accept that Rimuru did anything wrong. Its just bizzare.

2) In the last season Rimuru got randomly attacked by this chick he never even met before and she just decided to use the nuclear option on him. Somehow Rimuru doesnt figure out he should probably do something about this extremely dangerous individual who can wipe entire cities with no effort. One of his underling even brings it up and wants to go kill her. Rimuru just decides it will be fine and does nothing about her. How is this guy still alive is beyond me.

Rest of the season:
The plot finally kicks in and its like even the charactrs dont really give a shit. There were quite a few fights, yet they all left me fealing empty. I was finally starting to feel something in the last 3 episodes and then the show decided to completely pull the rug from under me with one of the worst plot twists I have ever seen. I saw the whole thing from miles away yet I still wanted to believe they wouldnt go with something this fucking stupid and again, I was wrong.

So this is it for me. This season was probably even worse than the last one and when the next one comes out, I will be watching just to see how bad a show can get before it gets cancled.

Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken 2nd Season Part 2


At first, the Slime anime really captivated me, although the setting was overused, this show had appeal and charisma. With the constant growth of Rimuru and his empire, you could see how the protagonist deals with different scenarios in this world and what alliances he makes.

Unfortunately, this was implemented in a worse and more monotonous way over time, making it almost a running gag.

And Part 2 is no exception. 6/12 episodes refer only to slice-of-life moments and various gatherings and meetings where the protagonists made their plans. Unfortunately, there was no tension whatsoever, nor were ... these episodes entertaining in any way. It comes down to the same thing over and over again. Rimuru sits around with his "Thehe" reaction, new nobles or kings arrive, see how overpowered Rimuru's circle of friends is, and break out in shock. This is repeated 20x and then we have the entire season 2 already chopped off.

Whereas in the first season the focus was still mostly on the alliances and the characters had various moments of brilliance, here it's just hot air.

And to make it worse, the whole war with the demon king Clayman was a drag. No dynamics, no tension, and no creativity. Only the last scene in the season with Laplace was actually interesting to see how much the antagonists actually feel for each other.

This anime honestly reminds me more and more of Overlord, only that the characters have become equally empty, but instead, the world and the supporting characters can hardly convince.

Although the first season seemed like a humorous star of hope for this hackneyed setting, by the end of the first season I realized that the quality could never be maintained. And unfortunately, it happened as I feared. The second season doesn't even have one quality point to call it above average, but several negative ones to do the opposite.

It's a shame because I really liked the first season.

Why is this so trash nothing is even happening im so confused rn this show has taken a turn the last two seasons were actually good but these episodes are boring... But who nows maybe they are extending the episodes for one giant episode which covers everything bad in this anime but i doubt that after.. nvm i finished all episode it was shit and it was boring as hell. Ok so I need to write a bit longer rewivew but in summary dont watch the epiosdes i just finished the whole series its really bad compared to its counterpart.

The only reason this season is rated highly is likely because of the sunk cost fallacy associated with people wasting away hours of low-quality buildup for the most disappointing climax in history.

Story: You would think this season would have a great story after seeing the entire storyline from last season right? Wrong. The show literally spends half the season including boring conversations that literally could have been offhandedly mentioned to save viewers the boredom. Like seriously, it felt like the producers decided to group up all of the buildup over these past seasons and go "Let's just throw these characters in and see what ... happens." 3/10.

Art: The art is pretty great and endearing. It does seem like they cheaped out a bit on the animations prior to the climax of this season, but I would still give it the same score I've given every other season of this show. 8/10.

Sound: No complaints here, but nothing immensely outstanding either. 8/10

Characters: The cast of this show basically carried the season. The introduction of a prominent character at the start of the season was awesome and really paid off by the end. I disliked how some of the cast from the past was used as some sorts of fanservice, but taking source material into account, I would imagine it was still a faithful adaptation. 10/10.

Enjoyment: Enjoyment of this show is completely carried by the viewers' passion for the characters in the show. Had I not loved some of these characters, the show wouldn't have been as enjoyable as it was at the very end. 6/10.

Overall: The caveats of this show with the bad story and poor buildup place this at a 3/10 for me. DISAPPOINTMENT.

After what I consider being an amazing first part what Slime part 2 deliver is a dreadful series of disappointments.
Contrary to the hecticness we found until now, the second part is all about build up and pay off. We spend most of the episodes watching Rimuru carefully analyzing the current state of affairs and having new characters introduced and so it seems like the board was carefully set, too bad we don't have a game but a massacre.
It is impossible to doubt for even one second what the outcome will be. I'm sure this all was supposed to be a cathartic moment where scumbag ... evil guy would finally get what he deserves, but it all seems so half-assed and careless constructed that it just produced a deep feeling of frustration. Fight scenes? Bad. Newly introduced villains that are discarded in one episode? Bad. Dialogue? Terrible. 9 episodes planning? Unnecessary and futile. Honestly, you really need to love Slime to chew and swallow this.

Story:

5 episodes on a meeting that should've taken 5 minutes. Appalling. I spent 5 weeks waiting for a new episode but got hit with the same thing for 5 weeks.

Art:

The best thing going for it so I have to give it something.

Sound:

... I don't even remember it so it wasn't bad. Very mediocre and forgettable.

Character:

Quantity over quality. You can't even remember half the character names.

Enjoyment:

Overall:

Mid. Nothing going for it. Had so much potential but wasted it. Character development is terrible or nonexistent, the plot is scarce, and 5 episodes on a meeting. Longer than a whole cultural festival arc. Meeting arc mid.

the show follows the trend of the previous seasons, rimuru's faction stomping everyone and recruiting followers, this time he got his most powerful asset yet (veldora) the anime keeps exploring the world building which is nice but, what's the point? everything is too easy, everyone just seems to agree with rimuru's plans and barely few are a threat to his faction. the anime is getting to a stalemate where everything is too predicatble since they never lose or die (as show in the previous part where he ressurects everyone who died in the last battle) and there doesnt seem to be anything new that moves ... the story forward.

can't avoid to not mention how atrocius those first 5 episodes where, 90% of the cast is just sitting in the same room talking about future/past events, horrible.
