JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 5: Ougon no Kaze

Let me just start by saying this was far and away the worst part of jojo yet and I wasn't a huge fan of the first two parts. We’ve reached the end and I still don’t have a good understanding of what the characters goals were. Let’s just jump into the story and get this shit behind us and look forward to Jolyne.

The story to this part was just terrible. Never before has the 2 episode, fight, arc, formula been so painful to get through. I think the reason this formula worked in part 4 was because half the time the “enemy” stand wasn’t ... even trying to kill the heroes. Also there’s nothing as outrageous as a ghost alley way or a tower stand in part 5. It’s all just dudes with stands (was there a single female enemy stand user? I don’t remember). I think the reason the formula worked in part 3 is because those heroes were a bit more fleshed out, comedy worked better, they had a clear goal and progression chart, and there was a set number of enemies we knew we were going to encounter. In part 5, it’s just a bunch of immediately forgettable enemies like fishing rod guy, or I-have-to-die-for-my-stand-to-even-activate guy. All of these enemy users blend together and there is no sense of achievement in the heroes beating them, because another dude just pops up. Also this is the first JoJo where the heroes are the ones that antagonize the villain. The boss isn’t doing anything notably evil except hiding his identity. He only starts sending people at them when they try to find out who he is. I’ll just lump the character category in here because there isn’t much talk about with them. I think Giogio wanted to become the mafia boss and zipper dude wanted to become the boss and get rid of drugs or something. I’ve spent 39 episodes with these characters and those are the only things I can tell you about two of the characters motivations. The other MC’s were just stupid mafia henchmen that happened to tag along with the two real MC’s. Most of the time these henchmen were useless and just got in the way.

The art is a mixed bag. The character designs and stand designs are obviously fabulous. However, the background art at all times looks either bland or ugly.

The stand sfx and ED’s are the only things really saving the sound category here. I didn’t like any of the OP’s and skipped them most of the time which used to be a sin for jojo. But these ops were boring and part 5s best never even touched part 4’s worst.

Overall, I’m sure that if you like jojo you’ll watch this part anyway. I could not imagine having to binge this part and am glad that I only had to watch 1 episode at a time. Otherwise, it would have gotten very exhausting. I would never have dropped the show though. Even if I wanted to, I know I would have come back and finished it like I did for part 2. But in the grand scheme of anime, I would not recommend this part be watched.

To summarize it, a big disappointment.
When I started Vento Aureo, I expected it to be the best part of JoJo's. The hype was huge, the characters were lovable and David Production gave us an amazing animation. I'm gonna give it to DP, they did a fantastic job with the anime, gave us amazing OSTs and OPs, but unfortunately they couldn't fix all of Araki's mistakes. If I were to review the manga, I would give it a 2 or 1 overall.

Spoilers ahead:

Vento Aureo introduce us Giorno Giovanna, son of Dio (as well as Jonathan Joestar, but Araki forgot about his existence after part 3), a ... japanese-italian 15-year-old boy who, as he always says, has a dream. His motivations are kind of weird. When he was a child, he met a gangster, who helped him and improved his life. Because of that, Giorno believes he can take over a huge mafia and stop their drug traffic. Besides being so smart, he never thinks that his childhood hero might be one of the guys who sold drugs to children that he wants to stop so much. Also, trying to stop illegal business in such a big organization wouldn't be so easy as to "just kill the boss", but I'm gonna ignore it for the sake of the story.

Giorno himself might be the biggest problem I've found in this anime. From episode one to the end, he is a Gary Stu. His stand, Gold Experience, is the most buffed of all of the series' protagonists. In all of his fights, he defeats the enemy too easily, without ever getting to struggle, also thanks to his overpowered knowledge. Josuke was 16 and Jotaro was 17 in their parts and they were both smart, but they often made mistakes, and that's not Giorno's case, since he always knows all that the enemy is doing and how to defeat it, like if he was an humanized Wikipedia or something.

The only fight that he had a real problem was against Notorious B.I.G, and even that wasn't a big deal for him. Again comparing him to other protagonists, Josuke had a healing ability but couldn't use it on himself, Jotaro almost died stopping his own heart to play dead, and Joseph, besides all of his wacky solutions to everything, he had his hand cut off and spent the rest of his life with a mechanical one because of it. Giorno, however, lost both of his arms, and he just made new ones like it was nothing.

As to finding absurd, wacky solutions to deal with his enemies, Giorno reminds me of Joseph. But Joseph at least did it for the sake of humour, and it was amazing to watch. With Giorno it's just... boring. Another fault I find in Giorno is his lack of personality, as he is often unexpressive and doesn't show a trait of character. Also, he is son of Part 1's main character and Part 1 and 3's main villain, and that would be a big thing, but it's treated in the most "whatever" way possible.

As for the rest of the characters, I liked some a lot, disliked some others, but I'm gonna talk just how they were treated.

The most wronged one was Fugo, who had only one fight in the entire anime and then was just discarded, because Araki gave up on him. In the beginning of the Grateful Dead and Beach Boy arc, he expressed his feelings about Trish, showing that he cares about her. But when the time to betray Passione comes, he totally dismisses her. Same with Bruno, who helped him for years, and now he suddenly forgets about his loyalty and all he got from him. The original idea was to make Fugo a traitor, and I believe that's a even worse turn of events for a character who was built as loyal to his friends and cared about them.

Also, I have to mention the lines "We don't know what kind of music Trish likes" as Fugo's point to not betray the gang, and Narancia's "Trish is me", ridiculous.

Talking about music, I've got to say the OST from this part was as amazing as the others. David Production really knows how to make awesome music, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has the best ones I've ever heard in all anime.

As for Trish, I really liked her, but she was very mistreated. Like Fugo, she only had a single fight and used her stand twice during the entire 39-episode span. I guess she only stayed together with the group for the sake of fanservice scenes. Considering that she is the main villains daughter, a bigger role in the story was expected for her.

Bruno might be the best one, and the main reason I sticked until the end of the manga. He showed more personality, care and devotion to the group than Giorno, as well as having all of the main character's duties. He was awesome, one of the characters I like the most in this series, and it would be better if he or Trish was the JoJo of this part.

Araki also brought back a dear character from part 3, Polnareff. I liked the idea, but his story lost focus at some point.

And what about Mista? A cool, funny character, really interesting to watch, and he was way too much overused. Every part Araki has a favorite character of his that he uses to do random stuff, and here it was Mista. Because of that favoritism, he resorted to plot armour to keep him alive. He should've died in the Grateful Dead arc and at least other 3 or 4 times, but yeah, Mista was kept alive until the end so he could continue creeping Trish and end together with her because of heteronormativity.

Another hyped arc was La Squadra, a hitman team from the gang who wanted to defeat the boss, not only because they were mistreated by the gang, but also to get revenge on two of their members' deaths. Being shown as a "different kind of weekly villains", La Squadra ends up having the same fate as others, being almost forgettable. Risotto, their leader, would be a great addition to the final battle, if he wasn't wronged and defeated in a very deus ex-machina way.

The main villain, Diavolo, is one of the worst in JoJo's. Having two personalities, we first know Doppio, who is very entertaining and a better character than Diavolo himself, but the other personality takes it over in the end. What are Diavolo's motivations? Basically the same as Dio's, he wants power and control, and that's it. Dio at least was fun to watch.

Diavolo/ Doppio also receives the same plot armour Giorno and Mista have, having inexplicably survived after the fight against Metallica. The excuse for it didn't make sense, as many things in Jojo, but some of those things are treated as memes, and this one was treated like a serious thing. Sure, very reasonable of having the boss surviving after losing all of the blood in his body, just because he ate some frog.

Diavolo has an op stand that would be very difficult to defeat, and since Araki couldn't dismiss the main villain (like he did with Fugo), he just gave up on writing a solution. After hitting his stand with the arrow, Giorno acquires Gold Experience Requiem, a stand even Araki doesn't know how it works. Without any struggle, he defeats Diavolo instantly, and that's it. Really what people want from a anime about fighting: For it to end without a fight with the main villain being defeated instantly.

As for giving a proper ending to the story and all of these characters we may not see again, it doesn't happen. Giorno becomes boss, and that's all we know. They don't say what happened with Trish, nor Mista, Polnareff's life inside of a turtle and the rest of the gang. A proper conclusion was done by someone else and approved by Araki, in the light novel Purple Haze Feedback, that also says what happened with Fugo and gives him more fights (I guess Trish will have to wait).

And that's it. This part of JoJo's has some good moments, like the torture dance, some fights were awesome, like the Cioccolata and Secco one, but it's weak in general. For me it seemed like a bad spinoff from the series, and you could skip straight to part 6 if you wanted to.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind is an absolute gem, with a cast I’ve grown to love, especially Giorno and Bucciarati. Giorno is such a unique and driven character, and I genuinely don’t understand why he doesn’t get as much love from some fans—his calm resolve and strong sense of justice make him a powerful and inspiring protagonist. Bucciarati, on the other hand, brings the team together with his unwavering loyalty and sense of honor, making him one of the most unforgettable characters in the entire series.

Araki’s storytelling and character development noticeably improve in Part 5, blending complex character dynamics with creative Stand battles ... that keep the intensity high. The plot twists and the depth of each character’s backstory make every episode or chapter feel meaningful and contribute to the overall impact of the story.

While I enjoy both the manga and the anime, I definitely prefer the anime adaptation. The animation quality and fluidity bring each Stand battle to life, and the OST elevates every scene, capturing the drama, tension, and excitement of each moment perfectly. Golden Wind is a thrilling journey from start to finish, and I’m grateful for an adaptation that highlights all of Araki’s incredible work so beautifully.

Literally the worst JoJo for me. Boring, irrelevant and long dialogs, awful theme and insignificant characters when ''compared to'' other JoJo's. First episodes (1-10) was decent, there were some references to Dio and some characters had unique abilites BUT they never used it again. I know this had happened before in old JoJo's but this one really stand out.

As an anime its only ok and overrated. Also there is some sjw elements such as homosexuality and ... it will continue in part 6 like in netflix things. You know what i mean...

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, is a phenomenal addition to the franchise. Set in Italy, this season follows Giorno Giovanna, the son of Dio Brando, as he rises through the ranks of the Italian mafia in order to take down the boss and rid the organization of corruption.

One of the strongest aspects of this season is the incredible character development of Giorno and his mates. Each member of his team has a unique personality and backstory, making them all feel fleshed out and important to the overall narrative. The dynamic between them is also well-written and entertaining to watch, particularly the relationship between Giorno and ... Bruno Bucciarati.
you'll love some and hate some. some cringe moments/fights but all part of it.
Last few episodes are emotional and action packed to say the least.
Although, Golden Wind is a thrilling and emotional ride from start to finish, with an excellent blend of action, comedy, and drama as well, no dull moments. It is a testament to the creativity and innovation of the JoJo franchise, and a must-watch for fans of the series and newcomers alike.

Bon Giorno and welcome to Italy! It's no secret that JoJo creator Hirohiko Araki loves Italy and nowhere is this more evident than the acclaimed Part 5: Vento Aureo. A gangster (or should I say Gangstar) mystery thriller, mixed in with wacky and thrilling Stand battles, high stakes action and some nice sprinklings of trademark JoJo humour and homoerotic nonsense.

Among all JoJo parts, Vento Aureo is among the most self-contained. It's events have little to no effect on what comes after and while it is a consequence from events in previous parts, it exists mostly in isolation from anything else. But make no mistake, this ... doesn't mean it isn't impactful, quite the contrary. Part 5 stands out a lot - here is where JoJo truly shifted away from muscular 80s shonen heroes to elegant, flamboyant and more morally ambiguous badasses. Character designs are more outlandish, but are also so striking and memorable. The action is much less focused on throwing punches and is instead much more cerebral. And the whole experience is just fantastic - the stakes, the tension, the character dynamics, the drama. Oh, it's so bellissimo!

Vento Aureo contains some of the best battles, some of the best minor villains and some of the most iconic moments of all of JoJo and by God does the anime do it justice - with superb visuals, fantastic voice acting, great pacing and of course the MUSIC, the already amazing experience is elevated to a whole new level. Do yourself a favour and check it out!

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind is in my opinion one of the most unique parts from Jojo's, based on it's characters, story, setting, etc.
What I really like about Part 5 is just the Mafia touch to it and trying to get higher on the power ladder, to eventually become the Mafia Boss.
But what other things do I like or not like about Part 5?
Let's look at that right now.
So grab a drink or some snacks and have some fun reading this review! :)

Story 8,5/10:
The story begins with our new Jojo (or GioGio) getting introduced.
His name is Giorno Giovanna.
He is a 15 year old ... boy who works as a small scammer for some parts of the mafia. His biggest dream is to become a gangster since his childhood. When he was a kid, he saved a gangster and in return the gangster protected him from his abusive step-father, his bullies and made his life a lot better.
As I mentioned, it was his step-father who was abusive.
So now you ask: "So who is his real father?"
His real father is DIO (Brando).
Well that aside, when Giorno fatally injures a member of the mafia, he is interrogated and questioned by Bruno Bucciarati, also part of the mafia.
They have a big fight and in the end, Giorno spares him as he sees, that Bruno is a good guy, becuase Bruno hesitated as he saw the arm of a kid which where drugs were used on.
So Giornos plan is to join Bucciarati's gang and take the power from the boss, to stop drugs from getting selled to kids.
The story progresses much more and better the longer the story goes and is definetely one of the most interesting and unique.
I think that Part 5's story does need a bit more depth in it, but generally it is really great!

Pacing 9/10:
I don't know how other people saw the pacing in Part 5, but I think the pacing in Part 5 is pretty good.
There are no unnecesarry Episodes and all of them are really interesting to watch. Of course, the 39 Episodes might be a bit exhausting for some people, but the good quality of the show makes up for that.

Characters 9,5/10:
I always admire characters in Jojo and the longer the series goes, the better the characters get.
Giorno Giovanna, a Jojo that isn't really considered interesting or relatable, but his way of dealing with drug selling and his 50/50 way of being DIO and Jonathan is just great. I think that Giorno is really overhated when it comes to his character.
The gang with Bucciarati, Narancia, Abbacchio, Mista and Fugo also all have an emotional, great and interesting story and great design.
And even the villains have absolutely great design.
Risotto Nero, Cioccolatta, Ghiaccio, and don't get me started with the boss!
I heard people saying the boss isn't really an interesting character or that he is boring, I find the excact opposite!
The boss has a very interesting personality, character, backstory and just his Stand is one of the best things I have ever seen.

Music 9,9/10:
Again, as in Part 4, the soundtrack of Golden Wind is just magnificent and beautiful.
Giorno's theme is a fucking masterpiece, the boss' theme is great, Risotto Nero's theme absolutely astonishing and even side OST's are really, really great.
It still can't get to Part 2 level in my opinion sadly.

Animation 9/10:
The animation gets better and better the longer the series goes. David Production really is learning more and more and it is great to see.
The fights, the effects, the best scenes are all greatly animated and are just beautiful.
And as always, in the last episodes, the animation was at it's peak.

Art 10/10:
Nah but really, the art style of Golden Wind is just beautiful and just really nice.
David Production yet again adapted it perfectly and I just can't express as much love to them but this part of the review.
Definetely the peak of Jojo's (Anime) art!

Fights 10/10:
Come on, tell me one fight in Part 5, that isn't good?
There isn't a single one which isn't interesting, enjoying and hooking to watch.
And Risotto vs. Doppio is the best non-final fight from Part 1-6 in my opinion.

Enjoyment 10/10:
Yeah but no, there is nothing I can say, but that Golden Wind is so enjoying to watch.
You have humour, great fights, hooking and emotional scenes and great characters.
There is nothing you can ask more for.
Part 5's Anime is just so enjoying to watch!

Overall 9,5/10:
As I am rewatching the series currently and thinking about my rating for Golden Wind for a second again, I come to the conclusion that I think it is as good as Part 4 and the Second Season of Part 3.
The whole Part is just great to watch and is a treat for people who really enjoy Jojo's and battle shounen in general.
The characters, the soundrack, the sound effects, the voice acting, the animation, the story, I could name more things, but Part 5 is just one of the best Anime seasons ever created.

Golden Wind might be the only anime I can describe in one word: PEAK.

Undoubtedly the greatest animated JoJo arc so far, and genuinely what I consider to be the greatest anime I've seen. It's been over a year since I've watched it, and it's stood out in my mind all this time as the apex of all animation. Incredibly stylized art and animation that takes full advantage of the medium, especially with the stirking use of colors. Outstanding action that goes beyond the already-high standards set by the earlier JoJo installments. The greatest cast of characters thus far, with loads of chemistry among themselves both ... at the start, with legitimately genuine and heartfelt development as the plot continues.

This time, our JoJo is the Italian delinquent Giorno Giovanna, the bastard son of Dio from when he was possessing Jonathan's body, just barely making him a part of the family. His personality is basically a perfect fusion of Dio and Jotaro's: He's ruthless, charismatic, and unpredictable like Dio, and focused, stoic, and driven like Jotaro. All of these traits combined makes Giorno the best protagonist up to this point. The absolutely absurd way that he's connected to the JoJo bloodline just makes it better.

Because as overpowered as he seems, the enemies in this series too are the most threatening in the series. In Stardust Crusaders and Diamond is Unbreakable, stand users could have been anyone, so it took a while for legitimately menacing villains to show up in each arc. This isn't an issue per se, and it made sense for the context of those storylines. But in Golden Wind, Giorno is deadset on climbing the ranks of the Italian mafia, and let's not delude ourselves, even the lowest member in the family would need to be immensely ruthless and cunning - they wouldn't induct you in the first place if you weren't. This in turn leads the fights to be the smartest and most intense thus far. Prime example, Giorno can adapt his power to heal his allies' major wounds - and his enemies know this, so they go out of their way to target him first, isolating or eliminating him so he can't heal or support his team. And for most of the fights where Giorno isn't directly involved, it's usually because that tactic worked.

On that topic, how are the stand fights? Ever since the franchise introduced stands in Stardust Crusaders, they've been the single most iconic component of the series, and Golden Wind has the best of them by far. Everyone's stand is incredibly powerful, leading to the fights having higher stakes and more intensity than ever before. Most of them last longer than one episode, without feeling like they're being needlessly prolonged, it's just that the circumstances and action are extreme enough to warrant it. Things reach an apex during the fight against White Album, one of the bloodiest fights so far against a stand user with such a psychotic personality that is equal parts threatening and hilariously entertaining. And every fight that follows it matches its quality equally, culminating in the fight against Green Day, a gruesome and malicious ability whose user is a vile, sadistic monster. For the characterization, the buildup, the action, and the perfectly cathartic climax, I have no reservation in calling this the greatest stand fight in the series. The beatdown Giorno gives at the end lasts for seven pages in the manga - completely deserved! - and the animation makes it even better.

Lastly, the pacing. From Giorno's introduction to Diavolo's inevitable defeat, the speed of the story and fight progression is akin to an F1 race, blitzing from start to finish while masterfully executing the course's twists and turns. By the end of the first episode, Giorno is already entrenched in his first stand fight against his soon-to-be ally Bruno Bucciarati, and subsequent encounters all happen immediately after the last, leaving no time for the heroes to rest. It's a veritable gauntlet, contributing even more to the sheer intensity of the show I was praising earlier. That's not to say there isn't any downtime for us, the viewers, just that it happens in quick and impactful moments between the fights. There are flashbacks for the heroes and enemies, as well as cuts to other characters outside the main party, and plenty of jokes and humor interspersed throughout to maintain levity. The most iconic example being the "Torture Dance", but my favorite is after the White Album stand fight - I already mentioned how bloody that fight is, so when that user is dead and one of the heroes arrives to see the aftermath in the most compromising way possible, the sudden juxtaposition led to one of my loudest laughs from any anime I've seen so far.

If I'm going to be completely honest and critical, it's not perfect. Giorno's and Diavolo's stands are a bit sloppy with how their powers are set up - I'm not even going to attempt to explain King Crimson, and Gold Experience's ability to reflect damage is never invoked beyond the first two episodes. Also, the stand fight against Man in the Mirror ended with me exclaiming "Okay, that seriously shouldn't have worked" - the only time I think it's too ridiculous, even by JoJo standards - and the anime ends with the stand "fight" against Rolling Stones, a sort of prologue to this arc which is thoroughly pointless and uninteresting, I'd consider it the worst stand fight in the overall series. And yet despite this, Golden Wind carries so much bravado, so much oomph, that I can willfully overlook these admittedly major flaws, because it does everything else masterfully.

I need to repeat this one more time. Golden Wind is PEAK.

Before the anime adaptation this was one of the least popular parts, at least in this part of the world, because it was the most appraised in Japan. Now, this is the highest rated part in MyAnimeList, and there is a reason, although is not really a very good one.

For starters, Jojo always had several elements that made it, well, Jojo. A mix of the characters, the stands, the fights, the humor and the interactions and unfortunately this season throws that mix out the window. First, even if it has some pretty fun moments is tone is a lot more serious that usual and humor ... is more scarce.

Second, the characters are a lot less fun and more plain the season. they now have backstories and some motivation but they have a lot less chemistry that in earlier seasons. They lack the charisma that was almost granted in earlier seasons and that's a huge downer.

Third, the fights are some of the fiercest and more extreme of all Jojo. the villains were a lot stronger than a lot of the previous and later ones which is pretty logical as most of them are mafia assasins. In one hand that makes the fights very good and they are really creative, but there are some really heavy inconsistencies with the powers of the protagonist and the resistance that the characters have have escaled to amounts that get to ridiculous even for a series with bizarre in the title. If they can survive almost anything the tension fades even when the danger apparents to be real and heavy.

Fourth, the protagonist is the weakest of them all. It barely has any personality, repeats his phrase like a buzzword and almos is a plot device more than a character. Is really strong, but this is based on some really bad writing decisions I can't mention to avoid spoilers, but his fame was not earned by good reasons.

Fifth, the villain although has a lot of creative concepts appears really late and is pretty plain by himself even when around him there are some interesting ideas and the best character interaction of the season. In character terms, is the weakest until now.

Sixth, fortunately, the nuance and characterization the protagonist lacks is given to another character, Bruno Buciaratti. His characterization, motivation and personality are the strongest of the season and he moves the plot forward even more than the protagonist himself.

Seventh, the animation style has changed. Is detailed but feels stiff in a lot of occasions. the soundtrack is somewhat memorable, and in general the production values are acceptable.

Eighth, the ending is basically solved by an power-up.

When the balance is done most of this remarks are more negative than positive, but even then is the highest rated one. Why? because is centered more on the battles that in the really loose plot or plain characters and as that element is in one of it's strongest points everything else is not that notorious in a superficial viewing.

Is the weakest Jojo season thus far, the weakest protag thus far, but it has the best support character and best fights thus far to make the viewing not as painful as it would have been otherwise. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to see shonen fights as there are some really good ones during all the duration of the season, but for anything else is not really a good option.

This is my first review but I gotta say this part in particular is one of the best if not the best so far.

Everything is beautiful and to be honest there is not much to say,if you are a JoJo fan and if you didn't watch Vento Aureo yet then what are you waiting for?
This adaptation has done justice to the manga and not surprisingly many have changed their opinions after seeing the anime,I hope the same treatment will be applied to part 6 as well.

THIS HAS BEEN A GOLDEN EXPERIENCE!

Now Golden Wind has truly ended. Giorno Giovanna has left his JoJo mark. The Italian JoJo, or GioGio. Been a hell of a journey these past 9 months. Neber watched a JoJo weekly as I got to Parts 3 and 4 late so doing it this way, even knowing what was gonna happen since I read the manga after seeing Part 3, was been such a trip. This ain't my favorite JoJo part, or even close really, but it has some of the best characters and best stands/stand battles in all of JoJo so it has merit out the wazoo. My biggest thing is the ... amount of plot conveniences. JoJo has always been wacky, some would say bizarre, but there's enough times where it breaks it's own logic for me to say something. The Diavolo fight being the biggest but smaller ones in the other battles too, I get the sense that Araki went for rule of cool over making sense in his own world. Which isn't inherently bad but makes me scratch my head more often than I'd like.

Regardless, and often in spite of that, Italy was pretty bonkers. The journey these Gang Stars went on rivals all the other JoJo journeys. The cast is full of amazing characters as I've said. Gio, Bruno the god, Narachia, Abbacchio, Mista, and even Fugo, made a badass crew. All their stand abilities fit well and gave us fucking killer moments. Bruno in the train battle, Gio against Green Day, Mista and Gio against Ghiaccio, Fugo vs the Man in the Mirror, there's a veritable smorgasbord for stand battle lovers. No question there. I ate it all up too. The characters themselves were really good too. Bruno obviously being my personal favorite, but Mista and Narachia were close behind him. Gio I think was merely serviceable. Took the backseat too much for my taste as he's the titular JoJo. Not a bad character but not that good. Sort of indifferent about him, until he gets Requiem of course then he's a fucking god who beats Diabolo's ass to shit. Excuse me. The ending with him being the new capo is kickass also. Deserved it after all that.

Speaking of, Diavolo was a good villain but I won't say great. His ability of removing slivers of time makes him a threat on par with previous JoJo villains but it think compared to the likes of DIO he ain't quite there. I do love particular scenes with him though. When he reveals himself to Polnareff, and when we first meet him a la his signature gut punch to Bruno were two moments I was hyped to see in the anime. Having Polnareff back even briefly was awesome too. Not the same as we last saw him but as I adore Stardust Crusaders having an og back adds positive. Trish too of course. Not much helpful expect against BIG, which is a big moment but still, and some against her dad but she was mostly human macguffin as Diavolo tried to kill her the whole show. Still liked her character as I love me a firecracker.

Production of the show was also I think good not great. Many bad frames and wonky moments but the big ones were done well so that's enough for me. The three recaps was some horseshit, especially the third only eight weeks after the second, so I feel this production was harder for David pro them previous JoJo, even Part 4. They're much busier than they've ever been and I think to showed at points. Not awful no way but faltering more often than I'd like. Music was on a whole nother level though, good Lord was the music used so well on top of being badass in its own right. Gio's theme is iconic at this point. Those violins raise it up a ton. The

Overall I liked the anime for Part 5 better than the manga for Part 5. Which is a testament to how much David pro cares about JoJo. The battles all pretty much looked great. The damned Torture Dance cracked me up how they showed it in the anime. The colors changing like they do was done so well. The story is I think the weakest link here but it's not bad just not *as good* as previous JoJo. I think Araki played this one more loosey goosey Part 5 still kicks ass and delivered the hype battles. Now we wait for the sweet butterfly Jolyne and the Stone Ocean, till next time JoJo.

I have to give Jojo’s bizarre adventure credit for how it evolves from season to season. While part one (phantom blood) and part 2 (battle tendency) were great, the series really got pushed in a new direction with part 3 (stardust crusaders). Stardust Crusaders helped establish what jojo would be structured off of in later arcs with the introduction of stands.

I bring up Stardust crusaders because part 5 (golden wind) reminds me a lot of it. Both arcs have the protagonist, Jotaro (Stardust Crusaders) and Giorno (Golden Wind) have a main goal of defeating a central antagonist. To defeat them, both characters team up with ... a variety of other individuals and face off against other stand users on their quest to defeat their main foe.

Of course, Golden wind does contain elements differing from Stardust Crusaders. Initially, some of the most interesting draws of this arc come from the setting in Italy and the story seeming to follow a sort of mob story line. While Dio’s shadow looms heavy over Stardust Crusaders and the majority of the jojo franchise, the identity of the main antagonist in golden wind (aka the mob boss) is unknown. The little that is known about him is that nobody knows his past or his identity and his influence on Italy is largely negative.

The main character (Giorno) desires to stop him in order to keep the organization’s constant influx of drugs from destroying his community. However, the boss won’t let just anybody get close to him. So, Giorno and Bucciarati plan to gain the boss’s trust and find out his identity so that he can be defeated. However, they need to proceed with caution in order to achieve their goal.

In order to get close to the boss, the characters have to defeat multiple other stand users as part of a mission. When I first began watching the show, I began to see potential for Golden Wind to stand out from the previous arcs. Having to gain the boss’s trust could lead to various situations where characters have to make hard decisions that conflict with their personal morals or goals in order to stay incognito. It also could have set up scenarios where the tension isn’t in the fights alone, but in the character’s struggle to keep their intentions hidden.

Essentially, golden wind could have resembled a sort of undercover cop story with the charm and eccentricity of the jojo universe. This meant episodes could be structured to not only have great fights, but instill thick tension episode to episode in dialogue and drama. Unfortunately, that isn’t where the series goes.

A lot of jojo episodes are focused around a similar setup: Characters are in a new situation, something weird occurs, characters find out it is because of a stand, characters discover an enemy, characters try to find out the enemy’s abilities, the enemy’s ability is discovered and they are defeated. It is a simple but effective formula.

Golden Wind uses this formula as a way to not only provide the viewer with entertaining fights, but also introduce characters and flesh out their personalities and stand abilities. The first 10-12 episodes of Golden Wind are particularly interesting because the fights are effective ways to introduce our main cast of characters. In addition, compelling backstories are paired with each character to grab your attention and make them feel interesting.

One big improvement of Golden Wind over past jojo arcs are the stand abilities themselves. I was consistently surprised episode to episode by the creative ways stand abilities were utilized. I was consistently saying to myself “wow, that’s cool” or “That’s an interesting way to use that ability”. This made it stand out from an arc like Stardust Crusaders where I didn’t really find the stand abilities themselves particularly interesting. For instance, golden wind has characters with ice or poison abilities that utilize them in interesting enough ways to make their ability seem unique despite the fact most anime viewers have seen these abilities appear before in other shows.

I kept coming back episode to episode in order to see how the fights would progress and resolve themselves. Similar to other Jojo Arcs, the fights in golden wind remain some of the best parts of the show. I love how strategy plays a key role in achieving victory in fights instead of simply overpowering an enemy or resorting to standard Shonen tropes. Not only that, every character in the show has great fight moments episode to episode. This makes it feel like every character is useful and plays a different beneficial role in the plot. Because of this, it never feels like any character is useless.

Despite this, I was pretty disappointed at how Golden Wind turned out. Instead of doing something unique with the setting and time period like I expected, it just emulates the structure of Stardust Crusaders where the characters have to fight stand user after stand user in order to get to a destination or get to the main villain. While this isn’t inherently bad and could have been done well, the show is weakened significantly by events that occur mid-season that make most of the events leading up to the it seems pointless or unnecessary. This really made the show appear to be poorly written.

I started thinking of the show’s many flaws and how it would have been much better with various changes. Some may just come to jojo for the fights, so they may be able to dismiss the flaws in the writing/plot since Golden Wind delivers on that front. However, I’ve seen jojo bring great fights and nuance them with effective writing for an overall better experience in previous arcs. While I enjoy Golden Wind a bit more than Stardust Crusaders, I felt like Stardust Crusaders did have better writing at least. Also, I loved Diamond is Unbreakable because of the creative way it’s setting was utilized and how characters seemed written to just seem more memorable. Thus, I can’t give Golden Wind a pass for what it falls short on when other arcs have done well. It is expected that later arcs should build upon what previous arcs did well. Instead of doing that, golden wind takes a step back quality wise.

One problem that I have had with jojo since Stardust Crusaders is the lack of character depth. Sure, the fights are great and characters have great, memorable moments in the fights, but I often don’t find myself invested in the characters themselves. Even if something tragic does occur, I feel apathetic to it since the show didn’t put in the work to make me care about the characters beforehand.

One of the problems with jojo is that it seems so preoccupied with putting fights in front of your face that characters don’t get chances to bond with each other emotionally or have developed backstories. It would be nice to see the characters exhibit genuine emotion from time to time instead of just exhibiting the stock emotions of shock, confusion, anger, or victory expressions during fights.

While I can give golden wind some credit for giving every character a backstory that drew me in initially, it wasn’t enough to really make me care about them. Many characters just seem to appear stoic or slightly odd, but this doesn’t inherently make their character interesting. The character backstories get introduced almost as throwaway story devices as soon as we get introduced to a character early on so it lacks any real meaning or significance. Also, their backstories rarely get referenced or show any indication of affecting the characters in question.

Finally, I found the ending of Golden Wind to be rather contrived. It really didn’t add anything to the plot. It felt fairly out of place and was pretty confusing. Instead of wrapping up lose ends and bringing the show to a close, it feels like the final episode shows us something we don’t know the significance of or really care enough about to be invested in. I kept asking myself what was going on or why the episode was showing me these things. For a final episode, these questions should not be in one’s mind.

Although I was happy to consume more jojo content, I was disappointed how the show turned out. I saw a lot of potential with the setting and the mob story line, but the show just turned into a standard affair. Coming off the coattails of the fairly strong diamond is unbreakable arc, I simply expected the same strength to be present with golden wind. However, I was let down.

I still enjoyed the show, but I felt like it could have been so much better. As far as the arcs of jojo are concerned, this is probably one of my least favorite. If you are a fan, you should watch it, but don’t expect anything unique out of this arc.

This is my first entry into the Jojo franchise, and I must say, this is the only one I could get into. My main reason for not getting into other Jojos though has been the art style, the over muscular men has been a big turn off for me, however the mafia boys of golden wind are within my flavor range.

The way I like to describe this series is that every episode is a plot of scooby doo, "Oh no, an enemy stand! What's it's ability?" and then they start looking for clues. The fun part about this is all the twists the enemy with, ... once they figure out the stand ability, the enemy takes it one step further and really makes the viewer go "wtf, that's cool as shit". This dynamic is what makes golden wind way more enjoyable to watch than s3 where you have a fly go "AHHAHAHA, ME FAST ME UNKILL--*squish*" and then we meet another stand 5 minutes later; all stand fights are about a battle of logic with poor Mista falling for every trap in the book giving the first clue.

Also to add onto these scooby doo fights, because they are so long and drawn out, it allows time for some character building which I thought was a really cool idea. Because we are in a mafia setting where no one trusts one another and "death is likely", they are constantly at each other throats for the first 16 episodes, creating some really interesting character development where it's all about what extent or self sacrifice they will go for one another. I will mention though, I give the characters a 9 because I found myself disliking a lot of the characters 10 minute backstories in the middle of the action.

Enough has been said about the art and sounds, it's really good, the OST of gioronos theme is a banger, and the anime eleborates the actions of each sequence from the manga and amplifies it to perfection.

After watching the first parts of Jojo and especially Stardust Crusaders, I wanted to watch Golden Wind, but the setting and scenario just didn't grab me initially and I repeatedly dropped the anime after the first two episodes. The story is basically a self contained story of Giorno (who is the illegitimate son of Dio Brando) who lives in Naples and wants to become the Mafia Boss and kill the current Boss. Initially I just did not see why this Giorno was compelling, and I felt like the story didn't have the stakes of Stardust Crusaders.

However, once I got into this anime and forced myself ... to watch for a bit, I got completely sucked in.
To the point that it actually became my favorite arc of Jojo ever. To make it simple, the basic scenario/plot (which is a classic mafia story) is not important. What makes it stellar is!

1) The cast of characters is awesome: Every single character is fun. Giorno is pretty much an introverted protag but the meaning of that really makes him awesome. He's not a brute like Jotaro, he's a kind young man that uplifts others and makes them "Golden". The irony of him being Dio's son also adds to the wholesomeness of the story. Then you have the rest of the cast, who all have interesting backstories and personalities, from the hilarious yet deadly Mista, or the charismatic Bruno. You also have Trish, who is arguably one of the coolest and hottest female characters in Jojo. I also thought no villain could top Dio, but the Mafia Boss is truly terrifying and his stand ability is fearsome.

2) The stands and stand battles in this arc are better than any arc before. They really got creative in this arc. We are far past stands like Star Platinum which are just high speed and power. Now you have stands that for example, cause a deadly virus to be released (bioweapon style), or Giorno's stand "Golden Experience" which infuses life into everything. It's all fun and creative, and leads to really awesome fights.

Conclusion: I had a hard time watching this arc at first, but it became my favorite Jojo arc.
Allow yourself to get pulled into this wholesome story of Giorno and his Mafia crew. It's worth it in the end.
Also, you don't need to know about any Jojo stuff to watch this. It's a self contained story with just a few references.
All you need to know is that characters have "stands", which are supernatural entities they can manifest.

Bonus: The Ending Song in part 2 is literally by Enigma! Isn't this awesome?! Such a classic band.
When final credits rolled on "Golden Wind", I was sad but glad that I watched this.
It's not epic like Stardust Crusaders, but its more of a kino experience, which was even better for me!
Strongly recommended!

I only give 9/10 and not 10/10 because I feel that some character deaths didn't happen satisfyingly, and because the plot was slightly barebones, with some character development lacking.

So the 5th part of one the most famous manga series is about to come to an end. Aureo Vento (Italian), Ougon no Kaze (Japanese) or simply Golden Wind in a word is fabulous .

Well honestly, I did not read the 5th part manga but, I was quite excited for the anime adaptation of this part. Well, it was partly because of the 7-page :"MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!MUDA!" scene. The scene in anime certainly lived up to expectations. (It lasted 30 seconds!!!).

The story itself is fairly simple::: - Giorno Giovanna son of former fan (and meme) favorite antagonist DIO Brando, wants to ... join a powerful gang active in Europe called Passione to stop drugs by taking over the gang from inside. But, what attracts you is the sheer execution of this story. It is presented very beautifully.

Coming to characters, there are only 2 characters worth mentioning: ::::- Giorno Giovanna himself and his friend Bruno Bucciarati. Both of there characters are developed very well through the series. After seeing the decline in protagonist standards in part 4, I wasn't expecting the protagonist to be this good. He is literally the best JoJo (or written as GioGio in Aureo.Vento; pronounced the same though) after of course, Jotaro Kujo. Bruno Bucciarati is Giorno's friend and the season deutragonist. He the one who gets Giorno into Passione.

Coming to animations, I don't think i have much to say. If you are watching the series from season 1, you already know how good the animations are. And if you are new, well the animations are too darn good. You don't see animations with this much hard work nowadays. The shading is real good in the animations. You are going to love 'em. I promise.

For the longest time I was hyped for this particular part of JoJo to be animated. Part 5 is one of my favorite JoJo parts; it has the coolest Stand abilities and the most colorful characters in the entire series in my opinion. I was so damn excited for it, that I even went to AnimeExpo 2018 just to see the first episode super early. The first episode was fantastic and I couldn't wait to see more when it released on October. Fast forward to finishing the final episode, I believe Golden Wind was one of the best animes in both 2018 and 2019.

The story ... isn't quite as interesting as Diamond is Unbreakable, but it's still superior to the first three parts. It's a crime drama centered around the drug trade and the Italian Mafia, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise when I tell you that this part is easily the most violent and bloody part in JoJo. The art is easily the best in the entire series so far. It's so vibrant and colorful that it's hard to dislike it at all, and this isn't even the Blu-Ray cut. The sound is also the best in the entire series, the voice acting is top notch- major props to the voice actors of Giorno, Bruno, Narancia, and the Boss in particular. The sound effects are wonderful and satisfying, and the soundtrack is pure gold.

The fight scenes are some of the best as well. As stated above, I think the Stands are the most unique and versatile in this season and it makes for energetic and bloody fights that also involves a lot of strategy.

The flaws I have are the constant flashbacks in the first half and the characters. Each of the main character gets a flashback from their past (and since some of them aren't in the manga it's basically filler) and it takes up half of an episode each time. It gets pretty tedious and some of them don't give enough reasoning for why the characters are the way they are. True, some are good. Bruno and Fugo have excellent ones that characterizes them, but the others not so much.

The characters aren't as great as Part 4's. They're just not as interesting, and honestly some of their quirks are kind of annoying. For example, Mista's abhorrence towards the number 4 or Narancia being dumb as hell. This is practically blasphemy within the community, but I just didn't enjoy it. It's good meme material I suppose. Giorno isn't exactly the most engaging JoJo either but he's pretty entertaining to watch in a fight so there's that. The best character by far is Bruno Bucciarati, who is easily one of the best supporting characters I've ever seen in an anime. He has good motives, he's interesting, and you sympathize with him the most. He's considered to be one of the best Jo-Bros in the entire series and I agree wholeheartedly. Many of the emotional scenes are because of him. He's selfless without being self-righteous and he's not perfect but tries his best.

The villains are also pretty great. Think of the Stardust Crusader villain cast, give them powers that aren't completely boring/stupid and have them be tightly knit with each other and it makes for a more engaging villain. La Squadra isn't the Phantom Troupe by any means but it makes the villain of the week formula a lot less tedious to go through. The Boss however, is where I think is the best part of this season. I feel like he's a highly underrated villain just within the JoJo community, let alone the anime community. He's intimidating, powerful (honestly he's dummy overpowered), and for reasons you'll see in the show, he's extremely complex. I won't say anything more though.

Definitely give this season a shot, it doesn't quite live up to its hype but it's still a great time. 8/10.

Jojo's bizarre adventure: Golden wind is a quite particular arc of the story. Unlike all of the previous parts, this one takes place almost entirely separated to the previously used storyline. Although that might sound strange, Hirohiko Araki makes that his advantage. Golden wind is a great story that, unfortunately, didn't quite hit the spot for me. I am by no means saying it is bad, but seeing as how amazing Part 4 was, I was slightly disappointed that it had nearly no importance in part 5's plot. If it had directly followed Part 3, I'm certain I'd have given Part 5 a better rating, ... but unfortunately, part 4 overshadowed it greatly. Overall, I still think Golden wind can be enjoyed very easily and it is by no means a bad anime.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5 brings back the adventure! I ended up enjoying it that much that I couldn't wait until the dubbed came out, so I watched it subbed. For people who know me, I don't usually watch subbed when it finishes airing, but with this one, I enjoyed it very much!

The story is strange but great at the same time. It's amazing to be honest. I haven't seen any of the mafia animes (are there any mafia anime?), so this is the first anime that has a big mafia part. The creator obviously had some research behind it, so the series as ... a whole is good and everything. The rankings of the mafia is correct from what I can gather from the Internet.

The art, again, it's not the prettiest. It's pretty in its own way, but the thing is that the art needs more work done.

The sound is good. Giorno's theme became a meme somehow... Quite a lot of music from Jojo becomes a meme sometime in the future.

The character development is done masterfully. It's almost like the creator realised that he made a mistake on the last part.

Overall, I loved it! Can't wait until the next part!!!

Ah, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Whenever I look at anime top 10 lists JoJo always gets overlooked. It's popularity has risen now because of part 5 which currently has 8.75 on MAL. Is JoJo part 5 really worth the hype?

Let's get some things out of the way. This is not a plot heavy anime. This anime is also not heavy on character development(it's present, but the show doesn't put a focus on it). This is a battle anime. Its main focus are the fights. Very well planned and executed fights. Golden Wind is a monster of the week type of show. ... It’s a type of show where our main characters fight a different enemy every episode. Fights are very well planned with a lot of strategy and occur on different places such as trains, cars etc.

The story begins with our protagonist Giorno Giovana who gets a lot of hate among fanbase. I personally like him because of his personality. He has a lot of characteristics of a hero such as altruism and idealism, but can also be very merciless and cruel. There is a reason for his personality, but I won’t spoil anything.
His goal is to join the mafia and stop drug trade. With the help of Bruno Buccerrati he joins the mafia and meets other members. They are a bunch of misfits who had their reasons to join the mafia and Buccerrati wanted them in his crew. Although most of the main cast is, to a certain degree, fleshed out but there is too many of them. Everyone has a different personality and their attitude might get annoying sometimes.

Anime is definitely an improvement compared to manga. It wasn’t always easy to know what was happening in the manga, but luckily the anime was great at planning and explaining different situations. This adaptation also gave us new OST themes which sound great(think of the piano memes). The only problem I had with this adaptation is that the pacing becomes much slower around episode 25. They also overdid the exposition. If you are making a dialogue-heavy show you should try to make dialogue more interesting. This is more of a complaint for the manga because the dialogue was taken from the source material, but the purpose of the anime is to fix the flaws of the manga, not to copy them!
VERDICT
A great adaptation to an already great manga. THIS is my favorite JoJo part(yes, I am including even part 7). I like the main cast, the setting and the fights the most out of other JoJo parts. Only flaws are the slow pacing near the end and a large number of main characters.

The best JoJo part to be animated and one of the best shonen stories of all time. I won't plot recap, and only give you the specific reasons why this is such a masterpiece of action media.

1. The characters can best be described as 'simple, yet flawlessly executed'. The backgrounds of the characters actually provide insightful, interesting information. This information tells you important details about everything about their interpersonal relationships, their stand abilities, and their approaches to fights. What's amazing about this is that it not only applies to the main characters, but the villains as well. I would not be able to recite to ... you every stand from parts 3 and 4, but I can definitely do it for part 5. Each stand is unique, and the relationship between the stands and their characters make every stand fight memorable.

2. Purposeful action. Each stand battle is both a fascinating practical fight and a test of a characteristic against the other stand user. Whether it's the resolve to face pain/self sacrifice, the willingness to face the truth, or the determination to find your objective, the stand battles are all compelling battles that pit hardened yet still enjoyable cartoonish gangsters against each other. Despite this, the sheer ridiculousness of each fight keeps the tone light hearted in the face of these high stakes fights between teenage murderers.

3. Pacing. Part 5 is BALLS TO THE WALLS. NEVER STOPS HIGH PACE JOJO ACTION. Part 5 is aware that it's greatest strength llies in introducing new villains and having them square off against our heroes, so the moments inbetween stand fights are direct, concise, and purposeful. In general, group the season into two-episode chucks and you can break up each chunk by about 15-20% exposition or plot transition, 80-85% stand fights. But the show continues to push it's character arcs and main plot even in the middle of these fights. This versatility allows for a surprisingly compelling narrative to come from a show that's mostly psychic ghosts punching each other. This is proven by the show's replayability - in a 39 episode show I'm gonna skip a total of 4 episodes even though I'm watching this season for a 5th time. I don't know what your anime watching habits are, but for me that's a LOT of rewatching with VERY LITTLE skipping.
