nowadays, there are many movies and TV series adapted from true stories. in order for the audience to believe in what they watch. although anime has many genres such as fantasy, science fiction and adventure, the producers do not hesitate to add a few small details from real life, even in the most absurd stories.

anime is one of the animation genres that best reflects the sense of "reality" in terms of storytelling, with examples that have survived to this day. animes with the most realistic and best stories ever made remain in the memories of many of us even today. ghibli movies are one of the best examples of this. movies such as my neighbor totoro, the voice of your heart, magical waves and little witch kiki can be given as examples of this. even though most of it is based on a fantastic and magical universe, throughout the film it is able to make the audience feel that "such a world" really exists.

My list for someone wanting to start Anime.
The list includes short to long anime series with varying genres. There is no ranking. It should have something for most beginners wanting to start or branch out into different genres of anime. It also only lists the first or whole series of an anime.

The list features short anime series set in a variety of settings. It is unranked and aims to offer something for most beginners who want to start exploring or expand their experience across different anime genres. The list includes either the initial season or the entire series of each anime.

This list will contain series where the main character has A. no emotions B. hides his emotions and/or intentions or C. no response at all/mute. The theme of the list will be mixed so expect some action, comedy, romance, school and many more.

A list with Anime I think ask and answer difficult questions about significant philosophical topics and world talking about. Exploring themes as difficult to get to a consensus to as God and Suffering; Human nature; War and Peace, as well have giving us high quality entertainment, exception being Ergo Proxy.

These are some English dubs from Netflix. Not all of these series are Netflix exclusives.

These anime have at least two official English dubs.

Anime where the main or sub-plot is about chasing revenge against an enemy, entity or group. This list contains a wide variety of different themes, genres and character tropes especially in the Chinese produced donghua but they all have elements that include revenge or fighting to gain information on a fallen loved one.

- Little to no fanservice
- Something to say/a message to send
- Realistic portrayals of any of the above

Keep in mind, not all dark anime is mature, and not all mature anime is dark. A bloody gorefest can be juvenile and a simple romance can be mature. More of the shows in this stack stray dark, however, because that’s what I’m more familiar with and only 50 entries are allowed. There are many more mature anime out there; this is just the first fifty that came to mind.
