Endride

So far, I've only watched 7 episodes, but I can already tell it's a pathetic series.

To be honest, I'm still only watching this for the ridiculousness of the plot. Characters don't stand out, setting's a rip-off of Final Fantasy, and don't even get me started on the animation fails.

First off, the MC is just so irritating. It's like he's there for the sake of the plot. He really doesn't stand out much. It's the 2nd male character that does. Also, the female character's dead weight. Seriously, I would've hated everyone in the series if it wasn't for Louise and Demetrio. Without these two, the show ... would just be a Yaoi fanfest.

Next is the setting. Actually, it's pretty clever how they made the underworld look beautiful. But again, every scene looked the same. Same cliff, same jungle, etc. And I know that they're trying to make original monsters and everything, but yellow boars with unicorn horns won't cut it.

Let's move on to the animation. One of the reasons I'm still watching this series is to look for errors in the animation. No offense on the studio, but I think it could've gone better. Also, pants. I mean, how come no one's realized that the MC's pants is backwards? Is it a trend in the other world or something? Seriously, it's gonna be a recurring meme at this rate.

I know this comes off negatively, but please understand, this is my opinion. I hope it gets better in the future episodes. And if you haven't seen this series yet... don't. If you're not into fantasy and/or recurring tropes, don't watch it.

Originally, I had no intention of writing a review for this series but when I found out it was an original and most of the reviewers hadn't finished the series; well, I couldn't help myself.

I'll start off with my sympathy for those who dropped the series early on. I completely understand. If I wasn't so stuck on always finishing series no mater how poor they are in hopes of it turning around at some point, I would have done the same.

In all honesty this series is extremely shallow. It's like a rough draft that somehow made it to the publishing stage without fleshing ... it out properly. The dialogue is shallow but the banter between Shun and Emilio always makes me smile, mostly because it's two teenage boys fighting with each other for no other reason than the fact that they're teenage boys (as far as I could understand). The characters as a whole were very hard to relate to or make any kind of connection with. There was dialogue but very little introspection into what the characters were doing and why. All you really get is that Emilio is bent on revenge and Shun is perhaps overly optimistic and accepting. Alicia is a dead weight throughout the whole series. Most of the time you don't know what she's thinking because you aren't given the proper information, whether actions in sequence, or internal dialogue; it's just not available. For most of the series I was almost dead set that Pascal was a traitor just because the series wasn't fleshed out properly. He makes foreboding facial expressions at crucial times but then nothing is every done about it. No explanation is giving as to why he's making that expression (similar to Alicia). Demetrio and Louise were done quite a bit better and I really feel like these two characters saved the series. Demetrio is pretty bad ass and you have a decent amount of back story given to him. His reasons for fighting are also very clear and you get a good sense of how he thinks and what his personality is like. Louise was a little harder to figure out but her personality is pretty constant, her actions and expressions are also explained well enough for you to make a semblance of a connection to her.

The weapons in this series were outright ridiculous. Louise's weapon...dear god it was awful. Demetrio (once again) is one of the few with a decent looking weapon, most likely because it IS, it's a normal weapon compared to all the Warp Relics everyone else possesses. Speaking of weapons, the fight scenes were so horrible I just wanted to laugh. No one really gets any stronger during the series, Emilio and Shun both suck and continue to do so throughout the series but somehow manage to defeat the bad guy all the same. Which reminds me, the bad guy's weapon seriously looks like Dr. Octopus from Spider Man. Seriously, no lie! There's a lot of issues with coordination as well during the vast majority of the series, if I didn't know any better I'd say it was a rush job. (Even though the episodes were released slowly.)

The plot is a mess. It's a typical 'stuck in fantasy world' series that honestly reminds me a little of Tegami Bachi (with the whole crystal in the sky thing). The pacing is quite bad and things don't start to get interesting until Shun and Emilio end up on the surface. (Literally the last four episodes.) Other than that it's a bunch of nonsense, while it makes you laugh and could be interesting at times, it's nothing special. You could easily brush it off and not think twice about it.

I honestly don't know why I was hyped about this series, maybe I read the summary when I heard it was coming out and thought it would be an awesome show. When I heard Funimation was taking it up I was even more excited but was disappointed when I didn't see a lot of advertising for it during the time it was airing. Now, I understand why. It's like the red-headed step child no one wants. As a rough draft, it's not bad, it just needs to be fleshed out, but for an original finished series, it's horrible. To publish something like this is just, wrong. You can tell at least one person was working hard and put their heart into the series but no one else followed suit. It's really sad because it could have been a decent series had they really worked hard on it.

Shun's facial expressions are much the same throughout the series and while Emilio gets time to grieve the loss of his family, Shun seems unfazed by his own personal loss, which doesn't make sense because he was agonizing over the person in question for a whole episode. Inconsistency was the main downfall of the series and perhaps a lack of understanding regarding what makes a good series come alive and pull the viewers in. Regardless, I wouldn't recommend watching the series, especially if you can't stand horrible pacing, useless characters, and only four episodes of interesting and moderately good anime.

This anime could be descibed in one word:Genuine.
While the story is the standard JRPG story of revenge and taking down a kingdom,it comes down to be a really simple and straightforward plot which makes it more enjoyable and relaxing instead of some heavy complicated plotline that may result boring.
The art and animations are colorful but not detailed and sometimes has mistakes,it's rather simple but for some it may look too slacky and for some other it may look pretty.
The sound unfortunally is forgettable doesn't leave impressions.
Now the characters are the things I liked the most.
The main character may seem like your standard shonen hero,which he ... kinda of is,but given the situation he was put in,you can understand him and sympatize with him.
His are not really over the top,and while he is young and a bit immature he still manages to treat everything in a ''field trip'' manner.
The other main character is definitely the best one in the show,he is your usual dark,stoic,revengeful guy with an angsty and edgy attitude.
He kept me entertained with his monologues and with his expressions,I would always look for his face to see his reactions to things.
The side characters are nice,some manage to be more entertaining than others, for example for me Eljuia was one of my favorites,but overall all the others were nice to see.
Most of the people who watch this genre of anime are people who expect to see a main hero and a girl to save,other 9999 girls who would try to hit on the hero and some male characters on the side,silly adventures and over the top sexual jokes...which here thank god isn't the case.
It's a sweet anime,I even got emotional at the fifth episode.
I thinks this anime definitely deserves chances and to be seen by a lot of people.

First thing first, WOW this anime have a lot of hate.
But personally is not too bad.

Story: The story begin in endride a world that is underneath the human world. So basically you all might say is like a trap in a fantasy world anime again right?? You are right. But is different in some way that I some how enjoy it. It have one american movie called narnia feels or if you want to talk more anime-ish, take spider rider or chaotic that air many many years ago. Is those similarities that I found it enjoyable.

Art: Like I say in story part, the ... show actually reminds me of narnia and spider riders. That makes the art stands out. From the weapon coming out of the chest to the world of endride which is got damn beautiful it stands out for me. Also, the characters design aren't influeced by eastern design (which people aren't use to in anime) but is very western influence to it.

OP/ED: The opening and ending is ok. I don't hate it. I don't love it. I'm not sure of the op and ed song. The opening just didn't make me pump for the show. While the ED is like a peaceful melody that is actually better than the op

Characters: A lot of people, say that emilio and shun argue too much but if you are either of the guys. You might just chew their heads off. The series is rather slow on the BFF but it is realistic. Think about it, if you are in Shun shoes and you meet up with a snotty prince won't you wanna IDK kill him? I know I would.... Now for Emilio, if you meet up with a little kid that actually got transported into a prison and just refuse to do what u say won't you kill him as well?? I know I would. As I say in the beginning of the characters part of the review. The relationship grow is slow but realistic.

Enjoyment: Overall, this is an entertaining anime for me from the realistic characters and how it reminds me of spider riders or chaotics. I truly enjoy this show.

Recommendation: This is a love it or hate it series. Hence, I'm gonna give a try it before buying.

I have given up on the series. I have dropped this anime and it will be a long time before I finish it. I went into Endride expecting a decent show. Instead, I got a show I dread to think about watching another episode.

The only good parts I found, trying to scrape together something of my expectations was the animations and the sub-par story. I found the art style good for the setting and the story line. The story reminded me of a "Journey to the Center of the Earth", except getting out of the center. It is a bit unique on that aspect.

The ... rest of the parts, I wish I could say the same. The opening and ending songs for me were horrible to listen to. I constantly skipped them after hearing it the first time. The plot never really picked up, making it a chore to continue watching. The characters were not memorable at all for me. My enjoyment of the show continually dropped with each episode as from the reasons above.

This show manages to get a score of 2 from me with its animations and the story line. I don't recommend watching this anime and finding something else to watch.

Well, it is just really not my type. I got attracted to this anime because of the cover art. I was searching for anime with mainly male and this seems to be it.
The beginning was awesome, sure, they took care of each other: For two seconds. Then as the anime progressed, it seems to centered around the Side Character's revenge, Not the MC's problem. It is really frustrating.

And they keep on introducing new characters that the author tried to make them seem funny and likable but failed. Honestly, they are just plain weird and all too dramatic.

But I hope my idea might ... change in the future, that is, if I still want to continued from where I dropped. Maybe I will just skip the last episode when it comes out. Because, if I may state again, this anime is just not that enjoyable to me

Endride was overall an enjoyable anime. When i first found out about it i was really excited fo it, which might be why i finished the series. While Endride isn't the best anime, it is very interesting, at least in my opinion, and its something i would watch again.

The story was, im not going to say "fresh," but it was something that I hadn't seen before. It was kind of predictable, but there were also some equally unpredictable moments within the story. Theres a lot of back story, and many things are explained well, but the first half is pretty slow paced. A lot of ... episodes have what can be seen as "filler" back story, even though it is relevant to the story. Tge ending was pretty cliched, and predictable, but i dont feel it was rushed like many anime endings are, and i think thats a really good thing. The main problem with this anime is the characters.

There is a wide variety of characters within this show, but none of them were really relatable. They all had a decent amount of back story, but because there were so many characters it put a bit of a toll on how much characterization was done. I personally find characterization the most important part of a story, so if you really value the characters in an anime, this doesnt have the best formation of them (thats the wrong word). Overall though the characters were pretty likable, though they were pretty bland. they werent the best, but they certainly werent the worst.

The music was very old village fairytale-esque, it used a lot of horns (there were other instruments too, but i cant recall them atm) but it was overall fitting for the story. The music fit the setting. I personally really liked the op, and the ed's were enjoyable too, but i think with those its either you love it or you hate it.

The art was certainly different, at least to me. Its very colourful, and unreal. But ithink thats what makes it better, the art fits with the story, it being a mysterious new land an all. I cant see this anime being any better with a different art style. There is room for improvement in the animation, but more of the movement, then the actual style of the art itself.

Overall i guess ths was a pretty good anime. It wasnt the best, there are things out there that are a lot better, but it wasnt the worst thing either. It kept me waiting for an epusode every week, and i found myself actually looking forward to new episodes every week. I thought it was interesting, the story was new and interesting to me, the animation was a bit more cartoony than many anime, and im a sucker for stories about a bunch of people coming together to meet a common goal. There were some sad moments, but there were also funny moments. There were moments of surprise, and moments of "i knew that was gonna happen," but i do think this was not a waste of my time. Even though it started off slowly, i think the end result was worth it. Looking back on how far its actually come this wouldn't be something I'd recommend out of the blue, but if you like fairytales then this then i think this is something you should check out. I don't think it'll be a waste of time.

This is my first time writing a review for an anime, but I felt like I had to address my own opinion about the anime as how it seems to me, the anime is incredibly underrated.

Now, I don't know where the unnecessary hate or skepticism comes from. Perhaps people assumed from the cover of two boys holding swords that Endride would be an action-packed series. While swordfighting is quite frequent in the anime, it is not the focus of the series and doesn't try to make it seem like it either. For anyone that picked up the anime, watched a few episodes, called it boring ... and dropped it probably didn't realize that the anime doesn't even promote Action genre. Unfortunately, betrayed expectations also tend to lead to cynicism and from there to ignoring anything else good that the series might have had to offer.

Aside from ranting about the mistakes that people have made when evaluating this anime, let's talk about why this anime is good.

Compared to dozens of different anime that I've seen in the past, Endride has one of the best approaches into world building that I've seen so far. Heck, even most of the mainstream titles cannot compare. Although often criticized for its slow pacing, Endride offers a good opportunity to look into the world of Endra where the story mainly takes place in. Going anywhere from seeing the entire continent through a map into learning about its very ecosystem, there's something you can always learn about Endra.

Character development in Endride was also something I would consider commendable, especially in the case of Emilio, the prince of Endra. Once a spoiled child who has never seen life outside of the castle embarks on a journey with a complete stranger, with only one simple goal in mind: Revenge. However, he learns much about the life outside the castle walls, including the values of a group of revolutionists, poverty and discrimination of other races. By the end of their journey, Emilio has changed a lot and seeks to exact the faults in his kingdom on his way back. Development of course doesn't limit only to Emilio, so there's a whole lot to look forward to!

The story of Endride is also nothing short of intriguing and always shrouded in mystery. Suddenly taken into a world inside a crystal, the immediate question arises: How do you get back home? And while seeking an answer for that question, many other questions are uncovered along the way, which without answer could mean the destruction of Eldra. As if the constant search for answers wasn't enough to keep you on your toes, the story also has the tendency to take the most unexpected turns...

In conclusion, I think Endride has a lot more to offer than people seem to realize, only in a completely different way than expected. While it might on a first glance look like an action anime and in that regard prove to be a disappointment, there's a lot more else going on in the anime and is up to the viewer whether it is sufficient to keep them interested. If you ask me though, if you have even the slightest interest in seeing through an unique plot, I would definitely recommend checking Endride out!

so i just finished endride and i should say it has a slow pace ..the first 5 episodes and the last 5 episodes were the most interesting and the change of all story ...they should have keep it at 12 episodes ,not so long with so many unimportant things to show ...at the end i think is anime is not for them who dont like slow pace animes ,its somehow as SAO ,who was good at first and interesting than became a love story of the 2 MC and was ruined ...i would rate 7 cuz wasnt as much enjoyable as other animes i have ... watched ...and for the character i would given 8 cuz all of them were interesting

If i make it past the 3 episode test of an anime, I usually stick with it to the end because of my obsession of finishing stories; there are only a few exceptions such as this anime.

The characters are quite bland and boring and the consistent bickering seems overly forced and not natural between the two main characters. This could of been a pretty awesome plot of they would of opened it up to magic and more instead of a weapon that comes out of their chest that isn't anymore powerful than normal weapons.

the power to hide a weapon at ... will is not all that exciting.

In this review contains minor spoilers( if you have seen past episode 3 there shouldn't be a problem), nothing that would ruin the plot, i am merely reviewing the state of the anime by describing the huge flaws in the characters.

The main character, a boy in episode 1 practically loves gemstones in search of one that will bring him to another world. However once finds that gemstone and arrives in that work all i seems to want is to leave and return back to his normal life. To me at least this seems to be quite the contradiction and bad character design, to see a ... boy who is described as "charismatic" and "brave" enter into this new world that he was looking for and seems only to complain and what to leave the instant he gets there. The prince which i believe to be equally as terrible as the MC seems to derive the majority of his hate for the current king from the fact that one day he heard to maids talking and apparently the current king was an enemy of this "true" father. For some reason this lead to a cycle of hate towards the man who raised him and clothed him. Just because of that weak reason led the prince to attempt to kill him and even overthrow him. Some may say well the prince befriended his teacher and this king exiled him, well the teacher defied the king not because he had scientific reasons or any type of evidence that the surface world would destroy Endora but just because of a "gut" feeling that it would be bad. For a man who claims to be a scientist he doesn't appear to be very convincing in his role and it makes sense why such an individual would be banished for challenging authority with no evidence and little reasoning. Overall the ideals and reasoning of the main characters made this anime lackluster and quite bad, i have not seen much of the anime but from what i have seen its a time waster at best and not something worth investing into.

It makes me sad to give this anime such a low ranking because the art is beautiful and it has some of my favorite voice actors. However, I can not look beyond the fact that this anime was painful to watch. I had to force myself to play each episode and each time it felt like the show was never ending.

I believe a large part of this had to do with the story itself. The plot drags on through the 24 episodes with repeated tropes throughout. The two main characters fight nonstop and everyone else, except for one side character, are utterly useless. The show ... had little to no character development until the very last few episodes and it was frustrating to witness.

Endride also held potential at the beginning and waisted it. So disappointing.

If there's a word I'd use to describe Endride, that word is "stiff."

It's there in the writing, it's there in the characters, and it's there in the animation. Just a general feeling of stiffness that takes away from most positives you could hope to find.

At first glance, Endride is a very pretty show. The character designs are nice and clean, the weapon designs are elaborate but fun in that Tokusatsu way, and in general it has a really nice palate and everything going on. But when you actually watch it move, it's just... well, stiff. The staging is perfunctory and unambitious, ... the characters move to a limited degree, and the action scenes are devoid of life and energy. It gives a very cheap and underwhelming feeling to an otherwise nice-looking series.

Unfortunately, that just continues in other elements. The story itself is fairly banal - a young boy, who hilariously is a rock and crystal collector, finds himself launched into a mystical fantasy world. More isekai good times, right? Well, kind of. The thrust of Endride is that there is a world within our world, an underworld, that is full of fantasy action and monsters and has been concealed from mankind through history. Our hero, Shun, wants to make his way back to the surface, and the only way to get there is with the "Babel" in Babylon, a city that has now been taken over by evil. Along the way, he finds a ragtag group of adventurers, including a rebellious prince.

So, yeah. Nothing here that you haven't seen before. The only real twist is the underworld idea, and it doesn't really play into much, as it still just looks like a fantasy kingdom with no real differentiation. You have humans and beastmen, and kingdom intrigue that's extremely shallowly developed.

Because to go along with stiff, you can call a lot of things here shallow. The main two characters, Shun and Emilio, are classic rivals - one in red, one in blue, one with a sword, one with a spear, a classic dynamic that's been around since Voltron. However, there's no reasoning behind it, and little development, at least as far as I watched before tapping out. It's kind of funny that they're two teenage boys that just kind of can't stand each other, but that's about it.

And no one feels very lively. We get lengthy mid-episode flashbacks trying to give our characters dimension and backstory, but it doesn't seem to connect a ton to who they are in the modern time, and it doesn't actually add depth to a lot of their actions. They just feel like a group of stock characters, fairly lifeless, and animated in lifeless fashion.

That's before we even get into the fact that the story moves along at a glacial pace. Those flashbacks? They eat up a ton of run time each episode, leaving us little time to actually... do anything. One episode is largely spent with the main duo teaming up with their happy little Robin Hood band - and doing laundry and chores. On the one hand, there's the potential for it to be charming - they're with mysterious revolutionaries, and being tasked with doing legwork and grunt work in this socialist commune environment where everyone has to pull their weight. But while it should be a comedic and light-hearted scene, there's barely any comedy actually pulled off in it, and the characters don't get a ton to do. Instead our effeminate seer takes a tumble into the lake, is revealed as a man despite his womanly appearance - though he does have a manly voice, too - and we find out that he has bad luck. And if it's a scene that's really played for comedy, or intended to be - and it seems like it might be just because I don't know what other response I'm supposed to be getting from it - it fails. It's just a series of events that happen.

I'll be honest, I went in wanting to like this show to a degree, and not even knowing the full bad press it had gotten, because I just kind of added a ton of shows to my watch list and forgot about them. I like going in blind. But going in blind didn't make it any better. It's just a nice on the surface package that falls apart as soon as it starts moving. Or not moving, as is far more often the case, because this show just kind of meanders through much of it's run time, going nowhere.
