Shokugeki no Souma: Ni no Sara

Yet another great show !

In my opinion it is a great sequel to first season of Shokugeki no Souma franchise.

The art is good, sound is good, character development is interesting to watch, and overall it's really enjoyable season.

They are growing, they are changing and learning from their experiences, but they still have a long way to go.

I made a mistake by now writing this review before I watched 4 seasons, and started 5.

... I will try to avoid anything specific about the story because I don't want to give any spoilers from this or other seasons.

Basically you will enjoy watching beautiful art, you will laugh through every episode, sometimes the characters will have some obstacles and you will se will they overcome them and if yes how.

It's interesting and at this point it's still a MASTERPIECE anime.

They have great art and sound all the time, as well as good story.

After this, at least to me, third season looked a little bit forced and like too much because it's 2 part all battles episodes.

So with the end of the 2. season it's still great anime with a lot of thing going on, different characters being there and making it even more interesting.

Hey folks, this will be a review for Shokugeki no Souma: Ni no Sara. This second season was a bit of a drop in quality in some ways. However it was still a really enjoyable show.

The story continues where we left off in the first season. The autumn elections are proceeding into the head to head matches. For those of you who thought this was a dragging part of the show, i'm afraid you'll be disappointed in this season. Nine of the thirteen episodes are dedicated to finishing the elections, and the ending is predictable, but not terrible. The last four episodes are dedicated to ... Souma growing again as he faces the next set of challenges. This nicely sets us up for another season, which i'll be looking forward to.

The art is top quality again. Soundtrack same as usual, though none of the music caught me.

The characters were mostly the same as they were in the previous season. There was little in the way of character development for anyone who didn't make it into the next stage of the elections. A new character was introduced and some side plots emerged a little but mostly everyone was the same. My only gripe here was that some of the characters lost a bit of the charm and the dialogue felt a bit forced and annoying. "You cant hope to beat me!" was literally said dozens of times. It just felt a little cheap and overused.

Overall I enjoyed this season but again it didn't feel as good. This season only had 13 episodes to work with and even though certain event were dragged out, it still felt rushed. The pacing of the first season was slow perhaps, but well done. Unfortunately there was something off with this seasons presentation and the pacing to be equally as good. For those who didn't like the ecchi bits of the first season, you may find the second season more appealing. There was far less sexual themed visions. This may seem like a win, but it also was a loss. Like I mentioned in my other review, even though it was over the top is still was able to convey the feeling of the food. This season though descriptive, was lackluster. It felt like the excitement, and the food was a bit wilted.

I think they did the right thing by showing us all of the cook off's. Though this season may have taken a dive in enjoyment, they left us with new possibilities and finished a section that could have meant the end of the show. I'll chalk this up to being a springboard season and await a fresh and enjoying season 3.

TLDR: Finishing up first season. Bit of a drop in quality in terms of characters and enjoyment. However it was still rather enjoyable.

story ⚠ : authentic. focus on the story, not out of line that has been determined. all episodes focus on the characters' competition & strategy to win. the way they describe the food is so detailed, a casual viewer who is not in the food field like me can even imagine what it was like. The story doesn't just show Japanese food, in the last episode when Yukhira was a chef at a French restaurant, he made French hash food. each episode has its own conflict which is quite strong, of ... course with a clear solution so that even one episode of the problem is solved (there are also episodes that are divided into two) I am always on fire & excited when watching this.

art : the depiction of food looks very appetizing. every cooking scene amazed me, the animation shown was very very different from the others. keep me focused, they have a strategy to seize attention to keep me focused on the laptop. (-) unfortunately the female character animation is too mature. a lot of people say this is like h3ntai, with so thick blushing cheeks and nude scenes while enjoying food (as well as y4wn which makes me uncomfortable) I always skip this part because it looks a little stupid.

sound : the sound of the competition makes a nervous feeling, everything is perfect. the pounding feeling made me feel like I was getting into the anime as a participant, a nervous feeling from head to toe.

character : frankly, while watching i always underestimate the main character. they look so calm and their cooking looks very ordinary compared to the opponent. but when judged by the jury BOOOM. they always get high praise, and the food on display is so much different. all the characters have very strong personalities, they are very good at cooking. although I know that as long as I watch I keep demeaning them, but so far I've never watched anime with such strong characters.

enjoyment : story, artstyle (except their hentai style) sound, characters with strong impressions, food wars is very satisfying. I always watch this every meal and I enjoy it!

The second season of Shokugeki no Souma is very similar to its first season. The story is a direct continuation and the art and voice acting are the same.

The story in the second season is mostly the continuation of the autumn elections followed by a few episodes about another interesting challenge. The pacting feels slightly slower and there is lots of attention for the cooking battles and the preparations leading up to them. Overall it manages to stay interesting quite well.

The characters are mostly the same as in the first season with one notable addition named Subaru Mimasaka. His cooking style is quite ... unrealstic but if the molecular gastronomy from the first season was acceptable then his cooking should be fine too. All in all it's nice to see the different personalities clash in cooking battles.

The art, voice acting and music are all the same as in the first season and are all pretty good.

Overall this is definitely worth watching if you liked the first season of the anime. It continues the story and gives plenty of fun cooking battles to watch.
