Preliminary Spoiler

Thunderbirds meets Gundam meets Power Rangers/Super Sentai. That's the most apt description I can think for this series.
This is the updated preview -> review, and I think the scores hold. The last 2 episodes are better than the others, but don't do enough to pull the overall score up.

Story: 6
Possibly the weakest link of the series. The story revolves around a team of police officers who operate from a mobile train base, and utilise Willwears, powered suits of armour, to fight crime. Sounds pretty exciting, right?
The problem comes from a complete lack of focus; only late in the series does Logos truly come into play. ...

I don't really like it when somebody tries to impress me by copying my favorites. After all, I could just interact with my favorite again if I wanted to, and it doesn't help that a lot of the times when something copies what I enjoy, it tends to miss the point entirely and thus we get a thousand Boondock Saints and five hundred Boondock Saints 2. Every once in a while though, you get one that gets what's up, or takes it in a direction you didn't know you wanted. As such, I was kind of looking forward to Active Raid despite it looking like ...

Wait...doesn't this premise remind you of Patlabor or Psycho-Pass? A little, but only on the surface. In practice, it's a lot closer to a newly self-aware entry in Toei's old Metal Hero series. Think Winspector meets Dekaranger, except guest starring Bonzi Buddy. Or just Power Rangers. That said, Active Raid was a hard sell right out of the gate. It isn't really innovative nor sophisticated, but in the end it can still provide some lighthearted fun for those who can sit back and relax without overthinking the material. Even Goro Taniguchi, who is one of the two directors involved, cautioned that this show wouldn't be ...

Mixed Feelings
Active Raid, while having a set plot in mind, felt like a hodge-podge of elements thrown throughout each episode, making me question what kind of series it wants to be.

The story has your typical futuristic setting featuring authoritarian and political plot lines with mechas thrown into the mix. Personally, I've always found it difficult to comprehend all of the futuristic jargon being delivered, but it just might just be I'm slow when it comes to stuff like that. The structure of the series is simple: early episodes are one-shots until the last few episodes where the "big picture" is finally put into play.

Our main set ...

So I liked this show a lot, but it's a niche kind of show. You'll either love it or think it's mediocre at best.

If there's any way to describe this show without specific examples, I'd have to say it's a well executed show full of tropes that we all want to see more of. It's really detailed at some points in regards to jargon, but kind of runs over others.

It doesn't really focus on just one character, it focuses on the ensemble as a whole. every character gets an episode or two to them self, except for like, that maintenance guy, but whatevs.

It has a ...

Preliminary (10/12 eps)
Active Raid! The show that will make you actively bash your head on the table as you watch it. This show is so dull and bland I feel like it's a metaphor for my love life!

The story is... well it's a lot like psycho pass! A young rookie girl (for some reason a 16-year-old in Active Raid...?) gets sent to work at the main police branch and is placed in a team of... Well... blatant rip off of the psycho-pass characters.

There's an old man that's like the father of the group, a "badass" who isn't really a badass just more annoying and lazy really, ...

I wanted to like this show more than I did really. After sitting through a couple episodes I usually become very bored. I went into this expecting police officer mystery and stuff involving robots. However, that quickly evolved into some power rangers stuff where they fight once and it's really just that.

The story itself had me wondering the entire time about why people would really want to do this. And is finally revealed on the last episode. (Wasn't worth it) Everything was smashed together. At least that what it felt like to me. A way to describe it is future stuff and hacking. That's ...

The futuristic setting and cool mecha suits promise excitement, but the execution falls short :/
The narrative or the whole story in general is a total meh. The only strong things that i can admit on this anime is the sound effects and the characters. Its cool and varied cast. Each character's got their own style and personality, which makes the anime interesting. Side characters like Haruka get some good development, but the main characters are kinda left hanging by the end.
The mecha action, which should be the highlight, often feels lackluster. The Willwears, despite their fancy designs, don't bring the level of excitement you'd expect ...
