Kyoukai no Kanata Movie 2: I'll Be Here - Mirai-hen

let me judge the movie in one sentence: it is so much better than the anime!

the anime that is the story before this movie was alright. fancy art but full of plot hole and unexplained details as the story progresses. I'm sure all of you who are reading have already seen the prequel so allow me to do some complaints. firstly, who is Akihito's dad? then secondly, why is Kuriyama so bloody damn strong then finally and most importantly, where the heck did Kuriyama come back from, she literally died twice and came back from like another dimension 2 times as well! then do you ... expect me to say: oh, don't worry, they will all be explained in the movie! No, none of these is explained anywhere in both the anime and the film. although we did know who Akihito's mom is which really isn't important for any plot, and I hope it doesn't count as a spoiler for you. anyway, back to the point, even though the film didn't explain all those big ass plot holes that can only be left to our imagination, it did a really good job at covering its own story plot. though, there wasn't really a bad guy they are just kinda trying to conquer their own darkness in their heart. the film talked about the MCs past that was not really mentioned in the anime, even though it is a tiny bit cliche, personally, I just enjoyed it a hell lot for some reason.

Story - 9/10: the story takes place one year after the ending of season 1, where Kuriyama is appeared out of nowhere. as I have said before, the story in the film was really nicely plotted, in the beginning, it was more of a slice of life than any action that we saw in the previous series. firstly everyone leads a happy life, then romance and PTSD happened and somehow they are all crying then fighting and the end, they live happily ever after. (going out finally)well, it is just some nice story.

Art - 10/10: ok, now, you cant say crap about Kyoto animation's art cuz it is just too good for me to judge, so I'm going to save all my trouble and give it a 10/10.

Sound - 9/10: the OSTs in the film were nice, and that's it. there was nothing special and nothing that stands out. but I'm not saying it just son plain and bad, they all fit wonderfully in their particular scene so no music seems to be out of place and the art of characters and landscape are just too good that you forget about the music in the background. XD

Character - 8/10: the characters I gave an 8, it is still pretty good but compared to their art and music's quality, characters are just pretty boring. but I have to say they are better than a lot of other main character couples. they don't go into seizure mode when they are about to do something to their partner and they are quite decisive which is an aspect I like a lot of anime character these days. but then again, they do go wild sometimes like you can see a ring falling with a ton of rocks 50 metres away from you and go into justice plus debating mode that conquer anyone's heart in one sentence. but overall it was pretty well made.

overall, I just want to say, if you watched the anime series and didn't feel satisfied, feel free to try this sequel because I promise this is a lot better than the anime and of course, you gotta see what happened to the crazy dude in glasses and izumy after she jumped into nowhere as well.

Three words: its not unpleasant.
Well basically, a lot of the answers I had at the end of all the 12 episodes have mostly been answered. There are A LOT OF AKIRAI OTP MOMENTS AND THATS MY KIND OF SHIT AYYY. Its not a stunning 10/10, and honestly if you were look through the eyes of a non-crazy person, it would probably be a 7/10. Warning this review will be slightly biased because I am an avid fan of the knk series and I have a Mirai complex.

Story 8/10. I suggest you skip if you dislike spoilers.
The story is completely confusing if you haven't watched ... the main series of course, but why would you be watching the "future" if you haven't seen the "past". Its honestly a huge roller coaster. It takes you up and down and you forget about reality and everything else. I was so drawn into it I fucking forgot Akkey was immortal !! Its very akirai focused, but it still shows you a lot of backstory about others like the Nase siblings.

Art: 7/10. Its KyoAni so no question about that.
Actually, this part kind of disappointed me. KyoAni's reputation is really beautiful animation art with basic story lines so if you don't get dazzled by the art then its kind of a let down. There are so many better KyoAni animes so if you have high expectations for KyoAni art, there are better choices. Either way, the battles are beautifully animated, as are the special effects in the bg. There are a lot of blur/3-D effects that were somewhat overused but really added nice effect and drama to the situation.

Sound: 10/10. The ost's are beautiful and match really well with the scenes they go with. I love all the seiyuus (voice actors) and Mimori Chihara especially, a lot of her songs are on my iPod.

Character: 7/10. I say this because as the anime is very Akirai focused, the movie is only more Akirai focused. Not I didn't like that, but I wish there was more backstory about the Nase siblings and Aya and Ai. Although they did add Nase sibling backstory which I was so happy to see. Still very akirai focused. though. We get to see how Mirai is developing after *SPOILERS* losing her memory. We get to see how Akkey and co. react to Mirai's sudden loss of memories. And we get to see how it happens. AND WE GET TO SEE HOW MIRAI SURVIVED FROM HER BLOOD CLAN WHICH I HAVE WRITTEN SO MANY FANFIC/IDEAS ABOUT. HYPE.

Enjoyment: 10/10. I love how they introduce a huge plot twist and then calms the audience down with something soothing and sweet (along with some backstory). I will say though, this whole movie was just plot twists and me jumping out of my chair and screaming (literally).

Overall: 9/10. Its not the best, there are things that could be improved, like character development. It was very focused on backstory and how the characters changed from then to now. To be fair its kind of hard for character development in the time span of a couple days. If analyses the symbols like the ring and the dove. Before the movie I had no idea what the ring was all about and it bothered me a lot. I love how this movie has its own separate theme, happiness, that was not in the main series. I enjoyed this and I think if you like sad angst love stories and KyoAni you can't possibly go wrong

The movie started pretty good actually. Compared to the anime it wasn't as great but both the anime and this movie failed towards the ending. They made a typical "friendship solves everything" movie. If we look past the ending then the movie itself was really entertaining.

I gave it a seven completely based because of the ending. If they would have made the ending different it would have gotten a 8 or a 9. Somehow the author always manage to pull off a great start and continues doing so during the whole movie/anime series until the ending comes. With both the series and the movie ... it felt like someone else took over and wrote the ending because it feels so lame.

Anyway the art, sound, action goes up to a 8 or 9. So i recommend watching this if you watched the series. You will be dissapointed of the ending if you're not a kid. Since the ending is like the Fairy tail series.

This movie has finally concluded the series, and it did it in a breathtaking way. Similar to other masterpieces out there, it was so beautiful that it actually left me unsatisfied, wanting more from the awe-inspiring experience that I felt from watching the movie.

The plot of the story was meant to be a continuation from the previous series, and it did not fall short of my expectations--it concluded the whole story nicely, simply speaking. Of course, we all have extra questions yet to be answered, but the movie finally gave us all we need to know about the main characters, being the focus of the story. There are some moments where we might react as confused when we see the scenes taking place in a dream or in some imaginary reality, but I believe that this was pulled off for the sake of seeing it in an artistic perspective. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't bad either.

The writing, however, is what I really commend the most. The subs are localized, so I know that I can't fully judge this aspect, yet let's not forget that the concept of these 'messages' are still intact, even though the words change from language to language. Let me also emphasize that the writing of the story also brings the essence of the characters itself, which lets us appreciate these characters more. For example, the heroine has coined herself a catchphrase, and when accompanied with good writing, this has turned into an anchor for the character itself, strengthening the story's emotion even more.

This time, the story is focused more towards the characters. No, its not about fighting battles or aiming a significant goal ahead of them, but rather, it is a series of happenings, which later reveals the story behind these characters and what makes them who they are. It is also because of this that helped conclude the whole story, because it answered the questions we had when the series started. The main characters are more fleshed out, and the side characters never became overbearing, either.

The art--as usual--is amazing and almost never dropped in quality. The palette also fitted the atmosphere quite well; it wasn't too vibrant, nor it was too dull. The lighting was appropriate most of the time, and the visual effects were cued at times where it would be most effective. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed--actually even more, thanks to the great soundtrack which supported the scenes.

Overall, I really enjoyed the movie. For a short amount of time, it made me get so indulged, yet I never felt rushed nor dragged out. I was pleasant, emotional, and satisfying. I really wanted more from this, even though I'm willing to give a perfect score. It has some flaws however, but I believe that this work of art deserves a 9/10.

I feel some empty void inside of me after I watched this movie.
I would not say this is the best anime but I would say this is the most emotional anime I ever seen although I've seen the mainstream animes that gives you heavy feels. Yeah it's a bit cheesy but it gave the feels like how can you not know what the FEELS are. *moan* I'm just kidding. I almost teared up when Mirai & Akihito were together when Mirai was sinking and Akihito is like he doesn't give a damn who or what she is (the cheesy part) but the feels were strong.
Although ... I didn't quite enjoy the TV series one that much I enjoyed this movie way more because I guess it showed progress into their relationship.
So I would give this 9/10. Very emotional indeed.

Before I start my review, I have to apologize for my bad English.

The movie comes to finish the story, and to answer many questions of the first season, all on the movie is good, animation, sound, story, and the characters development.

Art: 10/10
This is (in my opinion) the busiest anime in Kyoto Animation, but there were no inconsistencies, in the fight scenes the animation was impressive and left nothing to be desired. I also wanted to highlight the expressions that the characters emitted, everything was so detailed and incredible, that I could not fail to mention.

Characters: 9/10
The characters have a ... lot of development in this film, highlighting Mirai's past, and also focuses on developing the relationship between her and Akihito.

Story: 7.5 / 10
The story really is incredible and closes many points left in the first film, but it didn't completely close the history of the anime, there were things to be explained and the way everything was explained seemed a little busy for me.

Enjoyment: 10/10
The film is really very impressive and can hold you all the time, the non-forced drama can work well and is very well spent, I really found it very fun to watch.

Sound: 10/10
The soundtrack remains impeccable, in moments of struggle and drama it proves to be very exciting and exciting, it really gives an emotional appeal to the outstanding scenes.

We can understand perfectly what the protagonist is going through, and why he cannot tell Mirai what happened in the past between them. The drama goes very well in this film, you are taken by surprise of the many things that happen, it is not that kind of predictable anime, this film was incredible in many ways, and I believe that it was only possible thanks to KyoAni.

This is mine first review, I just said what I thought of the movie.

Light years better than the anime. I mean its not even a competition. Everything I wanted from the anime was fulfilled here. Man the animation and the emotion in this movie are fantastic. The storyline is still as confusing as ever but in full honesty I would of rather have just watched this and not the anime at all. Some really great moments and the ending is far superior to the anime. Only reason the rating isn't higher is because they're are some parts that are just straight boring or I just didn't really care about because I didn't really care for the character in ... the first place. But, I will say that is not the movie's fault but actually the shows fault. I really love this anime studio specifically for there artwork and man they did not disappoint. The silent voice movie was perfect in my eyes so it was definitely pretty hard to go against that. Anyway, I really enjoyed this anime movie and I fully recommend.

Refer to my review of the series for more depth, but I'll keep it real short. The movie gets one thing right: it replaces Mirai's voice actor for the dub. Otherwise, it sacrifices some of the charm of the original's character interactions for more dramatic beats we don't really have a good reason to understand or be too invested in. And boy does it look good doing it.

If you're invested in the story, the story moves, and it gets to a reasonable resting point. If you're looking for answers, you'll get something, but don't expect anything convincing or well-planned. It was alright, but ... it lost my attention a few times for sure.

It was ok but it doesn't live up to the anime which is sad I thought that the anime is where it should have ended off. Again the movie was ok but I wouldn't rewatch, unlike the anime where I would rewatch again. I honestly believe that they could have done the whole movie in a hour or 30 minutes at the least. It has so much dialog which is not my cup of tea but it probably is for others just not for me. The anime seemed like something you could watch and enjoy without beginning bored but to me, the movie had some ... boring parts that I just skipped over or I just was on my phone and waited till that part was over

Because Kyoukai no Kanata (TV) was great and the community rating was high (8.34 for the moment), I was kind of expecting an awesome movie as the sequel of this great series... but it wasn't.

I won't spoil anything because it's useless to describe how I felt in front of this film. I rated it 7 out of 10 because the art and sound are really good. But the rest was JUST ok, which is kind of a big insult for a series like Kyoukai no Kanata.

You wanted fancy creatures, a great story, a good scenario, nice characters... you had them in the series. The film ... is kind of just copying the image of the series and put it on the screen. But they forgot to make anything else. No tension, the scenario isn't there. You see characters you want to see. They fight and THAT'S IT!!!!

I'm sorry but this movie was slow, a bit boring, lacking at plot. There was a scenario, but after seeing the movie, I just think that this scenario was just an excuse to make an OVA for the Kyoukai no Kanata series. It takes place one year after the end of the series BUT you don't feel it. You don't feel the characters anymore, you don't feel the tension of the darkness hidden behind a good scenario. This film is a bad sequel because it's TOO NORMAL, it doesn't move at all. There is maybe 30 min of real useful content in this movie.

So my conclusion is, this sequel is beautiful, but it's nothing MORE, it's normal, it's boring, it's slow. 普通, totally normal so it wasn't interesting at all. Watching the series again is probably more enjoyable than watching this movie for the first time.

7/10 is really just because the esthetics were great and it was a bit entertaining. But don't watch this movie if you want a sequel to Kyoukai no Kanata, it's NOT A SEQUEL, there is just a LITTLE content in it. You have more content and plot in ONE or TWO episodes of the series than in 1h30 of the movie.

"Beyond The Boundaries"

Before I start, I want to apologize to anyone who loves this show. I'm trying to be as objective as I can, I judge it from a movie perspective and I didn't mean to trash anything.

[STORY (6)] The main problem this show has is the story telling. The concept was stunning. I love it. The problem was how the delivered the story. The plot was too fast. And the way the movie solve the problem or you can call it a resolution, it's like they made a lot of jump. They didn't choose to do it neatly. I don't mind if they did ... that. But please, provide a bolder dialogs to explain it. They could've done it neater. Explain how can we beat the evil, explain the importance of the ring, etc. Akihito's final fight was the one with that big hole. And also a couple of things didn't happened or solved in a natural way. It's like they skipped something important to make the resolution and plot flows more naturally. Doesn't mean it has to be realistic, but to make the story acceptable, you need to do it naturally. BUT, fortunately, they did the character development well. Even with that kind of plot at the end, but they still manage to delivered a good build up to that conflict. And they only have a big plot hole at the end, for the rest of the show, they did a pretty good job.

[ART (9)] Should I talk too much about the art? It's the goddamn Kyoto animation, ofc they have a stunning visual. This point right here really saved the show.

[SOUND (7)] An average scoring. The OST wasn't really good too but it wasn't a bad one. It was average. The excellence was the sound mixing and the voice actors.

[CHARACTER (8)] What I do like from Kyoto animation is the fact that they always have a unique character. Here's we have a useless and never give up immortal stealth also a glasses fetish, a cute junior with her signature line, a siscon and also a reliable big brother, and a tsundere type of girl with a cold attitude but somehow funny.

"BEYOND THE BOUNDARY: I'LL BE HERE- FUTURE"

Genre- Action, Magic, Super Power, Supernatural, Drama, Seinen.

Memories, shape you and make you a person that represents who you are. Forgetting the most essential things in one's life is something that can turn out to be a big curse, one that is even bigger than immortality, and something that might just make your life a living hell.

Not knowing whom to trust and where to turn to, Kuriyama Mirai losses her memory after stopping 'Beyond the Boundary' in the first season. The movie acts as a continuation to the anime and helps to showcase the happy ending that was missing ... in the anime. Starting where the anime left off, the movie portrays a harmonious act of Kuriyama trying to regain her memories while Akihito tries everything in his power to stop her from going back to the hell that she just came out from. While the story and animation itself hit the chart, the subtle comedy and delay of plot progression bring down the movie as an overall film. It lacks the basic events that need to happen for the story to progress further and this eventually bores the viewers to sleep.

On the technicals, we can say that the movie makes a clear mark in history with its flawless animation and over-the-top action scenes but leaving these two major advantages, everything else acts as a setback and this just makes it a 'meh' type anime movie overall.

This movie is recommended for every "DRAMA" lover.
