Soukou Kihei Votoms

Though Votoms is aimed at a more mature audience then Gundam, both are about civilizations that have been at war for many years and are now looking to further evolve humans in order to gain the upper hand. Whether they call them Newtypes (Mobile Suit Gundam) or Perfect Soldiers (Soukou Kihei Votoms), both series present characters who have a naturally or genetically enhanced battle potential compared to normal humans. They have heightened senses and are thus feared on the battlefield by other pilots. Both series are very character driven and have a lot of development for especially the protagonists. 

the first 12 episode of 5Ds is so much similar to votoms, the main character in each anime for different reasons had been chased by group (5ds: security votoms; army), and they shares the same calm and cool personality, and they had been betrayed by someone they didn't expect. 

VOTOMS and Gundam are huge Sunrise franchises, so it is bound to be some similarities. However, I think VOTOMS is most similar to the 08th MS Team, since both anime share the love for gritty and realistic action, making them prime examples of real robot anime. Also, both of them have an 'impossible love' relationship and both are partially inspired by the Vietnam war. 

Both shows are set in the far future, mixing up elements of cyberpunk and dystopian fiction. They both have a gritty atmosphere, great action scenes, but what's more important, they have similar main characters - both Juzo and Chirico are ex-soldiers who have lost their memory and are caught up in an intrigue involving secret factions and military secrets. So, despite their age difference, I think both shows just have similar vibes to them. 

Apart from the fact that both are mecha anime produced by Sunrise, both Gundam IBO and Votoms have a certain degree of grittiness that is rarely found in mecha anime. Both focus on the lives of simple soldiers as they go from battle to battle, both have great mecha action, and both have somewhat similar main characters (Chirico and Mikazuki). 

The second season of Gundam 00 reminded me a lot of Votoms. Apart from the fact that both are mecha/military anime produced by Sunrise, I couldn't help but notice the similarities between the transhumanist themes explored in them. The differences behind Innovade/True Innovators and Perfect Soldier/Overman are quite similar, and Setsuna and Chirico are very similar characters. 

Both anime are quite similar when it comes to atmosphere and world-building. In both cases, they have somewhat realistic mechs and focus mainly on soldiers and the battlefield, with some nice military combat scenes. 

Both from the same director, have real robot grunt-suit mecha on wheels, and worlds that are consumed by war. 

The similarities between these two series are specifically in regards to Shingetsu, and VOTOMS' MC Chirico. Shingetsu's personal journey and status in the Granbelm competition is very similar to how Chirico's is during the war. The similarities between the two characters goes beyond their stoic attitudes and general character growth progression, as both series have a pretty identical, spoilery reveal regarding them at towards the end of the series 

Both series have heavy focus on the grunts in war, with mass produced mecha used as replacements for traditional infantry. Stella's characterization is reminiscent of Chirico's, and the episodes where she is the lead are the ones that will be most enjoyable if you liked VOTOMS. 

Both shows have in them practically designed mechs, as well as both shows depicts militarised conflicts in a sci-fi setting. While Votoms focuses on the battles, Dallos leans more of it's narrative ambiguity and it's strong themes. 

being from the same company, to me the simmilair thing lies in the enemy;s army suit design , in both gundam and votoms the enemy's army suits are derived and parly inspired by the uniforms from ww2, mainly the german designs and because japan was sadly part of the back then axis of evil! 

Most of the similarities lie in the mecha designs and style than anything else, but if you're into the genre, this is probably one of the reasons you watch a series. I wish that IGPX went with the pilot, but I was still satisfied with the end product. Anyway, a mecha battling arena plays a big part in the earlier portions of Votom's story, and acts a teaser to draw you deeper into the universe. 

Mozaicka is so incredibly obscure that I can't really think of specifics for this recommendation, but chances are if you enjoy Ryosuke Takahashi's early directed works like Votoms, Layzner, Dougram, etc, chances are you'll get some enjoyment out of Mozaicka since his usual style is definitely there.  

Mecha shows? More like hard/sci-fi. Fang of the Sun Dagram marks the directorial debut for Ryosuke Takahashi [edit: under Sunrise], widely known for his successful Votoms franchise. Votoms and Dougram (along with Layzner and potentially Galient) are probably the most serious, grittiest, mature, 80's mecha series out there. While Dougram is far more political, dialogue heavy, and loaded with a bigger cast, whereas Votoms focuses more on Chirico's journey - both shows put a heavy emphasis on detail, whether it be plot or action related with the gritty mech's, and they're just generally mature and -manly- shows all around. These are shows that even non-mecha fans could probably get into if they're into militaristic/war sci-fi.  read more 

Similar main characters and motivations, but the setting of Votoms is future hard sci-fi rather than alt-history. If you enjoy the premise of Jin-rou you'll enjoy Votoms.

Classic 80's Sunrise mecha shows. While the storyline and characters aren't really comparable between the two, the shows do give off a similar kind of vibe and atmosphere. Zeta Gundam is often noted as being one of the darkest Gundam series out there with a very serious tone and so forth, and Votoms itself is very gritty, realistic, and all around consistently mature. Votoms has a trio of goofy and likeable characters for some comedic elements but at the same time, the show sometimes feels even darker than Zeta. Both tend to get a little supernatural by the end and it works really well. Chances are if you like one of these shows, you'll be able to appreciate and enjoy the other a lot too. read more 

both space opera. the main team shows similar feelings. 

There are a lot of smaller details that make them similar despite major plot differences. Both have grunt mech combat where the machines are far from invincible. Both leads are however extremely capable fighters without being invincible death machines, both have certain super human and paranormal elements and both unfortunately have pretty miserable conclusions.
