Just some anime I've seen that I think do a good job of hitting emotions that are hard to put into words.

What makes an anime a classic? This is a hotly debated topic in the anime community. I've seen people argue that status as a classic is about popularity, impact, memorability, acclaim, etc. But definitions that try to analyze anime based on a series of factors too procedural and legalistic for my taste (which is funny given that I will soon be an actual lawyer).

To me, like any other piece of literature, an anime is a classic if people continue to think it has great value over time. This definition may be broad and fairly vague, but I think it reflects how people actually think of "classics." So based on that definition, these are the anime I think either already are classis or will prove themselves to be classics.

Notes: This list is a work in progress. For anime with multiple seasons, if I upload only the first season, assume that that includes all subsequent seasons. If this stack gets too large, expect a Part II. No movies for this list, but I might make another stack for movies.

Animes that make for great "turn your brain off" viewings. I'm using "schlock" in all its broad iterations; from blacksploitation films to campy ultraviolence. If it crosses the realm of tacky to achieve great camp-value, it earns its spot here. Whether ineptly produced, expertly crafted or otherwise, they're all good ol' dumb fun!

I'm open for suggestions.

Anime known for being confusing, for a wide variety of reasons. Maybe the story is told out of chronological order, maybe it's storytelling is abstract, maybe it makes use of metaphor and surrealism, maybe it is purposely left up to interpretation. Whatever it is, it's going to require a rewatch.

Animes with that Specific vibe and atmosphere that you can't put a name to but you know which vibe I'm referring to once you see them.

Anime featuring mainly traditionally animated, hand drawn robots made between the year 2000 and 2009. As CGI started being used in anime in this period, some mecha series started shifting towards CGI robots, I think this list would be really helpful.

special shoutout to Flowers of Evil and Another (also edgelord pieces I was obsessed with but those came out after 2011 so I didn't include them)

Personally I think Gundam is pinnacle of mecha anime but since a big chunk of the series
is interconnected, I only included gundam series which are watchable as a standalone

These are anime that are bright and eventful... chaotic and possibly confusing, but never dull.

These are a list of anime found on the reddit post of the same name (https://www.reddit.com/r/Animedubs/comments/1038ih1/good_must_watchdubbed_anime/) that I found to be interesting and will be watching myself. I'll be leaving the first season of each show, of course you should watch the continuation of them in future seasons and OVAs if you enjoy the initial show.
