Recently translated into English for the first time, Sequence is a highly evocative buried treasure that excels in communicating its simple themes through its audio-visual presentation. Plot wise, it presents an interesting fusion of time-travel, reincarnation and shoujo romance. This makes it somewhat unique, and perhaps more interesting to those who may find straight romance stories to be lacking in imaginative appeal. It's a big ol mystery box, and when they open the mystery box, there's nothing inside of it. The personalities of the characters don't even matter; it's all about the reveal, and the reveal isn't even a twist, per se. It's just an explanation for something else that I cannot imagine someone getting deeply invested in. We don't even get to know why anyone is in love ...
