Non Non Biyori

When I looked in the review section I saw tons and tons of reviews that had the rating '10' calling this a work of art and stuff like that. I personally disagree with that. Yes, I dropped the show and only made it through a few episodes but from those few episodes I could form an opinion of it. I am not telling you to not watch this anime, I am simply sharing my opinion, if you like this as a 'work of art' then go ahead.
Anyways, this really sucked.

The story is just the characters doing stuff with no end goal in sight, no ... change and no development. I am mostly okay with this because I don't get butt-hurt if someone doesn't really develop in a story. This happens in some of my personal favourite shows (Just to show you that I am not biased, see Diamond Is Unbreakable and Golden Wind.) that if the main characters had a true development arc would be significantly better. This can be excused if the story is entertaining, and for the the show failed to do that.

There was a scene in the third episode that was supposed to be emotional but was just outright lazy. What they did to express sadness was zoom in on the characters face for thirty seconds straight, with some occasional changes for the last twenty seconds of it. Out of all the shows I have ever seen, that is the laziest portrayal of sadness I have seen. The scene could have been way more effective just by making it shorter.

I can't speak on much else because I never got through the series. I tend to drop a load of the shows I watch if they bore me, and If this show did one thing right, It was that.
It had some positive things, I can remember liking some of the art, but other than that its just boring.
Once again, I am not telling you to stop watching this, watch it if you want, go ahead, No one is stopping you, I just really disliked it.

The story is sort of about some country kids who have moved from Tokyo and are experiencing culture shock with their new environment as most people will, especially at a very young age like these girls are. It's a feel-good series that will brighten your days even if your sad with rare touching moments in it. Not a very original plot with cliched characters.

I don't know why people are so into these characters, they're pretty much your typical whiny kid. The only one I like out of the bunch and is my favorite character is Natsumi, now she was fun to watch but not great ... because she does get explosive. But the other characters are mediocre, Hotaru is a crybaby, Komari is a know-it-all who hates being called and treated like a little girl. And the youngest girl (I forgot her name but I think it's Rin), rather acts more like an adult than a kid.

I'm one who doesn't think this needs a sequel because I'm not fond of Non Non Biyori, it was a childish and silly comedy series with some weird elements to it, not surprising for a series aimed at kids but even they might find some of the series' music too babyish. Though, the series is not very very weird but it's still weird. Though, some parts did make me laugh but some jokes fell flat.
