The Last: Naruto the Movie

Note: I am currently up to date in the anime and I've completed the Manga in its entirety. Also this review will be less vague as and somewhat more in depth than the others that are currently posted but my review will include some events that happened in the film so if you don't want to be spoiled then you have been warned

The Last: Naruto movie is just as it was advertised months before it's release in Japan, a love story mixed with a few aspects of the ... series that most fans will enjoy watching.

Story - 7/10

If you're coming into this film expecting some mind blowing story packed with tons of twists and reveals then you will be very disappointed. However with that being said, the meat of the plot is as was advertised, Naruto and Hinata trying to come to terms with their true feelings for each other and it was done very well in my honest opinion. The romance could have been a lot better but for what we got, Kishi succeeded justt fine in my books The other aspect of the story included the likes of our Antagonist Toneri Ootsuki whom is a descendant of the Sage of the Six Paths' s brother that is hell bent on destroying the earth via the moon and a new bloodline release known as the Tenseigan (Totally not a rip off of Inuyasha's Tenseiga xD).

Upon looking at this at face value one would simply think that this is just the typical "villain of the week" and for the most part you're not wrong however one thing that I will give to this aspect of the film is that it didnt create any plot holes for the actual story and it gives the Hyuga Clan a proper origin story that makes sense (The clan was descendant from the Sage's brother). Moreover, the other aspects of the story revolved around the situation in Konoha and we get to see that Kakashi is already the Hokage and that the ninja world has already begun to become more technologically advanced and have produced a powerful chakra cannon. Personally I find this to be pretty ridiculous and just awkward but hey, they have macbooks and their own version of NYC in the future lol so whatever xD


Art/Sound - Same score - 9/10

Pretty much the best things about this film without question. The voice acting was really good, the cast really hit the nail when it came down to the more emotional and serious scenes as well. I'd like to particularly single out Sakura because her voice actor managed to perfectly capture the maturity that the character went through and made her sound like a mature young lady. The other character that I'd like to single out is Toneri.

Unlike with Sakura I was disappointed by the voice actor'a performance. Him being the voice of iconic characters such as Lelouch from Code Geass gave us hope for a stellar performance however the character itself was one of the weak points of the film and the voice acting for said character made him even more lackluster of a character. The art and animation was easily one of the best that I've seen in all of the Naruto films and the character designs were all pretty good at depicting how these characters grew in the past 2 years physically, especially Naruto, his design really worked well. The action scenes were the parts that were animated the best and the fight scenes flowed very fluently


Characters - 7/10

Apart from the main cast, most of the other characters involved in the film barely had any major role and there was no development for said characters (Example, Ino, Chouji, Lee, Raikage etc) and then there was little development for characters such as (Kakashi, Shikamaru, Sai, Sasuke and Hinabi) that which in itself is pretty disappointing but alas this is a story about 2 individuals - Naruto and Hinata

Naruto was typical Naruto minus him being annoyingly stupid all the time however the stem of his stupidity came from the fact of how oblivious he was to Hinata's feelings (Yes I think it is safe to say that we can add Naruto to list of "Dense Motherfuckers" lol. Even so the film managed to come up with an acceptable way as to how Naruto eventually realized his true feelings. Apart from that he was his natural gung ho self and rushed into action except this time he was the one giving out the beatings which was great to see. It was also funny too see how Naruto became such a ladies man (It made me cringe at times but he still handled it well lol)

Hinata - For a good chunk of the film, Hinata was her typical self that is her being really shy, however as the film progresses we begin to see that development that she got in the manga and we get to see her think on her own, become more assertive as well as show off her own combat prowess and resolve. What I particularly liked was that her feelings for Naruto only got stronger and what we found out from her flashbacks of their childhood (Such as when she said that she'd want to spend her last days on earth with Naruto) was just beyond cute....NaruSaku fans can say whatever they want but Hinata was easily the best choice for Naruto. She also played a vital role in the conflict aspect of the film and for the most part she played it well

Sakura - Why is he singling out Sakura here? One might say upon seeing this. Personally ever since the Sasuke Retrieval arc back in Part 1, I hated Sakura to no end because of how she kept on leading on Naruto, she was useless in battle and her obsession with Sasuke (My most hated character) was just retarded. However, this film actually made Sakura somewhat likeable believe it or not. Kishi did a very good job with her because not only was she useful in regards to the mission (Her fight scenes were great too) but she played an important role in the romance aspect too. As time went on I began to see that Sakura was always meant to be that close female friend/sister figure to Naruto and this film really brought that out because she consistently gave support to Naruto and Hinata and was genuine and very mature about it, heck she even made a few funnies along the road too. Moreover surprisingly she even brought up Naruto's crush on her and I guess in a sense what she said was the truth but it was still kind of confusing. Either way, everything that fans hate about Sakura was absent in this film (There was no obsession over Sasuke-kun) and her growth as a character was pretty cool to see

In regards to rest of the core characters, Sai and Shikamaru were useful just like Sakura and contributed a lot to the mission and helping Naruto get his shit together. There personalities were pretty much the same whereas with Sai he was more or less comic relief and for the most part he was funny (Like when he sarcastically thanked Sakura from waking him up from a nice dream that he was having with his deceased elder brother lol). Kakashi and Hinabi did not really do much but Kakashi kept things together in Konoha while Hinabi was in distress but she also helped Hinata out in regards to her feelings.

Now I know that a lot of people were disappointed to hear that this film barely has Sasuke in it but imo Sasuke had the best and most badass scene in the entire film...The suspense during that one moment was just amazing and and I was just screaming this guy's name in massive fangasm mode xD It also showed his growth as a character because he stayed true to his word of protecting the village....Lee had one scene and it was cool and all but it wasn't nothing special

Overall

Personally I really enjoyed this film because nowadays I'm a sucker for romance and seeing how Naruto and Hinata came together leading up to that cute kiss scene in the end (Yeah it was over the top but it was still nice to see Naruto finally kissing a girl) just made me melt. The action scenes were great but I wasn't as hyped for them because in this day an age I've almost seen it all and the fights didn't wow me but I enjoyed them nonetheless even if they were lackluster at times. I guess I'm trying to say that there was no sense of fear or tensiom in this aspect.

If you're a fan of NaruHina, you're gonna love this film, if you're NaruSaku then you'd possibly hate it but at least you can enjoy seeing how Sakura has grown. The film has moments of the series that fans worldwide would love but the villain and lack of suspense/a complex story might be a huge turn off.

P.S. Even though Kurama barely spoke/appeared in this film, his fight scene was probably my favorite....I'm kinda salty that Naruto on went Kyuubi Chakra Mode in this though

EDIT: Forgot to mention the post credit scene.....Everything from the wedding images to the baby photos to seeing cute little Bolt and Himawari play with with their mommy and daddy was just the walking definition of *kawaii*

Can you say contrived? Because that is what I got out of this movie. This is what happens when you try to make a romance movie based on a shonen: contrived. Romance should never be the focal point of a shonen, so you'll forgive me if I don't understand why there was such a fuss over who canonically had sex and who didn't, because all the romantic development on the part of the characters was glossed over. And this movie takes the contrived romance of Naruto to another level.

If you've been living under a rock for the last 2 years, this movie showcases the romantic ... development, or lack thereof, of Naruto and Hinata. Now I don't mind Naruhina: they're a very sweet, tender kind of couple and to this movie's credit, it was pretty nice to see them finally get together. It was the events that led up to it that bothered me.

First there was Hinata's unnecessary angst throughout the movie. Naruto has replaced Sasuke (who only shows up for like 15 seconds by the way) as the village stud, and all the girls have suddenly started to shower him in gifts. She knits a scarf for Naruto as a sort of romantic gesture, but finds out he already has another scarf and thinks he already accepted another girl's feelings (spoiler: it belonged to his mother. Whoops.) So anyway, what brings her out of her angst is when Naruto has a romantic epiphany because some dream version of Sakura told him that romantic love is not the same love he has for ramen. The fuck? You expect me to believe that he went through all of his childhood and teenage years and never once experienced romantic love? He had a crush on Sakura early on, but that was kind of brushed off as a sort of competition with Sasuke, so I guess not.

That is not only very unrealistic, but it's implied many times that it's because he's an orphan that he never learned to love, which is kind of a shitty thing to say. Plus, confusing a favorite food with romantic love could have other implications that I won't get into. Still, it wouldn't be Naruto if there weren't people with magic eye powers fucking things up wherever they go, and don't you worry, this movie has a little of that thrown in.

Basically, some loner who lives in a castle on the moon wants to destroy the world because the people of Earth went against his clans wishes or whatever. He kidnaps Hinata's sister and Hinata follows to save her, obviously. The thing is, the moon man is also in love with Hinata. It wasn't enough that they had to write a romance based on a shonen, but they also had to incorporate a love triangle. Naruto wins by punching him and yelling something cheesy about a scarf, then he and Hinata make out in the sky. Then it flashes forward a few years later, where it shows that the happy couple has given birth to their bratty son and a daughter that Kishimoto apparently forgot about. Hooray.

In conculsion, even if you actually enjoyed Naruto, you wouldn't be missing out on a lot if you skipped this. Not only did they shove about 95% of Naruhina's romantic development into a two-hour timeframe, but they came up with some random bullshit to explain why Naruto is so dense. The only reason you probably should watch this is to see your favorite character get 5-10 minutes of screentime, but otherwise, it's not worth your time at all.

Naruto: The Last is a film that gets more frustrating the more you think about it.
I approached Naruto: The Last hoping it would give Naruto and Hinata's relationship some real time to develop, because it's more or less the same at the end of Shippuden that it was at the start of the original series.

That doesn't happen!
The two spend most of the film separated from each other. Hinata is demoted from an underpowered ninja to a literal damsel in distress, spending about two minutes of the entire movie doing something ninja-like. Naruto comes to fall in love with her, because... Well, I suppose he has ... to! They don't get any real low-stakes moments to bond, nor do they get to do any fighting TOGETHER (bonds are formed through battle in Shonen!).

I could go on about the various other ways that the movie annoys me. Kurama is almost entirely absent (convenient for the writers or not, he deserves to have a real presence!), everyone's power levels seem to be extremely flexible depending on what's convenient for maintaining tension, so much more.
BUT,

I don't actually need to, because it didn't do what it set out to do: allow Naruto and Hinata's relationship to truly blossom.

I've been waiting to see this film for a while curious about the events that lead to the sequel 10 chapter Naruto Gaiden and the coming of the NaruHina pairing, so after waiting for ages to a point of forgetting about the film's existance completely I had a look recently and saw it had been subbed, so of course I watched it and my expectations were not met?

- Story 6/10 -
Filler, Filler, Filler...The story feels too much like a filler, as with before the previous Naruto movies it was undertandable as they were "filler" movies so I never had any real expectations towards them but ... as this is completely canon I could not help with shouting filler and bullshit at the screen while I was watching it. Okay I guess I should tell you the underlying plot, the moon is getting closer to earth which means total annihilation all the villages realise this. During that time Hanabi (Hinata's sister) is kidnapped so Naruto, Hinata and others go to rescue Hanabi there is some good stuff that happens before with how people now treat Naruto but I will not spoil that. Turns out the guy who kidnapped Hanabi (Skull Kid) is also the guy who is fast tracking the moon to earth (Happy Mask Salesman) so of course battles insue.

Good animation, better than recent episodes of the anime but the fact that Hinata's boobs have shrunk troubles me.

Didn't even notice there was a soundtrack most of the time.

- Character 7/10 -
The whole love story behind NaruHina is touching and nice but overcast by how cheap the viliain (Majora's Mask) is. Toneri Ootsutsuki uses an unlimited supply of puppets with limitless chakra with a combination of energy blasts and special beam cannons. Da Fuq am I watching Naruto or DBZ? Toneri's character is dull and selfish and makes me think of Enel from One Piece up until he goes into that sage form and then he "IS" Enel from One Piece. Overall the bad guy ruins the film with his overpowered abilities and makes you wonder why Naruto just didn't go full Kurama Mode on his ass from the beginning.

I felt like they should have focused on the NaruHina pairing as this is the basis of the film and went with a more subtle villain, the whole film felt like a mess of Kishimoto not knowing what exactly he wanted this film to be.

I have been a Naruto fan for ages. But I cannot accept... stupid romance.

now I am not a huge fan of romance but I can stand it as long as it okay and not overly cliche (like most of the romance story are) and thanks to this movie I was able to watch the most horrible movie that I ever watched. why because it destroyed naruto!!! one of my favorite anime!!!
The film is not worth watching. the whole plot really ridiculous and stupid. why?! BECAUSE THE WHOLE MOVIE IS A COMPLETE FILLER THAT MUTILATED NARUTO AND OTHER CHARACTERS!!! the naruto characters I grew up ... is never like that! they ruin naruto, I can't see how naruto is going ever do some stupid things like that!
and somehow the film is just about Hinata dealing with her love for Naruto hello?! this is shounen manga, people not shoujo!! throwing some romance into the whole plot is like forcing shounen anime fans to eat shit! I came here to watch some epic fight scene and not some damsel in distress dealing with her stupid love that I don't care about! and the story is completely cliche! that makes me want to puke!
Sasuke and Kakashi did not play major role even though in the trailer they appear like they'll do major role! but nooooo the main character in the movie is a damn scarf! this movie is a complete disaster that I don't even want to watch it again!

So after watching The Last: Naruto the Movie, I just thought I'd share my thoughts and overall feeling of the movie. [Slight/Minor spoilers ahead]

The story: Set two years after the Fourth Great Shinobi War, a new threat has arisen in the form of Toneri Otsutseki (descendant of Kaguya)

With the moon threatening to break apart and rain down upon the village of Konaha, Toneri needs the Byakugan to complete his Tenseigan (a legendary dōjutsu created from the thousands of Byakugan sealed by the Ōtsutsuki clan over the last one thousand years)

I was able to understand the story overall, but at times it felt all over the ... place and sometimes convoluted. Some scenes were so over the top even for the Naruto series.

Toneri as the main villain and a descendant of the Otsutseki , I never did feel that he was an imposing threat. He was a pretty generic villain and for this being "The Last" Naruto movie, you would think that a more imposing villain would be present.

Now the main plot point, that is supposed to be the main selling point for the movie. The relationship between Hinata and Naruto. I get what they were trying to do, but in the end it felt rushed and was only there for the movie's plot. It's hard to believe that Naruto fell in love with Hinata through flashbacks of memories. It's like flicking a switch and saying "Oh, I love this person now" or "I get it now, she's loved me from the very beginning, I guess it's time to settle for her"

This could've been handled better or approached with a different direction than how it was handled.

I didn't get the feels that I got when Naruto meets his dad, or how his parents protected him when he was a baby.

Overall, I felt that it was an okay movie, nothing amazing, dare I say slightly underwhelming.

This Movie was terrible. I 've never seen something bad. I loved the series and had a very long time the series not watched. Since I learned that ending the Manga, I decided to look in both chapters and found there was nothing answered and the last chapter blew my head away with nonsense.The Movie was called the Last and should have answers ready. Since I do not live in Japan, I found by lot of tumblr user the plot and pretty much bullshit about the movie.

Unfortunately I do not know where these good ratings come from but from yahoo ... the japanese website the review around 2.8 of 5. You should remember that first and foremost the Japanese fans have seen the film. I read in facebook and tumblr that the Narusaku Fans and other Fans were salty and were red herring. I was like wtf. Since when Naruto and Sakura is a deception. Not only the main characters have not evolved to the positive rather to the negative, but the story has changed dramatically from no reason. From my opinion this is an alternative universe with a complete nonsense ninja history. Let's go first to the main characters. Naruto is not following the manga. Sakura has given up her love to him because rivalry to Sasuke.I was like wtf What did you do with her , Naruto made a promise to bring Sasuke back and fullfilled. Sasuke appeared for under 1.minute and Hinata was a main character, although she was the whole series a side character and had few appearances. If she was so important why she was not selected as the main characters in the series. Many important Characters were taken out (like yamato, team taka, etc.), and not even mentioned. For some inexplicable reason, all the characters at the end of movie and the manga up with various people and have ridiculous children, although a majority of people in the manga have never had a less contact with another (Example Choji and Karui/Sai and Ino).

In this Movie Hinata was first Bond, Love, and a good Friend of Naruto although the manga says otherwise. I always thought Sasuke was his first Bond and Sakura was his First Love. Where are Team 7 Moments? Naruto knew kage bunshin no jutsu at the age of 5 years, but here is the Problem in the Manga it a contradiction. A lot People say he can use it, but then the question why does Naruto need in the first chapters need to steal the scroll if he had this similar Jutus already. This movie has many plot holes that you should ask yourself seriously, would you recommend this to a friend. I showed a Non-Naruto and his anwer; Why you do you watch such a shit nobody deserves that.

It would be an easier solution in this movie. Bring Naruto together with Sakura and Hinata. Sasuke should go with Karin. Why I come to this decision, quite simply it would not be that would be better than this movie.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS IN STORY SECTION
Given the sometimes harsh critique I have heard about this movie I thought I'd watch it now that I saw it being subbed and felt like I have to give my 2 cents for potential viewers.

Story - 9: I found the story actually pretty refreshing. It was nicely tied to the entirety of Naruto series that I have been following since who-knows-when and seeing how the relationship between Hinata and Naruto plays out was beautiful if you ask me. There wasn't any deep and that dramatic changes to what was shown in the actual series already, but ... I honestly felt good watching to the plot move on rather than feeling shame like with your usual movie made of an serie. I personally dislike the moon theme as it is so worn out and hard to make seem solid plotwise but otherwise it was good.
About the villain of this movie, well... It's a movie so you can expect that the villain havent been shown before really but I think he had logical enough connection to the story to make him seem reasonable.
The ending (which I consider starting from the credits and lasts till the very last second of the movie) was touching and made me shed a tear of joy.

Art - 10: The art was really good. You could easily recognize places and characters, more on those later, and the animation was simply outstanding. Fighting moves were absolutely stunning and fluid and scenaries looked good. I have nothing bad to say about this.

Sound - 10: Every sound, every background music, every single voice acted part were spot on. Every tune was really Narutoish and fit the mood and scene perfectly. There wasn't any stupid screaming or of the sort that would disturb the viewing experience.

Characters - 10: The whole cast of the characters we all love. A lot of different characters had screen time without feeling pushy to me and it was refreshing to see them after the end of Naruto Shippuuden.
A special shoutout of course to the main pair Naruto and Hinata who show how a character can develop a lot during a serie and even within a movie only. Hinata also looks way better than in Shippuuden I think.
This movies villains animation is good but his personality drops a bit flat to me. He just seemed too obsessed on things that didn't matter as much.

Enjoyment - 10: That being said, enjoyment was absolutely massive. The fact I got so absorbed to the movie that I almost threw my drinking glass to the wall when my stream glitched halfway through speaks for the eagerness that woke up within me while watching it.
I never had to even stop to think about that it is a movie and there cannot be any everlasting damage to the main characters. I just kept watching for the entirety of 1 hour and 50 something minutes. It was well worth it.

Overall - 10: It is a 9.6 actually but I want to round it up for the big warm, heartfelt smile it gave me towards the end. I felt that the serie actually got a beatiful ending, given I dont think they are gonna give up on Naruto anytime soon in a form or another.
We are dealing with a movie here so I think its absurd to wait for something that is delivered within a 12-420 episodes. They got roughly as much time as 6 episodes so I think it delivered a set that was solid and very enjoyable for the time given.

And the bottom line if you prefer a short review: Good character development, a well paced plot, beatiful animation, wide amount of characters and a touching ending.

I defenitely recommend to any Naruto fan out there.

I won't go into many details. In my opinion the author just wanted to satisfied the majority by giving them some romance between Naruto and Hinata. That is all this movie is, a romantic story between a clueless guy and a girl that has been chasing him through out his entire life.

The Story:

I found it compelling, i'm a sucker for romance, so I was satisfied to see how things played out. I think the story had a nice drama comedy atmosphere to it, and at least we get to see Naruto show some romantic feelings toward the girl who deserved it. Some action in the ... mix, as well as some nice cut scenes in the end credits.

The rest of the criteria were nicely met by this movie. Just go watch it, enjoy it and don't hate it. Is a nice change of pace for the franchise, besides the story is about tweens, not teens or kids, so it had to get romantically serious at some point.

Watched it for NaruHina (Naruto and Hinata) and I was not disappointed, rather I was overjoyed because OTP.

The only thing I didn't like about the characters was their persona's were different than usual, but hey it may be a development that I just missed ._.

A little secret (please don't get offended):
I was a NaruSaku fan but I realized that I wasn't going to work out because there is always an entity called "Sasuke" so then I switched to NaruHina, never have I regretted it. If I was still a NaruSaku fan my heart would be crushed if I watched this.

I love when romance is appropriately done. I am not against it in any show/anime/cartoon.

This movie was not a good example of it.

For whatever reason, a guy on the moon pines for Hinata and wants her hand in marriage by any means. He kidnaps her sister, Hanabi, to lure them to him.

The adventure to get back Hanabi as it turns out, is a kind of love life therapy session / hook up / little date between Hinata and Naruto to make up all the lost chances they had in the manga.

Naruto---after a single sideways glance at her in the sun and a long walk ... with her filled with touches and not much else---magically falls in love with her. It is half-way through the movie and it already feels like an expensive filler, where you could have replaced Hinata with any other princess with a sister and have the same effect. Literally nothing makes good sense in this film, from how they fell in love to them ending up in the middle of space.

All of this is sort of canon(?) however, so not even the beautiful animations could cover up how much the writers have sullied the characters growth and integrity from this ordeal.

Yet it begs the question: what exactly is the point of this movie?

But like Neji's death, it has no point. Just another quick fix for two completely incompatible characters to be awkwardly forced together at the expense of others, including themselves.

By the end as the credits rolled, it somehow felt awfully wrong instead of the good bittersweetness that you'd usually get with a true ending. Like they had all deserved better than this.

This movie, (along with the war-arc, that's another monstrous debate) completely turn the franchise into a weird soap opera, and sullied numerous characters all to justify nonsensical pairings among other issues. Overall a huge disappointment, considering this is the "finale", the very last of the Naruto franchise while they're still young and figuring out themselves.

The only pro I could think of was the animation, and Jiraiya's narration at the beginning.

Simply, it reeks of fan-service, point blank. What a shame.

To watch this movie you really should have seen all of the naruto shippuden series. This movie is a bit more sappy than what were used to with shippuden. But that`s not a bad thing, I thought they actually did quite well with everything. What this movie brings alot of is the FEELS.

Story:
The overall story to this wasn`t bad, but like almost all of the naruto movies it has that filler feel to it. The whole villain and conflict part of this is alright, but it really doesnt matter. the biggest reason why this was so good was because you get to see ... all of your favorite characters 2 years after the war and it`s quite interrtesting to see.

Animation and sound:
If you watch this episode in HD it looks really beautiful. It`s a step up from the series. The sound was good, nothing great but nothing bad. Of course it has the same great voice actors though.

Characters:
This movie has the same characters from the series so it`s pretty cool to see everyone and how they progressed after the war ended.

Overall:
I recommend you watch this if you enjoyed the naruto series. It is a bit slow and sappy but it really brings out the feels.

Wow, after waiting for MONTHS since the reveal of the movie back in October so for a very long time to see this movie.

This movie was absolutely amazing, it really makes up for the last few years of Naruto within the war (the ending + Naruto/Sasuke fight was great though). This movie has an amazing mixture of story, romance, action, comedy and development. This movie does such a good job in tying all the loose ends within the story and is a great buffer and conclusion to the story being the offical 699.5 chapter.

Kishimoto himself says he doesn't feel comfortable writing ... romance and that doesn't feel too good at it, well this movie was great and he did a great job with this one finalizing the very popular NaruHina ship that many fans have wanted for years.

The action while the last fight which was amazing was really just good, the action wasn't really the main focus of the movie. I did enjoy the action, the art and animation was on point throughout the movie, really great.

To be honest this movie and the ending were amazing, I couldn't have asked for a better and more satisfying way to conclude the movie and the series as a whole. I just found it so surreal as a guy who grew up with Naruto to see him grow up and be more mature and come to realizations like when he did when he realized that Hinata was an amazing girl, just that was just so great for me to see. Just as a long time Naruto fan who doesn't always enjoy just fighting and who wants to see a good story, this was a great story.

Very enjoyable movie, I see myself rewatching this many times. One of the best Naruto related things Kishimoto has done in YEARS in my opinion. Absolutely amazing! 10/10.

Naruto is my favorite anime. I have been watching it for years but I have to admit I really didn't like the movie. From the trailers I though that the movie would be okay but...

I am not really a huge Naruhina fan. I just like that pair a little. The main reason why I didn't like the movie was because it had Naruhina and nothing more. I wasn't waiting for this from Kishimoto. There were no any other pair. The movie was focused only on Naruto and Hinata. I like romance animes but Naruto is not ... a romance anime that's why I was surprised. I wanted to see relationship between Sakura and Sasuke and others too. I wanted to see how Kakashi became hokage and more other stuff. Somehow this movie was a disappointment for me. But it didn't really changed my opinion about main Naruto series. It will still be my favorite anime.

I don't think the NaruSaku fans will like that but the movie in term of animation and story is more than ok. It's mostly romance meaning that some of them are going to like it but some of them are going to find it annoying, it didn't bother me but it was downplaying the main story (the enemy's plan and so on) it's like the enemy's background and so on are nothing more than a side story. it's becoming more entertaining at the end tho (even if they've to rush a bit the whole thing).

For those who wanted to see Sasuke or Kakashi you'll ... be really disappointed because it's just about Naruto and Hinata. Hinata wasn't a good character to begin with and in that story she is not as shy as before but in term of character developpement it was meh...she is a cliché character since the beginning of the series, also Sakura saying that Naruto loved her just because he was sad to see her crying/talking about Sasuke all the time...it doesn't...make...any...sense...Naruto loved Sakura from day one, making these false explanations was just a way to justify the love story between Naruto and Hinata but it doesn't make sense since Sakura also loved Naruto but Kishi forgot about that. The fact that they had to contradict elements from the original plot for this love story to work is quite telling.

The funniest scene was when Naruto saw some memories at one moment and was like "Oh my god Hinata loves me! What should I do? I should definitely love her back!!!" ...No, it's not solid nor credible. NaruHina doesn't make sense as a couple because Naruto's interest for her in the manga is non-existent and it can't be developed in a single movie just like that. There is always a battle in the Naruto forum between the NaruSaku or NaruHina and it's a persistent battle and frankly...I don't know why because both don't make any sense...The NaruSaku just seize exist at one point and is just left out, Sakura's feelings were changing and she was going to love Naruto but her developement was stopped, same goes for Naruto's feelings towards her. When it comes to a possible NaruHina Hinata shared her feelings but was ignored like always. In the movie Naruto remembered the time when Hinata said she was in love with him and he thought she meant "love" like "loving ramen" or something...Just no. It's like they're hoping that we forgot some elements of the story to make NaruHina work.

Naruto characters being able to breath on the moon can make sense but there is a lack of explanation here, I know that the animators are free to do what they want but Naruto is using weird technics at the end but never mind. Even if it's a bit long it's enjoyable but you can feel that they're struggling real hard to make things work with a bad pair...a really bad one.

This movie is probably the most hyped up movie out of all the Naruto movies there is and I would say that this movie is one of the most disappointing ones.

Story: (4/10)

The story of The Last: Naruto the Movie (brilliant name) begins with a flashback of Hinata getting bullied by a couple of kids and Naruto comes in to try and stop them but he gets beat up by them and they rip up his scarf. It then skips into 2 years after the fourth shinobi war and Hinata's sister is kidnapped by some mysterious people and now Naruto, ... Hinata, Sakura, Sai, and Shikamaru must go and save Hinabi. I think that the romance between Naruto and Hinata was really forced into the movie so that Naruto could fall in love with Hinata because in the beginning of the movie Naruto wasn't interested at all in Hinata. One scene that really showed this was the scene when Naruto and his group jump into a weird bubble that has a genjutsu on it that causes people to see memories which doesn't make any sense for the villain to put on because it causes no harm to the characters and through Hinata's knitted scarf Naruto and Hinata are able to somehow go through each others memories. After Naruto sees all of Hinata's memories he suddenly realizes that she is in love with him and he starts to fall in love with her and this is all showed in a jumbled up mess of scenes showing the times where Hinata was subtly and non-subtly showing her feelings to Naruto. I really don't get why Naruto is able to see these specific memories of Hinata instead of her other ones. I also found the first half of the movie annoying because it was pretty much about Hinata debating if she is or not going to give Naruto her knitted scarf. I found all the action scenes in this movie to be very over the top to the point were I thought that I was watching Dragon Ball Z with the absurd amount of power being shown. Examples of this is when Naruto's chakra is taken out of him and made into a ball and it falls to the ground and causes a gigantic explosion that goes the moon and causes a big crater in the ground, the moon gets cut in half during the final battle, and Sasuke cuts a giant meteor into pieces. There is pretty much no more boundaries in how much power the characters could have now.

Art and Animation: (7/10)

The art in this movie was good and it really showed during the action scenes and there are some interesting visuals during the final scenes of the movie and credit scene. The animation was equally as good as the art in quality with everything feeling alive.

Sound: (4/10)

I thought they would go all out on the soundtrack of this movie but disappointingly they didn't and it just ended up being forgettable like the soundtracks from all the other Naruto movies before it. The voice actors all did a good job voice acting even though some of the characters in the movie had one line to say.

Characters: (4/10)

There were a lot of unnecessary characters added into the story because of how little they did to help and were only added into the story so that people could see how the characters would look like in a 2 year time skip but the problem is that all the characters still look the same with Naruto being the only one changing because it looks like he is balding now. Hanabi is rarely in the movie even though the whole point in the beginning is to go save her and the characters going to go save her don't really look like they are going under any stress about it especially Hinata. I felt that the main antagonist was underdeveloped and just kind of came out of nowhere in the story.

Enjoyment: (4/10)

Interesting visuals, good animation, cool but absurd fight scenes, and there was this one scene when the moon suddenly crashes into the school during the genjutsu scene and I though it was hilarious.

Overall: (4/10)

The Last: Naruto the Movie is a movie that I'm sure the fans of Naruto will love but I just think that it is a mess of a movie.

People who hate on this movie because "they wanted a more epic final movie" or "they preferred a different partner for Naruto" are so cringe. If you go in with nothing more than understanding that this movie's purpose is to build the relationship between Naruto and Hinata, then you will realize how much good the movie actually does. Sure, the action and villain in this aren't the best, but the plot canon-wise does make sense and is plausible. Kurama is great as always, and the movie is best at adding extra character development to the main characters (Hinata and Naruto) as well ... as to the side character in a way that might go unnoticed (Sakura, the Five Kage, and kinda Sasuke).

The movie is decent, pretty good in terms of shonen anime movies.

Well, as everyone already know, this movie is supposed to be a sequel to the Naruto manga series that takes place after chapter 699 and before the prologue on chapter 700.
The movie tells the romantic story between Naruto and Hinata, on how Naruto finally realises how he trully feels about her. Took him long enough... he should have realised already since the end of the ... battle against Pain, I say.
Of course, even being a film about romance, we can't have a Naruto film without our tipical dose of action, and that's exactly wath the movie gives us near the end, an outstanding battle with huge scales in power levels.
Well, as good as Kishimoto may be on writing action stories, unfortunatly he's not really that good at writing romance, Naruto's change in feeling seemed a bit forced and sometimes I felt he was even out of character. Even Hinata felt really weird sometimes because she could easly avoid some problems in the movie, that for the sake of plot she didn't even react, waiting for Naruto to save her.
Then there's also the scarf... it was nice at the beginning, but it become a bit annoying later.
Action scenes out, the story was lackluster. I must say it was the worst aspect of the movie.

Art (9)
In therms of art and animation, the movies always have better quality than the anime series. It was fluid, and I really liked the colors they used sometimes. I really don't have complaints about this aspect however there is always room for improvement and for that I'm looking forward to the next movie.

Sound (8)
Typical soundtracks and voice acting we always ear on the Naruto anime series. Some soundtracks were forgetful yes, but I also noticed some really old and nostalgic ones, like "The Last" or "Naruto's main theme" and there was also some new awesome ones like "Crescent Moon". Hoshi no Utsuwa by Sukima Switch was also really enjoyable to ear by the end. Try to search some of these songs on the net, you may like it.

Of course we already know the main characters very well before we even think about watching this movie, but as I said in the "story" section, Naruto and Hinata sometimes felt weird and out of character. The main vilain, is not bad but is not very likable either since his objective is a bit cliche and he also have a very naive personality. I can just guess his main purpose was just to give Naruto a good climax fight and serve as a barrier between Naruto and Hinata that must be broken.

I went into this movie mostly thinking of it as a romance movie than an action one, but it was enjoyable. Kishimoto is just not that good with romance stories, but I liked it anyway cause it was something I wanted to see long ago, even if it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

I just recommend the movie to everyone who likes Naruto and completed the manga. Well, if you are an anime only and if you are just too curious, go ahead anyway. It's not that big of a problem.
If you don't like the series of course you won't like this either.
Don't go watch it with your expectation too high. Just sit back, get your popcorns(you better like popcorns!) and enjoy it normally. Have fun

for me Naruto the last is an excellent movie there is action emotion the animation is stunning, it has everything going for it.

-the antagonist is really develloped in just one movie i can attach to him

-the animation was damn good even tho it's not the best animation of all time it's still better than most animes.

-the story of this movie is gripping, we descover how hinata and Naruto maried each other. We lear a lot of things about Homura too.

-the sound is the only weak point of the movie for me.
