Shaman King is an anime that has not aged well, for multiple reasons, with some of them the series itself being to blame, and with some of them time itself is to blame.

To properly criticize Shaman King, I want you to understand that Shaman King came out from an era where shounens were the determined bread winner, and there were plenty of attempts of random shounen being released. At the same time, things like Naruto, Inuyasha, Hajime no Ippo and Hunter x Hunter were airing or finished airing and plenty of other commercial shounens were being released or about to start in that craze. I ...

Don't get me wrong, Shaman King was really the first anime/manga combo I fell in love with. I just wish it wasn't so painful to watch. Just to be clear, I watched the first half of the series in English, the second half in Japanese.

Story: 8/10
Wow is really the only thing to say about Shaman King's story. Throughout the entire series, I was constantly engaged with the twisting plot. What really struck me about the story was the way they never sacrificed the plot for side-quests of character development; they implemented it right into the plot. The only bad news for the story is that ...

-Characters are enjoyable
[although somewhat bland and underdeveloped]
-A good villain
-Has a decent storyline

Cons:

I think this anime has completely ruined the concept of anime and the enjoyment of anime tbh. After watching this, I'll never watch an anime based off a manga again, bar a select few. If you are interested in this series, then do yourself a solid and read the manga. The anime will give you a false idea of the events that go on in the show when the gang begin their journey to Murica.

Anyway though,

Story:

The story is pretty decent. I didn't dislike it, although I'd say my main problem with the anime is that there is too much story and it sometimes overlaps how ...

This absolutely brings back the memories as this series is one of the earliest animes that I’ve seen when I was younger in the television dubbed with our language. I was still naïve then with the anime world and would just enjoy animes with the television and be contented with it without even knowing if they will continue airing it until the end.

There’s a long review coming…………

About the STORY
I just love series that has most of the important elements in it. There’s comedy, drama, supernatural, fantasy, adventure, a little bit romance, and of course, tons of actions. Even for an old series, the action can ...
