For those who have seen the 6 series I"s Pure and or have read the Manga, this OVA departs dramatically from the story; leaving much wanting. It feels more like a saturday morning special than a representation of the I"s story.

The art quality is actually pretty good. As a stand alone way to spend an hour you may find some enjoyment in it.

What... the fuck?

That's all I could think as the story progressed. There was an event that got it started, and then as it closed... Let's just put it this way...

This OVA contains elements never present before in this series, and it strays from the idea of the series horribly.

As many have stated before, the art was very nice, though sometimes the character's looks kind of weird. Iori in particular.

On a side note, I almost felt like this was some sort of cross over. The supporting characters that were not apart of the main cast had this "I feel like I should know who these ... people are, like they are from another series" feel to them.

My last complaint, was that the big bad "coincidence" monster reared it's ugly head a surprising amount of times in a single, two episode story. Coincidences within coincidences... it was an enigma of coincidence monsters... Maybe the monster was pregnant.

Overall
I haven't read the manga, which I guess you are supposed to do if you are gonna get anything out of this OVA. In my book, this was a waste of an hour.

Animation
Pretty good looking, this OVA. Nicely drawn surroundings and water. The characters look dull, empty and stupid however.

Sound
No music at all. Mediocre voice acting. Nothing horrible, but far from good.

Story
The story is supposed to be cute with three friends meeting up to keep a promise they made ten years ago. The cuteness is easily overshadowed by total dumbness, however. The chances of all characters ending up at the same place at the same ... time without knowing the other ones were there feels slim to me, but yet it happens.

Irrational behaviour was another dumb thing... "yeah, I'm gonna leave my girl here on this island to row (yeah row) a kilometer or two to save a girl from being raped by gangstas and I probably will make it in time, besides my friends who have no idea of where I am will probably arrive to help. Oh hey, it worked!"

There are lots of other dumb things in this OVA, and I wont mention them all. Except for the rain. That alley is several kilometers wide, yet the water level rises like ten metres in half an hour tops.

Character
There were quite a lot of characters to keep track of during this short time, and I for one mixed them up all the time. Partly because they looked pretty similar, sounded pretty similar and had the same amount of personality (that is, zero). They were all about the same IQ, too (which should be somewhere around the same value as the personality).

Value
Worthless. If you know the characters from the manga, you might wanna see this, but stay away if you are a I''S n00b.

As someone who read the entire series, I wasn't very impressed with this OVA. There were characters that I had never seen before that weren't in the manga (I think) and a plot that isn't in the manga either. It went from 0 to 100 really quick.

It was interesting, but at the same time I hated it. I hated the voice they gave most of the characters. I hated the faces they made. I hated how confused I was half the time. I only enjoyed watching it for how absolutely absurd it was.

The writing was awful. I'm practically convinced whoever wrote this hasn't ... actually read the manga. The characters that I loved? Completely bland and dead on arrival.

Here's hoping the next OVAs are better, I'm a fan of the original work. Fingers crossed!

No. Don't watch this.

I have the whole manga, which I absolutely adore - It's one of my favourite romance stories ever. This OVA, on the other hand, they 100% pulled out of their asses. If fits absolutely nowhere and feels like a fever dream from beginning to end.

This is the first time I'm reviewing anything on MAL, but I just can't help myself - it was THAT bad. Rating something I"s related a 1 breaks my heart, but it's exactly what it deserves.

Watch I"s Pure if you're after an adaptation of the manga. It's short, they cut pretty much all of the comedy and ... left just the romance and drama, and the overall tone is overly dramatic - but at least it tells the story *mostly* accurately. Izumi got an axe to the head in the adaptation though, which sucks.
