This anime is just a small collections of moving images from the manga really. Thus it is only any fun at all if you\'ve read the manga and loved it.
There is no story to it, though there does seem to be a point to it (it certainly brought something to my attention).
The animation looks good, I liked it.
Since it doesn\'t show any more then just a few scenes, there\'s no story of itself whatsoever, character development is non existent and none of it will make any sense to you at all if you haven\'t thoroughly read the manga and remember every single detail. The manga

I never rated anything a one out of ten… until I encountered Blame.
Perhaps it was because I am a man of the pencil and paper, and I tend to become extremely irritated when others criticize my work. As a result, I don’t particularly enjoy ripping someone else’s culmination of effort to shreds. Instead, I always appreciate the thing or things a crappy series pulls off successfully, even if they are ultimately insignificant, and I make sure to feature them in my review. Perhaps I chose not to hand out ones because of my opinion that anyone who habitually gives low scores to the things they ... May 23, 2008
This title makes better sense if you have previously read the manga. The OVA jumps back and forth along the manga plot illustrating the key moments of Nihei's (Author of manga) scenic perspective of a chaotic world, so it is very hard for a newcomer to even try to decypher the storyline.
- ANIMATION - The animation itself is clean and fluid, however many scenes are mere transitional still background frames showing in colour the world of BLAME! but those with movement truely show Nihei's disturbing imagination. Yet the series' production team was not entirely faithful to his drawing style so the characters are not identical to their ... Aug 9, 2017
Blame is an interesting case in the anime world. While the original source – the manga is both known and respected as a cult classic by many, it has been seemingly plagued with a handful of weird anime adaptations that don’t even try to be faithful to the manga, including the recent ‘Netflix original’ film of the same name. Because of this, the entire franchise is basically a fucking mess, and has been a complete disaster when attempted to be adapted to anime so far, with not one single adaptation being able to replicate the visual spectacle and atmosphere that made the manga so famous.

This is actually very deep and profound anime that is a complex metaphor or allegory to a world we live in.
Unfortunately few would be able to understand the idea of this show. However I think that is not what creators indented. Then wanted to send a message to select few who could get it. Now I finally got their message as well. I guess I can almost quote the main character. I am looking for humans with Net Terminal Gene, that is a metaphor as well. Well I guess I want to find people who can understand this stuff as much as I do and talk online. It would ... May 7, 2014
Usually, I love science fiction. Science fiction something I look forward too during my life. I love the interesting what if scenarios. This is mostly why Blame was on my radar. I should have known better. There really is no excuse, but I have to blame someone for this.
I blame Group TAC for making this horrible disaster. I blame Shintaro Inokawa for his ability to move manga images around the screen. Sometimes he will move them up, down, left or even right. I also blame him for doing a 180 rotating trick with the camera, that didn't serve any purpose in the story. I blame ... Dec 29, 2008
This is a very short anime that works as brownie for those who liked the manga of Blame!
However, even though I did not read the manga, I found this a really nice anime. The story is, basically, non-existant. For those not familiar with the overall plot this will be a surreal experience, since there is not any hint or information. If you ignore this fact, though, and focus moment by moment you will be able to appreciate a very faint shadow of the original story concept. The same applies to the characters. The art and animation are both original and very good. The sequences are very ... Sep 23, 2010
Blame! Or rather "Lame!"
Don't waste your time and hop on to the next Anime. Okay story like... ZERO Where in some sort of cyber space and weird crappy stuff happends out of nowhere... I seriosly believe that this is the worsed Matrix attempt ever. (Animatrix is great by the way, better than the real movie.) Anyway, I've read the other revieuws here and I completely disagree with every positive thing what there saying about Lame! cough cough Blame! Jul 20, 2008
Wow so this should be quick
Story/Character: as stated in the summary this is only intended as a bonus for the manga!!! it has NO story Or character Development!!! so if you expect to understand it without reading the manga you will be disappointed. However I did not read the manga, so i didn't expect much from that aspect so lets get into what i really did want from this anime! ART: This is one of my favorite anime from an art perspective. ... A warning: this is just a series of scenes that will only make sense to people who have read the manga, because the animation has no unifying story thread or exposition. What this little series of videos does well is capture the dark, unearthly atmosphere that is crucial to Blame! being what it is. The music and sound design is easily the best part; it's very Industrial, very bleak, very atmospheric, and the tracks for the endless, empty megastructure are as good as those for the sequences of action. The animation is extremely limited, but the art style is right and it serves well enough

read the manga. no really the manga is so much better.
i would go that far and say that watching the anime without having read the manga is a sin. i didn't like it because in every scene i was thinking that was better in the manga and i couldn't finish watching the 4th episode because it was far to painful. and also the i hate the music choice. Of course music taste is not something that should be judged, but I really don't like the music. if you don't like reading, then fear not. Blame uses very few words so you don't have to read much. I ... Oct 3, 2020
It is strange to see people rating this 1, since this is just some addition to the great manga series.
And yet, regardless of near-perfect art-style and sound design perfectly suited for something like Blame, they seem to completely misunderstand what they were watching. Honestly, if they made whole adaptation in this style and with this sound design, that would be probably as close to original as it gets. Ofc. the action scenes and characters would take ALOT of work, but it seems they could've done it. Anyway, we have what we have. I put 9/10 and 10/10 for art and sound respectively. Rest is kinda irrelevant since ... Aug 6, 2024
This small adaptation of BLAME! felt more like a proof of concept piece. As the majority of it is incomplete in its visuals. No cinematography present besides jerking of the camera or still shots. Voice acting was whatever because again, proof of concept. Random moments from the manga are taken and this cannot in any way stand on its own unless you have read the manga. Not fun to watch, and I wouldn't recommend to watch this even if you love BLAME! due to it lacking any substance at all. While it is cool to see some movement here and there, that does not excuse

I've never heard of this anime before, so I thought I'd watch all six episodes and I'm not really sure what to say about it. There is some action in this anime, but it was kind of hard to figure out what was happening and the two characters are in some world with a lot of levels to it or something? Anyways, there's no story to this anime or at least from the six videos that I watched on it there wasn't a story in any of the videos. The sound was good, the characters were ok, then again not much was said in the

Short review: (minor spoilers for the manga ending)
As "promotional anime shorts" for the original manga of Blame!, it's a mixed bag. Don't expect too much from these shorts. 6/10. Pros: +Faithful to the original manga in all its aesthetics, style and narrative coldness. +Certain materials here are intriguing (e.g. EP3) Cons: - Barely comprehensible even for someone who has read but not familiar with the manga. It's more likely to confuse potential readers and intrigue them. ... |
