This anime had THE GREATEST POTENTIAL of all to become something better than "yet another steaming pile of crap that's stuck in the otaku loop."

It had the useful, athletic, and otherwise awesome male protagonist (voice my a Mr. "Bust Out In A Fit Of Laughter, That's Right. I'm Kira"). It had the team behind the Nanoha series. It had COLORS all up in dey art and animation. And it had some "stealth panty shots."

But then... As if the "LeBron James Hate Plague" spread from Cleveland (or its basketball team) and managed to revitalize the otaku-base's hatred against those better than themselves... It pulls Dog Days ...

Welcome to Flonyald! The land of the furries, and cities that are named after desserts! As a bored teenager looking for entertainment anywhere, I browsed through possible animes and found this, and looked at the art, then the tags, finding "shounen", questioning everything I thought that was in a shounen anime in the first place. This review is about Dog Days, and anime that I found to be...interesting.

Story (7/10): With the story being about a boy getting sent to a magical land of the furries where the main source of capital and entertainment came from wars, I was pleasantly surprised, ...

I love this anime, and I might even classify it as my favorite anime as of the time I'm writing this. So why would I give a show I love a 7? Simple, as much as I love this show and as many times as I've re-watched it, I'll be the first to admit that it's objectively flawed, and for the sake of actual criticism, I can't just ignore those faults.

Let's begin with the most common complaint I've heard about this show, the huge missed opportunity with the "Warfare Economy" that is explained in episode 3. They never actually explore this idea which makes a ...

Preliminary (9/13 eps)
Let’s see…. This series was SO boring for at least the first half, and slightly less boring for the second half, or maybe I got accustomed to the boring-ness. I spent more time identifying the voice actors than actually paying attention to the series. Also, what’s up with the girls’ clothes just coming off…?
Surprisingly there are many well-known voice actors participating in the series, with very distinctive voices. Probably my favorite part about the series, if I had one.
Also, the last episode was probably the best one out of all of them. I think.

Story: Uh… interesting premise and ideas. 13-year-old who loves athletics gets sent ...

Let me start by saying that I just watched all three seasons of this back-to-back and that, going in, I had no idea what it was about (except that it had animal-ear girls).

The story starts off in a typical "isekai" flair--the main character Shinku (or something phonetically similar, depending on your translation) is summoned to another world to fight in a war as a Hero. Shinku is an incredible athlete in that he placed second in a Ninja Warrior-esque competition behind his mentor/rival; both of them happen to be in Middle School, by the way. After getting a quick explanation of what is happening, he ...
