As for films, what are your thoughts on Dune 2? And more importantly, can any other film this year even come close to matching it?
My love for Oregairu changed. The love doesn't stem from my past where I heavily gravitated toward Hachiman and Yukino as mere projections of myself. More so, it's a retrospection after a long-awaited revisit of the series. Knowing the story and its messages front and back gave me a new perspective on what Wataru was trying to express. I see bits and pieces of my past self in these characters and although it's exaggerated to an enormous degree, those aspects were still true. It's the self-retrospection that I got from experiencing this amazing story through both the anime and light novels that I was able to see the point at the end of the journey.
Although it's cringe to say, Oregairu was a story that impacted me early on in my years and it's a story that I grew up with as I see how the characters morphed and changed just like I did. While I do admit its shortcomings, it still doesn't deteriorate the such profound experiences and emotions that this series exhibited.
I was and always will love Oregairu.
