Vinland Saga

Can't believe I didn't make this recommendation already. Eren and Thorfinn are so similar it's not even funny. Both series tackle some of the same concepts, especially Freedom in a Cruel World. Plus it's WIT Studio. 

Both MCs struggled with a cruel childhood leading to losing their parents. Also, MCs are very well written and give similar vibes. 

-Both main characters are infected with the burning desire for revenge -Both have have similar worlds from a technological standpoint -Both have a few main characters but manage to make the side characters feel just as important and relevant 

We follow a naïve but motivated protagonist that learns and changes as the series goes on in an unforgiving world. 

As other recommendations have said, these shows were made by the same studio and have too many similar qualities to count. I can almost guarantee that if you like one of these series, you will the other. Similarities include: - a revenge-motivated protagonist with unique natural ability for combat - similar protagonists as a whole. honestly - blurred moral lines - violence - similar art and combat scenes - unique setting. Vinland Saga is a rare historical anime surrounding what best is summarized as the Viking age, while Attack on Titan appears to be in a foreign alternative universe that shares some similarities to medieval England. 

Blood, blades and vengeance. A young boy lives a peaceful life, dreaming of adventure and glory. It finds him, ripping his world apart with visceral cruelty. Left with nothing but his hatred, he takes up a sword and vows to carve a path through the world that wronged him. 

-darker stories and worlds -same studio (Wit Studio) -both are somewhat grounded in history (German architecture and Nordic Vikings and combat) -have likable side characters -protagonists who want revenge 

While not sharing a similar plot or setting, both Vinland Saga and Shingeki no Kyojin are Wit Studios' magnum opuses; two action anime with gore elements, a deep history, beautiful visuals, a wide cast of characters, great character development and a great soundtrack. Both anime also share many VAs and stylistic similarities in general. 

Both of the series are similar because their genre is War and chaos. 

-They both have a young male protagonist who wants to avenge his dead parent -Both Eren (AOT protagonist) and Thorfinn (VS protagonist) do have anger issues -Also, you watch both of them growing up in the show and they both have amazing character development -They both realize that revenge is pointless -Both have to do with "slavery" -Both have lots of blood, cool fights, death, op characters and wars -Lastly, they will both give you depression

Vinland Saga (in addition to Owari no Seraph which has many recommendations that you should check out) is made by Wit Studio. - wit studio tends to animate lots of manga/lightnovels that have similar genres. -art style similar The protagonists of VS and SnK are both soooo annoying. -They each have something they want to kill: Eren=titans, cause they killed his mom Thorfinn= askella, because he (his followers) killed his dad. -Askellad and Levi are very similar. Cold asf, don't mind killing everything in their path, dark pasts, etc. -lots of killing 

They both have a similar setting and events similar to our real world. They both have amazing character writings especially for the main character.  

Perfectly matches each other for revenge. In Attack on titan, Eren Jaeger seeks revenge for his mothers death and the destruction of his home town done by the human eating giants known as "Titans" He sweared to kill every single Titan to bring the freedom of all the people inside the huge walls they used to live in for protecting themselves from Titans. Again, in Vinland Saga Thorfinn seeks revenge for his fathers death by killing Askellad,who killed him. In future both of them starts to know their own identities clearly and the past life of their people. 

These two anime series are actually from the same company! I feel like Vinland saga is underrated because of Shingeki. Don't get me wrong, Shingeki is amazing but I really liked Vinland as much as I did for Shingeki. They are both action animes with Vinland Saga being a historical anime about vikings. Both have very deep messages and.. oh gosh.. a lot of killing. Anyways, plz watch Vinland! (also, can't wait for season 2!)

A wonderful combination of good story line with outstanding action. It tells the journey of young boy who is thrown into difficult circumstances due to war. The best thing is the anime is loosely based on history. It is a highly underrated anime if you like dark action genre. If you've watch Attack On Titans , you simply cannot miss this.  

Both take place in medieval times. It has an amazing history, epic fights, incredible soundtrack, and they are also animated by the same studio. 

As popular as it is, Vinland Saga is still yet another underrated masterpiece. As far as the first season, Vinland Saga has had a beautifully accurate anime adaptation, leaving the viewer awestruck, dumbfounded, and at a loss of mere words all at the end of almost every episode. If you enjoy war, plot, foreshadowing, confusion, betrayal, and the creation of a potentially 'false' fantasy dreamland, Vinland Saga is a must watch. 

Both follow enraged protagonists who experience violence & chaos before undergoing major changes to their character. Both stories also have underlying anti-violence messages.

The main characters share some similarities. - They experience something traumatic that fuels their goals - They're both quite headstrong and driven - Both can appear annoyingly reckless at times They have the same animation studio as well, so if you like the artstyle you should definitely check out the other one. 

If you like the bloody complex and grounded politics and action of Attack On Titan, you will most likely love Vindland Saga

The same studio that animated snk, the main character is so cold and has a monstrous development throughout the anime. The protagonist is also an unparalleled genius, always one step ahead of the others 

- First of all, they both are Seinen anime series. - They are both animated by WIT Studio, in my opinion, this studio animated pretty well as it portrayed Vinland Saga and Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin, to be ancient themed. Modern technologies were not invented in their timelines, therefore they had to use full strength to fight against someone, not rely on robots or high tech meccha stuff or MHA superpowers. - Character development, Attack on titan has one of the best character developments, as well as Vinland Saga, if you really enjoy watching a character's growth that rises rapidly, then Vinland Saga/AOT is yours to enjoy for sure! - Both of these shows have really well written characters, you really ought to check them out. - It probably isn't the genre but i would consider these two anime to be reverse psychological, I really felt the hatred of the characters and their tenacity of seeking revenge upon a certain enemy. read more 

war, military and story writing and character design share similarities

For you revenge loving ppl but s2 of Vinland is very different 

Generational works of fine art which are complex yet simple, gruesome yet wholesome, dreadful.. and yet hopeful. The main goal of said shows is not to show you character X fighting character Y with some mixed spices, like what most shonens do, especially nowadays, but rather to enlighten you with a tale that's ribbed by many thought-provoking philosophical questions, and moral teachings. (Contains spoilers from here on) Eren is quite the opposite of Thorfinn, but they share the same end goal; to have a world that treats them like actual human beings, devoid of oppression, torture, killing. Terminologically, utopia. However, as it appears Eren is far from being faithful to that road, which is something to be presumed, given those who form their goals through their own unrealistic desires would likely end up in the abyss of their delusion. Hence, he ultimately ended up getting consumed by his own values and got dragged into the world of evil. He is morally corrupt and does his best to protect his people, even if it means wiping off the globe. That is the philosophy of his character, as opposed to our beloved Thorfinn. Realistically, utopia is a semi-impossible thing to achieve. Hence, one failed to achieve that; or rather, was destined to fail. This is the end message of AoT. Utopia is impossible. War wages from the tiniest of conflicts, and one war leads to another war. Every war ultimately results in deaths of thousands, if not millions of innocents. Hence hatred and grudges are generated, which will span for generations to come, leading to many other wars and many innocent lives being forcibly taken. One tiny conflict could create all of that. The other one is still trying to create that pacifist everlasting peaceful land, and we are yet to know if he has succeeded in that. That's why we got to follow his journey. Eren was born pure, became a monster. Thorfinn was born a monster, became pure. read more 

In an action-packed violent anime made by the same studio as the first 3 seasons of aot, Vinland saga has brilliant story, incredible animation, and a soundtrack fitting of a great show. With revenge, tons of deaths, etc. this is a great anime. The next season being animated by the studio that animated the fourth season of aot, it is sure to be brutal and great. 

Both are darker animes that focus on a group of people fighting for their survival. In Vinland Saga, it is against other Viking clans, and in Shingeki no Kyojin, it is against the Titans. There is also some sort of betrayal/mystery element in both plots as well. The art style for Vinland Saga, however, makes things appear brighter than they actually are while still having that dark undertone, which gives off a different feel compared to Shingeki no Kyojin's art style where everything appears dreary. 

-Action-packed -Gory -Amazing storyline -Classics/masterpieces -Killer opening sequences -Times where you want to yell at the main characters -Makes you think about some deeper stuff than you would expect going into it -You would not want to live in the world/anime, because you would not survive, haha. 

Both shows have similar and amazing graphics.. both are super intense and bloody..  

Vinland Saga and Berserk both take place during similar time periods. They both have gritty settings and both stories remain quite psychological. They're both layered shows with good character development that has real depth. 

The action scenes in both anime are very similar although Berserk would be considered a dark fantasy and Vinland Saga is considered Historical Fiction. They have very similar themes with both of the main protagonists being from destitute backgrounds.  

Gritty, action packed, medieval anime about a young, battle hardened main character seeking revenge. 

Just like Berserker, Vinland Saga has a cute long-haired twink who gets ruined because of his own ambitions. There also is a plot about revenge in both shows or something lile that but I don't really care about that and neither should you.  

Both Berserk's Golden Age arc and Vinland primarily deal with medieval warfare, strategy, and politics. Both series have mostly gray character designs, but not for all characters. E.g. Thorkell in Vinland and Adon Coborlwitz in Berserk are stereotypical shounen characters. Vinland's Thorfinn is borderline between angry shounen edgelord and seinen gray, more so then Bererk's Guts. Vinland lacks the romance and supernatural aspects Berserk has, and puts more emphasis on the political dimension instead. The coverage of military action is similar. 

both are very dark and are placed in the middle ages 

Both have strong philosophies about war, success, life and death. Set in medieval era in Europe. Include strong charismatic characters and amazing stories. 

Strong and likable characters paired up alongside a super badass revenge plot as well as a middle age setting world. They also excel when it comes to antagonist writing and character dynamics can be viewed as somewhat similar in both series 

They both involve swordfighting and end with a cliffhanger that changes both mcs lives. Berserk's ending especially tells you to "Just go read the manga b****es!" 

In essence, Berserk (1997) is very similar to Vinland Saga. Both are historical war dramas and the stories have comparable progression. The main characters - Guts and Thorfinn, respectively - are fueled by a desire for revenge, though this theme manifests a lot earlier in Vinland Saga. Gore, mature dialogues, dark twists and a heavy atmosphere are central to both anime. The most noticeable difference is the setting. Berserk (1997) has a medieval environment, whereas Vinland Saga takes place in the Viking era.  

This is the story of two rivals, one of them our main protagonist a blockhead, hopeless, filled with grief, and strong dude that encounters a smart, loyal and stronger dude, and our main protagonist is obligated to join the others dude team, both of this dudes have a really tense relantionship between one and other because of the circunstances of the story 

Both series deal with the life of a young teenager in a dark, medieval English territory. Both are not afraid to push the boundaries of subject matter, including blood, gore, and violence, and yet both are incredibly beautiful, harsh, and telling when they need to be. Both go hand-in-hand, and you should watch one if you haven't seen the other. 

Both are stories of revenge, tragedy, and facing oneself. The greatest similarity though, is it takes a person who was completely innocent and undeserving of the horrors they are subjected to, and through their trauma turns them into unrecognizable monsters too blind and obsessed to come to terms with their past or look to the future. Or even appreciate what they have. The main character's corruption spreads through and around them like a cancer until it consumes them until they have to face the consequences. 

It's like Dororo but better.  

Revenge. A prolonged burning desire for revenge that lurks within causes those to continuously grow and strengthen into the people that have the power to take back what was stolen from them. Dororo and Vinland Saga are the same in this respect. Dororo follows innocent child Hyakkimaru falling victim to an exchange his father had with demons in order to make his land grow. Vinland Saga follows an energetic child Thorfinn having his father die. From the broken youth that they started at, the two grow into ambitious and angry warriors to obtain what had been taken from them. Both are good anime filled with action everywhere, as well as being historical to the respective nations they were set in, Samurai and Vikings alike.  read more

If u want an anime were the m.c. is out to take revenge for the things that has been done to him in the past. Both of the series are a masterpiece and if u watch this anime u will end up rooting for the other characters in the anime . Both of them are very intersting and are made by big studios . The animation quality is also very great . I hope u enjoy this anime 

Others are better at explaining the reasons so just go ahead and read those but here are some bullets for a run down same: -revenge -kind of gruesome -overall likable characters -a main character who started off doing nothing wrong but then got hit in the face with hell -godly animation/fight scenes (in my opinion) -somewhat historical different: -Dororo has supernatural concepts -different stories -in one the father sucks and the other he is good -I cant think of anything else, sorry 

Both shows have a war scenario, both have a main character who is seeking for revenge, both show have action with emotional scenes, both shows have a real good soundtrack. So if you liked dororo you should check out vinland saga 

If you love blood and gore and fighting like samurais with weapons in forests to achieve revenge.. you'll LOVE both of them. The art for both Dororo and Vinland Saga are AMAZING and give the same vibe. If you lust for an anime like vinland saga, you'll love dororo  

both has 24eps and is good for binge watching , both mcs want revenge although dororo doesn't focus on that 

Both of these anime have strong values in terms of struggle, sacrifice, patience, perseverance, etc. The two main characters (Thorfinn & Hyakkimaru) are very agile in fighting demons or enemies. These two anime are not far from fighting or killing. The nature of the two may not be the same. The two figures both traveled long distances to various regions/countries to achieve their respective goals (not alone). These two anime also have really cool OP :D ... The point is that these two anime have very good adventure stories, have positive values for life, and are suitable entertainment. 

These two series' take place in separate settings, although, the style and atmosphere feels similar while juggling great character development with intriguing characters throughout the story. 

Both protagonists join a group of people who they're set on getting revenge. They make question what indeed is bad and what a good ''side''. Both give right away that they're historical and they don't refrain from using cold-blooded measures.

Both based on a guy set on revenge, while Vinland Saga tends to be more dramatic both animes have a similar core. Both protagonists are set on revenge and both animes don't shy away from their respective worlds' brutality, both don't have an obvious "good" or "bad" side. Again Vinland Saga is more dramatic and powerfull at the cost of bit of realism but both animes feel similar. 

Both series deal with loss and revenge. One is set in the Viking era the other is set in the 1900s.  

Bound by tragic events of the past, both of the protagonist's personalities are changed and twisted in the years as they grow up. It leads Angelo and Thorfinn to face their surroundings towards a ultimate goal by lies, betrayal, and a whole lot of bloodshed. Another similarity is of the focus on the side characters alongside the protagonist which allows the viewer to enjoy each show respectively no matter the difference between Vikings and Gangsters.  

Both of these shows are about revenge and what that can do to a person. Both shows have different ways they go about it 

In both animes revenge becomes an obsession for the main character  

Both protagonists witness their families' unjust deaths and seek revenge (or rather, to avenge) their loved ones. Avilio is around 10 years old, and Thorfinn is even younger, 6 years old. When their formative years are so deeply traumatizing, they are consumed with nothing except carrying out revenge (lack of socialization does not help). However, 91 days is more drawn out - a cinematic masterpiece filled with metaphors and literary imagery. It has a more complex script than Vinland Saga, given that it's about the mafia. Both are fantastic and I highly recommend watching. Depending on your mood, you may want to start with Vinland Saga first if you are interested in adventure, revenge elements, and a redemptive storyline (more interesting support characters). If you enjoy psychological mysteries, historic settings, and a sombre reflection on life for a rainy day - 91 days will definitely be more up your alley, physically and metaphorically! read more 

It is also about a little boy growing up to revenge his family, but both solve the problem different  

In both shows, the parent of the protagonists die by the hands of the villain, after which the main character goes to the villain as an apprentice in order to to become stronger and kill him. 

Villain kills MC's parent, MC becomes villain's pupil to get strong and later get revenge. MC becomes a killing machine. Plot points are nearly identical.  

SPOILER ALERT !! Did you also think that the plot of Vinland Saga was original? Well I don't think so. If you take a look at Chirin no Suzu you will realize what I say. It is basically the same plot. The mother of the protagonist Chirin is killed by the Wolf while protecting his life, like Thors, Thorfinn's father is killed by Askelad. Both protagonists will seek revenge, but instead they will grow as people and understand how cruel life is, and learn from those who once murdered their loved ones, giving a great lesson in the end. ¡¡ALERTA DE SPOILER!! Tú también creíste que la trama de Vinland Saga era original? Pues no lo creo. Si les das un vistazo a Chirin no Suzu te drás cuenta de lo que digo. Es básicamente la misma trama. La madre del protagonista Chirin es asesinada por el Lobo mientras le protegía la vida, al igual que Thors, el padre de Thorfinn es asesinado por Askelad. Ambos protagonistas buscarán la venganza, pero en cambio crecerán como personas y entenderán lo cruel que es la vida, y aprenderán de quienes una vez, asesinaron sus seres queridos, dando una gran lección al final.  read more 

-revenge -loss of a parent -mc getting close to the "antagonist" both are a great watch and a breathtaking experience  

Bizarrely it’s the same. In so many ways it’s the same concept and characters. Tackles the same dilemma of is there such thing as Virtuous Vengeance? If so, what does it cost?  

Both movies revolve around the innocent protagonist losing someone dear to them, who didnt deserve to die, and they fall to hated, vowing to avenge them, despite that not being what the person would have wanted. Chirin and Thorfinn join the murderer in hopes they can later kill them for revenge. Both works deal with violence, revenge, and characters' existence and identity.  

they both have the same adventure schtick: """ragtag group of interesting, fleshed out, dynamic characters go about a particular outlandish objective blocked by eccentric but equally as interesting antagonist/s in a relatively historical, realistic setting""". they become even more similar as vinland saga progresses, mind those who've only seen the anime. but, golden kamuy has more comedy. 

Both animes are based on true stories and talk about actual events, people and civilizations, they do not talk about the same time period and are not totally accurate, but they are more real than fantasy. With great art and animations in both animes alongside the amazing almost accurate stories, they are just fire. Although you might see some non-real events like fights in Vinland saga but it's understandable since it's a shonen anime. 

- Same vibe - good fighting - good animation - good plot  

If you liked Vinland Saga, the Golden Kamuy is something you definitely need to add to your watchlist. Both follow a similar premise of the main character having a goal - whether thats to avenge their father or go on a journey in honour of a friend - you're covered. Both have interesting and gripping stories. Both have plenty of good fight scenes, despite one being viking-based and the other being based after the ending of war. I personally really enjoyed both and am looking forward to the new seasons coming from both. 

The anime is about searching and there has a war. Vinland saga is searchung for a peaceful place. And golden kamuy is searching for golden by retrieving prisoner skin. Both is great adventure 

Most underrated anime ever. Also the best. I can't stress enough how much I recommend it. Its very much like Vinland Saga. Very mature, Seinen, perfectly paces and natural humor. Its the best of the Seinen world. 

They both have deep histories to them which I like about both of them 

Both are darker shows with great action and character development. They both have many characters that are morally grey and overpowered madmen too. All in all, these are both classics worth watching.

both are seinen, dark, and include war, politics, betrayals, sad emotions and grief. Also both have a heavy plot with no episode wasted on fillers, and a big plot twist(the plot twist will happen in vinland season 2 which is not out yet) 

Same Studio(even after changing studios they are same💀 ), Similar Art Style, Similar Violence. Definitely the anime you should go for if you have watched Attack on titan or vice versa. Both the main characters (Thorfinn and eren) go after thirst of revenge but their journey take different courses. Both are must watch. 

Do you love war? History? -They are both set in the historical period -Both have the same war element -Both MC are after for revenge -Both have strong and mature scenes If you love Vinland Saga, then Kingdom is for you, Kingdom is also Sets in a historical period of the ancient china which is the Warring period, and they both are set in the war time of the era, both Main characters are strong and idiotic.

I've seen first 3 episodes so far of Vinland. Both these anime have a young male protagonist in a historic time period. Vinland seems to be setting up for a war to take place in it and Arslan Senki was all about wars. 

Arslan as a character has a fair resemblance to Knut in later parts of the show. Themes are at times similar. 

These 2 as a historical anime manages to encompass all the historical aspects, events with the feeling of fantasy and engaging story. Both of them are based in a warlike scenario, teaches the guilt of war and loss and follows the journey of insane character development of MC. They also deal with the reality of war, slavery, and the powerlessness of being poor in a country that only values money and at the same time shows the reasoning and mentality of the oppressors and somewhat reflects the history in making, and from that I mean our history in making. 

Both animes have epic battles and a great story that follows the same theme: epic fight scenes and political issues. Vinland's plot is set in Iceland, when a boy named Thorffin, due to various circumstances, ends up getting involved in several Viking conflicts in the Vinland region. While in Arslan Senki, the protagonist sets out on a journey after allies so they can help him achieve his goal.  

Fantasy world with great direction and slower pacing and very good writing. The MC isn't overpowered and you see constant growth both in power levels as well as a character. Side characters aren't 1 dimensional and have their own faults and issues. While not as realistic as Vinland Saga, Mushoku Tensei touches some very real themes. 

Prologue. Vinland Saga and MT both have the same structure in the story in setting out what is said to be some of the best storytelling anyone could witness. The two anime have prologues that bring forward solid characters with believable personalities who also happen to be troubled individuals. In any case, the two starters bring forward a story of growth that may not seem like a lot when viewing them, but generally mean a lot in the long run. Although both are yet to be completed, in terms of the franchise for the anime, as of this recommendation. If they do, they will be known as great stories with amazing characters and development to feed off from. Nothing too similar in stories other than blatantly similar structures and equally as offensive characters. Great stories I would recommend if you are a fan of each respective genre, they come under a "must watch" category. read more 

Both are anime that greatly expresses how one cope with trauma. One (Rudy) who is always bullied so he just chose to be alone and never wanting to leave their house, and one (Thorfinn) who witnessed the death of his father and is trying to get revenge. 

Both anime follow a young protagonist with combat capabilities, Jormungand following a modern child soldier while Vinland Saga follows a teenage viking. The deuteragonists of both stories also have some similar character traits such as being cunning and in charge of a military force. Also it should be mentioned that the name Jormungand comes from a Norse mythology which many of the characters from Vinland Saga believe in. 

Children who have only known the battlefield begin to question if there is more to life than just fighting and death, and if they are worthy of a more peaceful existence after the crimes that they have committed. 

They both represent the best of historic fiction genre for me. Forget about Game of Thrones or other edgy shows relying on explicit gore and sex, watch these shows instead.  

Both are storydriven Seinen series that tackle mature themes. 

Revenge. Revenge can build people. Revenge can make people stronger, more heartless maybe. This is true for Akame ga Kill and Vinland Saga. Somewhat unknowledgeable MCs Tatsumi and Thorfinn find themselves burning for revenge after seeing those close to them perish. A story of growth through the harsh realities that expectations misrepresented, AGK has Tatsumi join the Night Raid to destroy the empire, while Vinland Saga has Thorfinn sail out with Askeladd in hopes to achieve his goal. Both are dark, harsh, but honest anime on what is is really like.  

These are brutal animes that depict hardships & cruelties of life caused by greedy, manipulative & conscious less people in power. Where life & happiness are a fleeting reality that is replaced by unimaginable sorrow for the characters of both animes because of the relationships shared. The is some light hearted moments in Akama ga kill that can be enjoyed for a short while compared to Vinland Saga but both are similar just set in different worlds & era's.  

They both follow a young lad with one or more parents killed at the start of the series. They meet interesting characters and the animation is beautiful in both of the shows. The action in Vinland Saga and in Demon Slayer is amazing, the fight scenes are so good. They are also similar in length. 

Both Vinland Saga and Demon Slayer have protagonists who lose almost everything they love, with exceptional fight scenes, and action. Although Demon Slayer has a more optimistic lead character who instead of going absolutely nuts like Thorfinn tries to be more optimistic and protect other people from the suffering he had to endure himself. 

The main characters both struggle with their dream of vengeance sacrificing anything and everything to obtain it, i highly recommend these animes some of my favorite. 

Similar stories for a real figher, in a group of mercenaries, who want to become stronger, and get to the moment he is unbeatable. A lot of blood and nice fighting scenes are just part of the plot, in both animes, there is a nice story of a human's life. 

Both have a dark and gritty animation style Vikings like Ships, Mongols like Ships Both have a prince/princess that needs to face character growth to lead their people Things don't always end happily 

Both shows are historical and show the development of a trip through unknown lands. Also the way to explain the plot is very similar. 

-Revenge. -Based in historical times.  

If you like a violent anime with a lot of people dying this is the show for you. it shows the time of the Viking era. It is very similar to Youjo Senki both characters a ruthless and and ready to kill. Vinland saga also has some great animation. 

Historical setting and Space opera heavy on war drama. Protagonists start as kids who, as a result of certain similar event, develope an interesting talent for war in their teen years and polish them for purpose of revenge.  

Revenge! It is the topic when starting the plot. Both protagonists will do whatever it takes to fulfill their objective, regardless of joining the side that has hurt them so much. Both present powerful protagonists (in their field) in addition to great battles. Plus: They also present their dose of ....Betrayal!!!. 

While both are in vastly different worlds, both are very well developed and lived in. Side characters who normally wouldn't be memorable are and the soundtracks for both are iconic. Both protagonists go through some sort of pain and are accompanied by violent people who you still love and have depth. However, unlike other darker shows, they both still don't glorify violence and have an ultimate theme condemning said violence. Also, the animation for both is fantastic. 

Both mc's are seeking out revenge against the men who killed their fathers. 

Both have a masterpiece manga (9.00 rating) and the anime is pretty good too, both are historical animes and have really good general characters, i would recommend if watching Kingdom to read the manga until season 2 of the anime ends, then watch the 2 seasons and if you want then continue reading the manga, but must watch 3rd season and 4th season.

The early parts of the show with Thorfinn are very remnicient of War in the Pocket. 

If you like the ideology of Vinland Saga and you like the part where it's showing the real consequence between wars, slavery, and the problem about politics and everything back then. You may also like Magi. It focuses about those topics and also about the problems of every kingdom
