The Eva Rebuild movies were bad and they made NGE + EoE better in retrospect. And I didn't even like NGE + EoE that much.
I liked both endings from NGE (25-26) and EoE. I thought both the elevator and Kaworu scenes were meaningful.
Naruto manga is good. And Rock Lee is main character material.
I think I spend more time finding and reading reviews than actually watching/reading a series.
Also Mob Psycho 100 is way better than One Punch Man in my opinion and that would never change. Fite me irl bruh.
Animu of the Year
( 1x Strictly Aired in that year / 1x New found favourite in that year / 3x Honourable Mentions / 1x Unexpected new found love)
2014: Zankyou no Terror / Psycho-pass / Barakamon, Shingeki no Kyojin , Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun / Kuroko no Basket
2015: Death Parade / Gintama / Haikyuu!! Season 2, Subete ga F ni Naru (The Perfect Insider), Oregairu / Prison School
2016: Mob Psycho 100 / Hunter x Hunter / 91 Days, Kekkai Sensen, No Game No Life / The entire Monogatari series
2017: Shingeki no Kyojin S2 / - / Konosuba, Hanamonogatari / Kill la Kill (did not watch too many shows this year)
2018: Hiatus - only anime I remember watching was Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3
2019: Hiatus - only anime I remember watching was Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 Part 2 which riled me up for anime again
2020: - / TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN / - / -
OP / ED / OP: Special Mention of the Year
2014: Noragami / Tokyo Ghoul / Zankyou no Terror
2015: Death Parade (duh) / Kekkai Sensen / Subete ga F ni Naru
2016: Kiznaiver / Bungou Stray Dogs / Mob Pscyho 100 (* even though 2016 was a rather shitty year, it was definitely tough to choose between Kiznaiver and MP100 for best OP. Kiznaiver also nailed that ending perfectly in which never once did I skip.)
2017: Shingeki no Kyojin S2 honestly just keeps topping one OP after another / - / - / (yes I did not find the OP to Hero Academia to be that good, still think the first one is the best)
Monogatari Best Girl (as of completing Owarimonogatari, June 2020) Senjougahara
jk its obviously Kaiki
"I might've been called a cruel man with a lolita complex, but my moral fiber hasn't deteriorated to the extent that I put my hands on a girl's private property."
~My personal scoring system~
*strictly for shows (TV series, movies) I have completed. (Excluding OVAs/Specials)
(1) - Basically I first divide shows into two main category by asking myself this question: does it have a coherent plot that finishes what it started? If yes then I can easily throw it into above or below 5.
(2) - If a show meets the criteria for any of the ten points mentioned below, it goes there first.
Literally the WORST anime I've ever seen yet somehow I managed to finish it? If it's worse than this then into the drop bin it goes. I guess the fact that I even have a single show rated 1 in my completed list shows that I still saw more merit than those which I dropped right off the bat.
The kind of show where it has some build-up that will only leave you frustrated if you don't stay to find out what happens eventually, but overall turning to be an incoherent piece of shit that was just a waste of time after all.
"I understand you're trying to do this, this and this, but you definitely failed big time." or "I mean, why did you do all these for, then? If you're just gonna end up not sticking with what you started?", or just, well, plain boring and absolutely nothing worth remembering.
Shit *starts* to *try* to make sense. But thinking back, it was really cringey because it's way too forced it just ended up with me being frustrated, especially those who were not too bad from the start and the ending kinda ruined
Shit finally starts to make sense, like yes you finished what you started; still may not be totally convincing but based on "anime-logic", I forgive you. And also have some of its moments that are actually logical.
Has its moments that were nice/fun while it lasted, especially with (minimum criteria #1) characters that don't bore easily. However nothing much memorable. Minimum criteria #2: character development must at least make sense and not forced
Enjoyed most time watching it, either the humor was really well done, the feels really got to me, or spurred me enough interest to read the manga, and the characters must be at least memorable. Or just a show really well done and deserved the recognition. This is also the score I give to shows who "does a great job being itself", meaning they did well enough for what they've set out for themselves to achieve. i.e./tl;dr/simply put: did not disappoint.
Got me thinking in between catching the weekly episodes (for those ongoing ones) or after the whole thing has ended. In other words, able to hype me to look forward to the next episode or season or interesting enough for me to read reddit discussions about it. Also, the experience is really one of it's kind and times flies by unknowingly with each episode.
Must at least have qualities of both 7 & 8 in addition to it being distinctively unique in its own way that's rarely found in anything else that I've seen. A feast for the intellect or my personal character development. Or just a "perfect" show that I have nothing to complain about so it deserves this.
To deserve this spot, the show must've rocked me to my damn core with characters I've cared and most likely cried over. This is the kind of show that makes me question my existence, has unforgettable experience almost like no other, and will always hold a special place in my heart despite it having flaws. Either all that or you need to be Hunter x Hunter level of animu.
(3) - Notice how my personal enjoyment wasn't that much of a factor so in a way I believe I'm being fair and not biased towards my feelings.
(4) - Important: A show that gets lumped into the 10 respective categories is not definite. "Bonus points" are given to it if say, compared to others of its caliber, this particular title has something that is exceedingly better at, so I'll give that that. Similarly, the opposite of bonus is also deducted from the original score given based on the (above 10) categories that the show falls into. This happens when a show has a component so significantly worse than all others that it is good in/has achieved. (But so far I haven't given any bonus/deduction that's more than 2 points.)
(5) - Lastly I just want to say that I seriously think A LOT about the shows I rate and even long after I rate them, I constantly look back on the list to rethink my choice.
"You should enjoy the little detours. To the fullest. Because that's where you'll find the things more important than what you want."
Well, for me it's pretty subjective. I love pretty anime with great characters and nice music, and Hyouka is just like that. I'm also a big detective and mistery fan, so this show clicks with me in all aspects. I'm also a huge Sato Satomi and Nakamura Yuuichi fan haha.
I generally love KyoAni and everything they make, it's been that way for a while.
So I can't really give you any objective reasons of why Hyouka is so great. It just is for me.
I can understand though why some people can't see it the way I do, so if you don't like it don't force it, life is too short to waste your time on things you don't like.
