This is my attempt at a profile theme, and I hope you enjoy it while you're here. I really like Record of Lodoss War, and Deedlit especially.
I've been watching anime off and on since I was in school. I enjoy it quite a bit, and all animation in general, really. If you have a suggestion, or if you just want to say something to me, feel free to do so. I don't mind at all.
(I've been getting pretty awful internet at home lately, however, so if it takes me awhile to respond, that's probably why.)
I tend to rewatch a lot of anime. I'd just rather watch something that I know I like rather than something I'm unsure of, especially since I usually feel compelled to finish any anime that I start unless it's truly awful. But regardless of that, I'm always looking out for new things to watch, and I'm open to just about anything. I really like fantasy as a genre, and I tend to prefer more serious anime to comedies, but I'm down for anything, really. I don't really care for things that are too edgy, but everybody's definition of what that means is different, so take that for what it is.
I'm happily married to @aethercowboy. He doesn't visit this site much, but he does at least watch anime with me. : P
I also enjoy watching anime with our daughter. We are currently watching the Aria series together, although her favorite thing in the whole world is Pokemon.
My ratings are mainly based on personal enjoyment, although I do try to have some objectivity. I also (usually) keep anime series and movies separate in my ratings, because it's easier for me, personally, that way.
Other than that, I hope that you and your family are having a wonderful Year of the Dragon.
I was re-watching Twilight Venom after playing Wild Arms 2 in Japanese. I replayed that forgotten JRPG because Sony didn't translate the story correctly, putting to many words into Akifumi Kaneko's mouth. Like Grandia (also forgotten), it also has some romance for the ladies.
After finding out Kaneko-san's involvement in that anime Symphogear, I decided to put it in my PTW list. It's not western like Wild Arms or space westerns, but it's said to have references to Wild Arms. I might watch it some time before Armed Fantasia comes out which should have had an artstyle that fits in with the western genre better.
At least Armed Fantasia will be more like Trigun than Wild Arms 4 and 5 which are generic pseudo sci-fi. It'll also be a mix of western and steampunk, more like neo western. It'll be the true Wild Arms 4 going back to its western roots.
Other than that, I'm definitely catching up with the Silent Möbius sequel that came out ten years ago called QD. Unfortunately, it's Japanese only, but even so, I'm glad Silent Möbius, Wild Arms 2 and Sakura Wars 1-4 have given me a reason to study Japanese all this time.
I feel sorry for Wild Arms 2 getting marred by bad translations. Its got worse translations than GBC JRPGs.
Your daughter would probably have a better chance playing Revelations The Demon Slayer (part of the Megami Tensei franchise that came to the west before everyone knew Persona), Crystalis, Dragon Warrior, Metal Walker (like Pokémon, but with robots) or Lufia.
After growing tired of those newer Pokémon releases or Pokémon being too mainstream, I might as well check out Metal Walker. Metal Walker must have higher frame rates or better animations than those ill-fated gen 8 games (expecting customers to pay more for mediocre extended content or DLC).
Said friend really liked it on the day of her birthday. Other than that, thank you milady.
I'm only 20% into kanji (out of 1,945 Chinese characters), but overall, I've had fun learning Japanese. Someone else the other day mentioned this Hiragana Battle and I'd love to try that game some time. Duolingo will have to wait.
Japanese is weird sometimes because 1,945 Chinese characters being necessary to master the language. 3,000 for Cantonese and Mandarin.
I can see why Japanese people prefer the hiragana writing set over kanji. Yao Ming in an interview said that his mother tongue is very hard and Chinese used to be made up of 110,000 characters. Japan only imported around 60,000 in its early days.
With that said, how are you and your family doing this summer?
If you or someone you know want to get started with Japanese, then I would highly recommend Instant Japanese. I could give you the link to this PDF anytime you want.
In other news, I've been studying Japanese. Besides, I still plan to be multilingual someday.
I've also been replaying Valkyria Chronicles and my main girl is a big fan of all those seiyuu from Gundam SEED (one of them including Houko Kuwashima). We both like Atsuko Tanaka aka Major also.
Still, the American actors did a great job too like Laura Bailey.

I decided to read it after my Ontarian friend reminded me.
Summer is here and I also can't wait for Back To School Day.
