About nixops
An older anime and manga fan who graduated from comics and cartoons.
I dont like giant robots stomping around leaking oil all over my viewing pleasure, but show me those anime eyes and purple hair and my little heart goes kerthud-blup-ting! I enjoy rubber monster movies and "b" movies, and have been collecting figurines for awhile, but the crummy exchange rate has put paid to that.
Remember...
May the Uguu be with you.

A Few of my fav characters in no particular order of preference.

How is your new home/location?

Antalk | 02-27-13, 5:13 PM
Have a safe trip my friend. Please say 'hi' once you are established in your new location. Welcome to winter.

I won't bother you anymore this week as you are busy. Thanks for getting back to me before you left. Once you are established in your new home, let me know. Until then, cheers and have a safe journey.

What's up nix? I know you are getting ready to close up shop and head north. I want to pass to you a movie that you may be able to squeeze in before you go: Jin-Roh. Orlah recommends that if you are going to watch it, check this site out to help put the movie into context: Wiki, Jin-Roh. It is a messed up anime but being a soldier, as I am, I think you will, I don't want to say like it, maybe appreciate it more than the average civilian.

I started on the Kara no Kyoukai 1: Fukan Fuukei series. Strange but enticing. I find series that involve shiki are odd romeo and juliette type of stories. Right up my alley. Good recommendation.

Thanks for the link to the 61st. Bookmarked it.

Do you want a fun romp down the streets of Edo? Try this: Samurai Girls

I had Kara no Kyoukai 1 - 7 in my PTW so I moved them all to my On-Hold list. I am hoping to get to them before spring hits. Hopefully by that time you will be established in your new town and home.

I haven't been to AMPSaVAC today. I am hoping you accepted the invite.
I will check out Kara and I have watched Shikabane Hime and found it amazing. Both of them. In fact, I just finished my 2.25 mile walk (yeah, in the cold and snow) and I have an mp3 player dedicated to just op and ed tracks and one of my favorites that came up was the op for Shikabane Hime.
Daryl had the last bit of happiness smashed last night...the foreman told him he couldn't take his planned vacation, one that has been paid for. HR is handling it now. I don't think he will last the summer.
I am willing to bet you have some awesome/interesting/funny/sad stories about your time in the service. Two years or twenty one years, doesn't make a difference; you still toed the line when your nation called you and that is commendable. Be proud of what you did. You and I did what less than 1% of the world's population has done and that is serve their nation. I'd love to hear some of your stories.

Denpa teki na Kanojo: That was one of the best recommendations ever, thank you. Denpa needs to be a series, imho. There is a guy at work, Daryl, who is constantly complaining that the company is sucking the happiness out of him and after being employed there for a year, I now understand. Maybe that's why I really got into this anime.

I sent you an invite to our military club since you are a vet. When did you serve? We have used SA technology in Iraq and Afghanistan in the form of vehicles used to defeat IED's. They have hulls that were designed and proven in battle by the SA military. They have saved many soldiers. Even though I did not ride in one, those that did, kept the roads I traveled on clear of IED's, so they had a direct impact on my life.

As far as the fuel pods go, yes they are for extended range. I am not to high on our coast guard pilots. Most of our cases happened when it was shitty at best, and you could not count on them for support. We had a case w/ a boat trapped on the breakwall w/ injuries. I had to get dropped off on the breakwall and search it for victims w/ 10 ft seas crashing on it and 30 knot winds. The coast guard choppers were grounded ( candy asses ) but low and behold, LifeFlight appeared and said they could stay on station for 15 minutes to provide illumination. We found out the pilot was a Vietnam chopper pilot. Our SITREP reflected our disdain for our pilots and praise for the LifeFlight pilot. Love the army and marine chopper pilots. If you want to talk helo's, give Furykury1 a call; he's a Vietnam helo vet.
Who did you have a border war with and when?

Antalk | 02-04-13, 8:43 AM
btw, I did SAR ( Search And Rescue ) when I first joined the military w/ the US Coast Guard. I was on a 41 ft patrol boat and had to deal w/ rotor heads, they didn't like to come out and play when the wx was rough. I didn't let my bias against rotor heads get in the way of my enjoyment of Rescue Wings. While I was in Iraq, we had to call in Medivac's frequently, those guys/gals have balls that clank.

Great recommendation: Denpa teki na Kanojo. I have only seen the first ep and am looking forward to watching it tomorrow. I am going to have to download the ed track as well.

The helo is a UH-60 and the pods are fuel tanks. In the states, currently the only ones w/ pods like that are used in special forces missions. The helo is very detailed/authentic as are the F-15's. Thanks for the info on the address issue and the anime.
