MAL Bunkasai is an online festival inspired by Japanese high school culture festivals (bunkasai). The event will be held on September 17-18, 2022.
You've seen characters preparing for school bunkasai with their classmates in anime, right? In Japan, culture festivals are created and hosted entirely by the students, and this will be no different. MAL Bunkasai will be focused on showcasing our members' interests and talents, and creating new friendships between members—just like a real festival in anime.
Help us decorate the VR venue
As one part of the event, we are also preparing a virtual reality (VR) world for members to host activities like a real-life culture festival.
A VR headset is NOT required—only a PC is needed to enter the world.
Help us create 2D and 3D designs to decorate the VR venue! Selected works will appear inside the bunkasai world during the event.

The Student Council wants your event ideas!
During other holiday events like MALoween or Easter, it's always the moderator team preparing tasks and challenges for the community. With MAL Bunkasai, we want to give all the creativity back to you.
Various ideas include:
- Let's make Melon pan!—Run a baking contest with a set recipe and custom fillings, or hold a YouTube livestream demonstration of how to make awesome melon pan.
- AMQ Idol Song Showdown—Who really knows idol songs the best? Organize a competition to find out!
- MAL Plays Gartic Phone—Create a few anime-related prompts (e.g. End of Evangelion scene) and send them around to other Bunkasai members to create one huge gartic phone-like gif made by the community.
- VTuber livestream—New VTuber and want to get a larger following? Host a livestream on your channel and livestream it to a VR venue instance!
- PV voice-over—Get Bunkasai members to create custom scripts and voice over PVs for anime with new and funny dialogs.
- MAL Draws Manga—Have each member draw a panel to continue a manga story.
- Anime Song Karaoke/Trivia—Host a karaoke event in the VR venue and get people to guess which song is being sang.
- The list goes on!
