Oh, there is also an obscure Japanese composer called Hoppy Kamiyama who is very influenced by Zappa's style.
I could never find the whole album though.

Yup, I do like some DeepPurple :) Actually my guitar teacher forced me to learn some riffs
years ago from the album "Deep Purple in Rock" LEL Maybe I shoul relearn them again.
I also used to like BlackmoresNight a lot, a side project from Richie Blackmore, but my taste
has changed a lot since then and it's still changing all the time.

There are many many many Zappa references in pop-culture. Like Matt Groening based some
of his creations on Zappa's insights and his early comics actually depict his characters owning
some Zappa vinyls >__< Oh, and from what I know Bart's character is based on Zappa's song
ValleyGirl. He just took all these stereotypes from the cheeky 80s valleygirl and applied him to
a boy character.

In the game GuiltyGear one character is directly named after Zappa. I also saw once a random clip
from a FreddyKrueger movie and a boy had a poster from Zappa "Them Or Us" in the background.
I thought it was strange.

Without Zappa and Miles Davis we wouldn't have the fusion genre, meaning that's the genre where
musicians actually combined improvisations with (for its time) heavy rock riffs. You can hear some of
Miles Davis' influence on Zappa's WakaJawaka. Last time I was listening
to a DevinTownsend podcast and he admitted that he based some of his melodies on Addicted and
Deconstruction on Zappa's unique style. I have also heard somewhere that Zappa was friends with
Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and PinkFloyd. I think Jimi actually learned how to use the WahWah pedal
through Zappa and there is even a supposedly jam with Zappa and PinkFloyd on YT. Strangely enough,
Frank always denied playing with PinkFloyd, which is kinda contradicting to his personality because Frank
was known for his sharp mind and he always used to avoid psychedelic drugs. But whatever, the 60s
were a strange time. Frank also once planned a colab with the guitarist Carlos Santana, but it never
happened because Carlos couldn't stand Frank personally. It doesn't stopped Frank from naming
one track 'Variations On The Carlos Santana Secret Chord Progression' though.

I always discover new things in Frank's work. Like his album Joe's Garage is actually a pseudo-biography
based on his youth and the 2nd disc might describe his personal sufferings when he was in prison for
a short time (It's kinda a complex story, but it makes sense if you have read several books about him XD).
And the album Thingfish actually is Frank's take on how the shadow government/secret societies spread
AIDS and other diseases on purpose to further more speed up the depopulation of the world.

For the case you are wondering, I wouldn't even describe myself a huge Zappa fan. It's just that he was
a very important personality in the rock history just like TheWho, LedZeppelin or David Bowie.

Sorry, I don't have a PS4 :(

Though "Yooka-Laylee" looks pretty sick for the next generation consoles.
I hope they won't fuck up this kickstarter project.

"hahaha that's cool. I used to love that show when it came out. After the second season I never really continued it though because I didn't have tv at school."

- It's worth the time ! Personally I think the show is getting better with each season, more characters, more worldbuilding.
There are even some obscure references to musicians like Captain Beefeheart and Frank Zappa and some eps even poke fun
at conspiracy theories. The only nitpick I have with AdventureTime is that some eps are boring while others are pure fun.
You can sense that they are changing the script-writers all the time. Oh, and one ep in season 6 is even directed by this Japanese dude
who also made Mindgame and TatamiGalaxy.

"Naruto is good background noise and when I look up at it sometimes cool shit is happening."

- That's pretty much how I watched some eps from Digimon or BlueExorcist back then.
I played Tales Of Graces F or noodled on my guitar while in the background I was watching it.

I forgot one, she doesn't play anymore, but another friend was #1 fishing for years. She eventually maxed 200m, but I'm not sure what rank she's at now. But yeah, still on first name basis with these guys whenever I hop on from time to time- they're still there. Maybe after all these years they've spent on this one game, they feel like they'd be missing something if they just quit cold turkey. I don't. It's not the same anymore.

Yeah, sadly I missed out on the tradeable holiday items as well. Maybe except that zombie head from halloween 2005, don't think they have any value though.
Yeah, for a few years there I went and would play on the major holidays to collect, but they just started wasting bank space, haven't done it in years, except when they coincided with the time I was still playing.
lawlmartz May 12, 2015 11:26 AM
Get Lazarus, bro. It's a life saving extension for chromium. Ressurect your dead text!

I think the botting system I tried is gone now. I searched for RS bots and nothing came up that rang any bells. Oh well.

That is ridiculous. They were more than that when I bought my set on Old school.

That's cool though... I know I'll never play it hardcore like I did back in middle school, but I still have some friends I met on there that play religiously to this day. I've been friends with a lot of really high ranked and well known players, maybe a few names you recognize- Refenej (used to be #1 Magic forever and a half), she's still on. Helring (W46 famous, has been maxed and full completion for years), still plays. Dark One, I think he's changed his name now. He used to be top 100 overall. Some others, they've long quit though.

Do you have all those original, tradeable holiday items? If you still had a cracker in 2015, you'd have stupid cash hahaha.
lawlmartz May 10, 2015 12:19 PM
What bot program did you use? I was always legit, but I tried out one of the bot programs on a throwaway once to try it out. I can't remember the name of it, it was a long time ago, but it was mostly a combat bot. Worked pretty well- did the triangle method. Set it up at the Barb with about 5k iron throwing knives lol.

Yeah Old School's economy is so broken, I don't think they really even care. Phat sets were like 100k when I played last. It's a joke.

It was cool how simple it was back in the day- that was the charm of RS. Really hard, and rather rewarding, because everyone could get the same gear and stuff, it was just how you used it and not how fast you can run three ability trees.

I haven't played it in a few months now. I sold all my merch items. I wonder if they're even in the same ballpark of prices these days
lawlmartz May 9, 2015 11:00 AM
Old school doesn't have the same feel, like you said because of how they just restarted the economy. I have a full Phat and mask set on there, and like 500k cash at a really low level. It never really interested me to start over on old school when I had a very high leveled account on RS3.
I don't mind the new interfaces- it's about time they got up to where wow was in 2006, but it's more generic MMO now and less runescape.
Yep, the charm of it being both the most endlessly frustrating and fun game is gone.
lawlmartz May 7, 2015 6:02 PM
Whew, I thought I was an old player... I didn't start until 2005. You'd be appalled at the state of the game today. Jagex is finally selling money, hahaha. Not to mention they used to bait kids who played the game to scam their parents credit cards for chances to win legendary items on a wheel of fortune type thing.

They've put a lot of fan favorite stuff back, but they basically tried to placate everyone with Old school, and it just isn't the same. I played on and off for a few months over the last 4 years, and even in that time it's changed a lot. It's kind of sad now.
lawlmartz May 5, 2015 11:21 PM
