Imagine going up to your friend and tell them that you finished Attack on Titan as if that is the best flex you have ever told anyone.
You feel like you are such an anime veteran for staying true to AoT for the past decade just to find out that anime elitists and manga readers exist.
Nevertheless, Attack on Titan is officially over and it definitely left an impact to the anime community.
The directing is great, the worldbuilding is great, the art and the animation is great, the soundtrack is great, the voice acting is great and it definitely dropped one of the biggest plot twist that
...
broke the internet.
Plus, seeing that ODM gear in action for one final time is definitely something to remember.
However, the story itself is like a bucket full of holes trying to scoop up as many water as possible.
One of the reason is the contradicting theme in the plot.
"Anti-war vs heroism"
This is something that recurs since season 1 of AoT.
In one scene we see a bunch of people dying a senseless deaths to inflict horror into the hearts of viewers and in the next scene we see the main characters trying to commit an act of heroism and survive just because it is a canon event.
Because of it, it left some people in confusion more than enjoyment.
Honestly, the story could have ended anywhere along the "final" season but it spirals into military sci fi stuff with a post apocalyptic vibe ending just to deliver a message. (Truly a peak ending fr)
Don't get me wrong when I say all this but still gave it a good rating.
Nothing is perfect after all.
It is an enjoyable show with a lot of interesting aspect to it but the story just feels like it is being dragged along just to squeeze out as many content as possible but you can get past it if you keep in mind that this is just a work of fiction and everything that happens in the show does not have to be realistic whatsoever.
In conclusion, Attack on Titan is a great show that delivers good plot twist accompanied with decent drama, great animation and cinematography together with memorable soundtracks.
Thank you to Isayama, Wit and MAPPA for delivering AoT for the community to enjoy.
p/s : It feels kind of ironic that the show starts and ends with "attack on titan" now that I think about it

I have no plans on watching this movie initially but somehow here I am writing a review for this movie...
The story is simple, reusing the same formula just like pretty much every movie from Makoto Shinkai.
You give it a supernatural setting with a little bit of romance at the end while mesmerize the audience with stunning visuals. Also, give a little bit trauma to at least one of the main characters to elevate the plot.
The same formula over and over again, but the important thing is does it work?
"Yes"
One thing I can say is that it has a good direction. Everything is nicely balanced.

You can still enjoy this nicely even if you have an attention span of a tiktok video.
In conclusion, it is a nice and chill movie. Not too heavy on the plot and the direction makes sure everything stays nice and cozy even if they are reusing the same formula just like 50% (This is just a guess, don't hurt me for my ignorance) of anime movies available right now.
p/s : this movie really loves their running scenes do they, like literally, how much running scenes do you need to prove a point.

This is like the most messed up thing I have watched from Winter 2023.
From the same studio that animated Mushoku Tensei, we have been introduced with Oniichan wa Oshimai as their second anime title under their belt and all I can say is this feels illegal on so many levels.

WAS WRONG (kinda).
If I were to summarize it in two words, it would be "Degenerate moe"
Every time I click on the next episode, there are multiple forces going at war and I am left confusedly satisfied after each episode. Well, just in case you are wondering what are the forces I am talking about. Let me explain it to you.
First, my logical sense is constantly telling me that this show is next level messed up because what is so wholesome about a NEET that got genderbend with a (definitely illegal?) drug through a (definitely illegal?) clinical trial by his own sister for a just cause?! The fact that Mahiro casually assimilate into the society as a girl gives off a very sussy feeling. I cannot help but say "there's an impostor among us".
After all that reasoning, it feels like something that I should have dropped after episode 1.....but my sense of empathy is telling me to continue watching because this show is actually wholesome and heartwarming because Miharu is trying to help Mahiro overcoming that feeling of inferiority that caused him to slowly drift apart from the society and his own sister. Seeing Mahiro taking baby steps to re-enjoy life again is just a huge contributing factor towards the wholesome aspect of the story.
The last of those forces is your own desire. It does not matter if this show is packed full of fanservice or just your personal guilty pleasure. Stop listening to your own desire and learn from Mahiro. Stop being horny and start being happy.
Aside from that, apparently the developer of Holocure (Hololive fan game) is also a part of the animation team behind this show. From posting short animations to full on anime adaptation, it is quite cool to see that progress because this show has top tier quality. Not only the animation looks great, the art is nice and the color design really brighten up the mood of the show. The opening visual is straight up degen and the ending visual looks nice and comfy. Even the voice acting is praiseworthy because Mahiro definitely sounds annoyingly cute like a dude in a girl's body and Miharu having the same voice actor as Aladdin really brings back nostalgic feeling.
In conclusion, I can recommend you to watch this show because Oniichan wa Oshimai is definitely a casual watch for those seeking for guilty pleasure. Plus, there are multiple references in the show so try to spot as many as you can. I was expecting to see Mahiro playing Holocure but I do not see any so Kay Yu just missed the chance for clout but it is not a big deal.

I am not a sports anime fan but Blue Lock manages to pique my interest because it has the appeal towards action shounen fans.
The idea for the story is really interesting : A football battle royale for strikers.
Blue Lock the most unorthodox approach towards football and that is one of the reasons why it stands out compared to other football anime. Instead of regular training arc and the power of friendship to pull through each match, Blue Lock skips those training montage and tries to nurture the egoism in these characters during matches. the story development. Definitely sounds like a good show but it fell off once the story is stuck between the border of realistic and fiction.
The characters refer to their skills as "weapons" > There are visualization effects to portray character's growth > These visualization effects become canon > The show introduces more characters with quirky personality (not exactly in a good way sometimes) > Somehow the term "devour" becomes a common thing to say in this show.
If you still think it is realistic, you need heavy dose of grass touching.
Next, this is what I stumbled upon reading the manga :
I started reading the manga just before the rematch with the top 3 arc and this is where I discovered that the manga has more movement than the anime itself. That does not make any sense but it is true. The anime just merely adapting those manga panels without fully utilizing the animation medium to its fullest. The anime just mostly uses explanation which makes the imaginative process of the character's movement in the manga seems more fluid.
After that, sport fans can probably justify this but for me, there are quite a few minor retcons in the show. It is when a character is in a 1v1 situation and suddenly got intercept by another character. The fact that even the reactions from surrounding characters are surprised to see that character suddenly appears makes it feel like a cheap surprise. It is understandable in the manga that it is hard to display the positioning of all the characters on the field due to the manga panelling and the dialogue taking up spaces. However, this can be fixed in the anime but did the anime actually solves the issue? Well, yes and no. The good thing is they use overview shots of the field (the one with the characters being replaced with CGIs) from time to time so we can see the movement and the positioning of the characters on the field. The bad thing is that the anime just merely adapting those manga panels so it kinds of beat the purpose when we actually need to know the positioning of the characters.
Overall thought :
Well, color me surprise.
Not only this show is one of the highest rated football anime but it is mostly being carried by hype and not the quality of the show itself. I complaint about all this and yet I am also one of those people being pulled into this show because of hype. The animation kind of dropped after the first half of the show and my guess is the use of those visualization effects caused it to be that way.
After that, despite a vast range of characters, most of the characters are kind of cringe though. A dude that thinks that the football field is a battlefield, a dude that only knows the word "Glam" and a dude with a superiority complex that thinks he is a villain that devours the light. It would be nice if Blue Lock were to set the premise of the story as pure fiction so you know what to expect from it.
Despite all that, the show is still enjoyable because you can enjoy the adrenaline rush from it and I like the opening and the ending songs. The second opening especially is catchy and has the best opening visual so it is hard to skip it every week.
I recommend you to watch it if you like action shows and I do not recommend you to watch it if you are into slice of life and regular sports anime.
What I hope for the U20 arc (spoiler alert) :
Seeing that the announcement for the second season is already out, I am quite disappointed but at least I know what to expect this time. Well, this is true if 8Bit decides to include U20 arc with the third selection arc in the second season
Originally, I hope that the U20 arc would be a movie because the arc is definitely the best arc from Blue Lock as of now. If they actually manage to animate the whole thing carefully and stopped relying on the characters to explain everything that is going on, it is going to be pure adrenaline rush from start to finish. Seeing the Itoshi brothers going up against each other, Shidou Ryuusei being an absolute menace, the characters trying to overcome the U20 defense and Isagi's lucky shot is definitely going to be a nice closure for the movie.

I like this season of Danmachi.
Obviously this alone cannot convince anyone to watch it so I will try to elaborate on that.
I consider Danmachi as an underrated fantasy series despite the amount of members this series has on MAL due to its wasted potential.
Aside from picking up girls in dungeon, the story mostly focuses on the aspect of heroism. That is a very interesting concept given that this is a fantasy series so they can create their own fairy tales and legends to make people invested not only in the main story but also in these extra details. to be a hero like Argonaut makes me interested in knowing more about the legend of Argonaut but I am not seeing any signs of it after season 1 sooo...... Is this something they are going to reveal later on in the series or forgotten?
Other than that, the story always seemed to play it safe which makes the pattern of the story predictable. Side characters are mere scapegoats just to make Bell looks good. Well, it does affect the enjoyment experience but it is not exactly a huge problem because they nailed the part to make Bell looks good so I guess it is an equivalent exchange.
However, this is where the story gets interesting. Despite the story being predictable, this season's story took a darker turn which elevates the suspense and kind of gives me a vibe of softcore horror. PLUS, we can finally learn more about Ryuu as a character so that is a huge bonus from this season as well. Ryuu has been introduced since season 1 and she has been quite an intriguing character due to her background story and she is not merely there to be Bell's fangirl.
Now, Let's talk about the execution.
Honestly, I was afraid that J.C. Staff is going to fail at delivering the Astraea Familia incident because of the first half of part 2. The pacing part 2 initially felt like a bumpy ride that could potentially ruin the momentum from S4 Part 1. The problem is by constantly switching scenes between the main duo and the rest of the gang, the excitement for the story progression is like playing with a light switch non-stop.
Furthermore, trying to see whether Cassandra's vision came true or not during the Monster Rex fight while focusing on the survivability of the main duo really dampens the enjoyment. Like for seriously, is there a problem to separate these two situations into different episodes. Just imagine the Monster Rex fight being compressed into a single episode, that would have been pure adrenaline rush from start until end and there is no need to spam Cassandra's vision every now and then.
Aside from the Monster Rex fight, there are other issues like having the characters explaining everything even though they can just show it to the viewers. This is just poor use of animation as a storytelling medium but given that J.C. Staff is known for cutting around corners in the anime community, it is a good thing to have low expectations because it blew my mind when they actually delivered the Astraea Familia incident perfectly. Not only that, seeing the trauma that haunts Ryuu to this day makes it a lot more heartwarming to see her with Bell because his naive nature complements really well with her story. Among all the female characters in the series, she deserves Bell the most. The fact that she finally got the conclusion for her past proves it even more.
In conclusion, the story is a major improvement compared to the prequels, the animations really showed movement and not simply shaking JPEGs with sound and Cassandra never got a proper conclusion with her vision despite being constantly spammed throughout the entire season is quite funny.

You are here for the girls, I am here for the comedy. We are not the same.
Ignoring the fact of how many fanservice is being squeezed every way possible, this is isekai done right... if you exclude certain things. Instead of having a middle aged man trying to act like a clueless kid which is extremely cringy, we have Cid Kagenou who chose to act like a chuunibyou which places him on a higher podium of isekai mc compared to every duplication of Kirito's character design.

which I am going to talk more later on. The first few episodes are too edgy for me but the anime starts to balance it out with the comedy after that so just bear with it until then. One thing about why isekai are trash is because of the overpowered mc which ruins the story and the character development but Eminence in Shadow manages to nerf Cid by making him mob character wanna be and separates him from the story of the world he resides in and use him as a problem solver just like Saitama in One Punch Man. Plus, this series has a lot of dumb humor and way too many characters just for everyone to forget them.
Disregarding the abundance of fanservice in the anime, the animation and the direction is quite good especially during the "I am Atomic" scene. While we are on that, that scene is truly spectacular like for seriously, the voice acting is the true fanservice of the show. Respect for everyone involved in that particular scene.
Now, lets talk about the comparison with manga.
1. The manga has the better introduction for the story than the anime.
2. The manga is more comedy oriented while the anime is quite balanced after the first few episodes (plus, it focuses more on the story than the manga).
3. The anime has better worldbuilding than the manga.
4. I am Atomic is definitely better in the anime.
5. Cid is more like a clown in the manga while in the anime he is a lot more edgy.
In conclusion, both are great adaptation of the source material (probably, idk since I don't read the ln) so you can still enjoy it if you want to go through both of them.

You call yourself a mecha fan but you instantly decided to skip Gundam when you see one.... Yeah, you are not alone.
It is understandable due to the sheer amount of gundam shows making you want to put it aside and rewatch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. However, when someone told me that Witch from Mercury is a beginner friendly gundam series. It automatically became an instant watch. One thing I can say is that I do not regret anything.
The visual alone is mesmerising and even though there are some CGIs here and there but this is the best visual I have seen from Fall 2022 comparing

with Chainsaw Man and Bocchi the Rock. CGIs are slowly dominating this era of anime but this show just managed to deliver that sweet 2D animations. Even the worldbuilding is great and the opening scene in the episode one allures me into it and I officially finished a gundam show. The team involved in this project really understand how to make sci-fi mecha shows and I respect that. For that alone worthy a 9/10 for me tbh without factoring in other things.
Continuing with the story, the story is a little meh tbh but still enjoyable because it is simply a slice of life country girl going to city school crossover with isekai magic school show. Apparently after having some discussions with other gundam fans, the story is rather nice since it is not exactly military-esque like other gundam shows. There are also yuri in it which pique the curiosities of most people but some people are left disappointed just to find out it is softcore yuri and I enjoy watching them griefing. Despite all that, the show is actually dark from the beginning and I never knew that birthday song is cursed (I found out about the prologue after watching episode 2 which is frustrating ngl). The underlying plot of Aerial and intention behind the Suletta's mother really shook fellow gundam newbies and some veteran when they find out about it making me looking forward what else the show has to offer( but the story kind of slowed down after that so I started to lose interest in it.). However, the ending literally took the words out of me like WHAT JUST HAPPENED?! (like seriously, I didn't expect that at all).
For the characters, I really like the character design and their interactions can only be described with this - "If you run, gain one. Move forward, gain two". First, the main character Suletta is a clumsy country girl who came to the "big city school" with a bucket list of what she wants to do in school (Sounds familiar right, just like a slice of life character's description). After that, we have Miorine which is just a damsel in distress rebelling against her controlling parent. There are other characters but nothing much to say about them. However, the most interesting character in the show is Suletta's mother because she looks like a good mother to Suletta but at the same time she is a mastermind pulling the strings making the ending truly unexpected.
In conclusion, this is a very interesting show to be a beginner friendly gundam and definitely worth recommending to fellow mecha fans who never watched gundam. This show can receive a higher rating from me but I am trying not to be bias towards it and set an unnecessary expectations for the second season.

Chainsaw Man is expected to be on the front line of the anime industry but now that the anime is out, I have to disagree with this matter for various reasons including my own. First of all, the story is great since it is not like your typical shonen series due to how unpredictable it can get from time to time. It is just something that struck many hearts especially the younger audience because it is gore, horny, action packed and dark. So, did the anime did justice to the Chainsaw Man fandom? Well.... yes and no.
Initial thought after watching episode 1 :

Chainsaw Man is loved by many is not simply because of the story itself, but it is the ability of the creator of Chainsaw Man, Fujimoto Tatsuki. His ability as a mangaka or a visual storyteller in general is great and it is proven by his past works like Fire Punch, Sayonara Eri and Look Back. "A picture is worth a thousand words" can describe the medium of manga and comic perfectly because a single panel of image needs to be able to cultivate the reader's imagination to give movement and extra details to that panel for them to immerse in the story. This ability of Fujimoto Tatsuki allows him to introduce a lot of characters and make the readers to be invested in those characters within a limited amount of time given to them in the story.
The story of Chainsaw Man in a nutshell is like playing Doki Doki Literature Club where every single route leads back to Makima except for Kobeni's route because of how natural the plot armor looks in the series. (I read the manga twice prior the anime and both of them gave a different feels to it. The first read was quite action packed and fast paced while the second read was surprisingly slow paced after reading other works from Fujimoto Tatsuki (Will talk more about this in the final thought)).
Continuing with the production itself, I personally think it is over the top to the point that it sets a new level of average for each episode. It is nice to have different endings for each episode as a fan service and multiple sakuga moments in a single episode. Because of that, having minor flaws can look like a major thing because the standard of average has been raised. The first impression from the first episode is quite.... interesting. For this matter, all I can say is it depends on perspective. Since Chainsaw Man will ended up as one of the mainstream anime just from its hype from the fans, it is to be expected that more people are going to be interested in anime. If you have been a while in the anime community, seeing CGIs here and there are not exactly surprising since studios can cut corners to focus on other parts or add a little touch to it to give certain scenes more oof or oomph and it is actually praiseworthy IF they are implemented nicely in the show.(This is just my personal opinion but if you watch Dorohedoro, it looks more like a testing ground for Chainsaw Man)
Final thought :
Now that the first part of the anime is over, we can see that MAPPA has chosen the slow paced route which I think is an interesting option since MAPPA can stretch out the story as much as possible before the next part of the manga is finished. As I said earlier, Fujimoto Tatsuki is a great visual storyteller because he manages to convey the story by using the environment and subtle expressions to tell the story which can seen clearly in Fire Punch and Sayonara Eri. Initially, most people will think that the story is about Denji fighting for his everyday life and for Makima's attention but the story is more about Denji ̶c̶o̶p̶p̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶s̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶t̶i̶t̶t̶i̶e̶s̶ coping with life and I guess MAPPA did a great job with that part. Since MAPPA chose to convey the story in a visual manner aka the slow paced route as opposed to the fast paced route (If you only focus on the actions and the dialogues), they manage to fully utilise the subtle expressions and the environment shots to give the anime a melancholic vibe to it which is great but it can impose a problem on the future arc like the international incident arc where the story is really fast paced (I hope I can be proven wrong for this).
For the animation, MAPPA did a great display of both the cinematography and the animations but it would have been nicer if they can balance out the 3D and the 2D animations ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶U̶f̶o̶t̶a̶b̶l̶e̶. Furthermore, being the only anime (if I'm correct) that has a different ending for each episode truly makes Chainsaw Man a force to be reckon with but then again, it would have been nicer if they can focus more on balancing out the 3D and the 2D animations.
Next, Chainsaw Man has a very interesting choice of OSTs (idk whether to like it or not but it definitely passes the vibe check) but the sound effects are not that phenomenal (For example, Denji vs Katana Devil final fight scene seems a little dull due to lack of hype from the sounds) but it is enough to give the audience the immersive experience especially during the slow moments in the anime. Giving the voice acting roles of the main casts to underrated and new talents are a surprise at first but not a bad decision since they are great at it.
In conclusion, go watch it

From the same mangaka of Magi, Orient not only got an anime adaptation but it manages to get a part 2 of the anime adaptation. So, surely it is better than the prequel. Well, it is both yes and no. Not only the story develops even more but it is also a lot more action packed compared to the last season. You can see the effort put into this anime but the problem is there is more action compared to the last season, which also means it requires better animation to properly display everything that is going through that moment. it is just a cinemagraph with visual effects and that alone is a massive turn off. Furthermore, there is not much of a problem to reuse the same shots over and over again but at least there has to be something worth watching after that. After that, the overall flow of the anime is honestly sad to look at actually. Casually inserting a flashback or something similar during an action scene without a proper transition not only makes it hard to sympathize with the characters but it also makes certain characters looks worse than their initial impression.
In a nutshell, Orient has a solid foundation since the idea of the story itself is not bad but the execution of it is unfortunately terrible because there is nothing much to like about it. You are welcome to watch it if you want but it is wasted potential in my opinion

A-1 Pictures made an original anime and honestly, this show is quite average but the fact that it is original and there are a lot of personalities to this show, It manages to bring up that score. The story is nothing much to be honest if you are looking for something good to binge but personally, this can be considered as a casual watch where you can watch an episode a day before going to sleep or something like that. However, just like stated earlier, there are multiple personalities in the show making it look like a wholesome slice of life series instead of terrorism

and secret agents stuff but somehow they manage to balance out the entire thing.
Continuing with the characters. It is true that this show is a waifu bait but it is a waifu bait that actually delivers. First, Chisato is like a big and bright sunflower that you cannot stop look at it because she can lift people's stress with her smile alone and not forgetting that it is important to look at her personality respectfully because A-1 Pictures somehow manages to fit in that many personality shots for the viewers to enjoy. After that, we have Takina. She has a very stiff and upright personality just like those corporate workers making her relatable to many viewers. Contrasting her personality with Chisato, both of them looks very good together and it is obvious that they are just friends. Definitely just friends. Aside from that, you have Kurumi, she is like a pampered fluffball that you just want to pinch her cheeks so hard every time you see her on screen. After that, we have Majima as an antagonist and he is actually a very decent antagonist for an original anime because he is not only complementing Chisato as a character despite not having much appeal as a character.
Another thing to add, the overall art for the show are fantastic. The shading in some scenes looks very crisp and it adds that little of bit of mood for the atmosphere of the scene. Furthermore, it is undeniable to say that this show has great character design and fashion sense to it as we can see it throughout the entire anime including the opening and the ending song. On top of that, the animations are very clean. The animation directing for the action scenes and the camera angles are smooth enough to the point that dodging a bullet can look graceful rather than simply epic.
In conclusion, Lycoris Recoil is a great example of original anime since the characters are likable and the flow of the story is good enough where they can balance out the serious and the lighthearted moments for people to enjoy.
