This season brings us another title to add to our catalogue of generic battle academy harem anime: Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle. These days it's hard for shows to be innovative so when I watch a show featuring common clichés I tend not to get too worked up about it, but this show doesn't at least attempt to try to differentiating itself and it is as generic as they come. By the first episode these things occur within JUST the first episode:
☑ MC is a dense nice harem lead.
☑ Protagonist is actually OP.
☑ MC gets enrolled into an all-girls school.
☑ Started with the MC accidentally groping or
...
seeing a girl nude.
☑ Female student challenges MC to a duel.
☑ Every girl falls for the MC. (I'm not joking with you. Every single female in the school pretty much wants this guy's D.)
Story: 2/10
The story can be summed up like this:
Meet MC-kun. After some circumstances he ends up enrolled in an all-girls school (because why not?) and through his efforts he accidentally ends up getting an unwanted harem. The end.
Many shows within the "battle academy harem anime" genre can for the most part be summed up like this. Obviously this is not a true summary of the story but it does fit Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle and many of its similar shows pretty well.
Joking aside, here's a rough summary:
The previous ruling empire of Arcadia was overthrown via a rebellion five years ago. Lux Arcadia, a former prince of said empire accidentally ends up in a female dormitory's bathing area and falls on top of the kingdom's new princess Lisesharte while she is bathing and she challenges him to a Drag-Ride duel. The results of the duel somehow ends with Lux being enrolled into this all-girls school which "coincidentally" is where his younger sister and childhood friend are enrolled in.
If you think the story will try to explore its world more by explaining more on what the monster's known as Abyss are or what Drag-Rides are you'll be pretty disappointed. The Abyss are your generic evil monster that our main characters must destroy and the Drag-Rides simply get an explanation of: "They are ancient weapons excavated from the ruins." The anime does have a plot but due to some pacing issues I can't really make much of it and with its one-dimensional villains all over the place I can't say who the actual antagonist really is.
Basically what I'm saying is rather than focusing on better pacing, world building, and actual good character development most episodes are like this:
• Insert generic harem antics here.
• Potential haremette is in trouble!
• Lux defeats the one-dimensional villain and saves her.
• Girl has joined the harem!
• Repeat.
This is the case for: Lisesharte, Krulcifer and Celistia which is more than half the harem!
Art: 5/10
There's not really anything noteworthy to mention, it's pretty average. A lot of CGI is being used in the fights and they look pretty good at very least. Character design wise... I don't like Philphie very much. Her hair looks weird along with her massive breasts.
Sound: 4/10
Who thought having Lux being voiced by a woman would be a good idea? He sounds much too feminine! The OP and ED are at the very least decent overall although sometimes the beginning of the OP makes me want to bang my head against my monitor.
As for the soundtrack, it's nothing special. It fits the mood of the show and all but I can't see myself praising anything about it at all although it would be nice for more variety considering every fight in the show seems to use the same exact track every time.
Character: 2/10
Here's the characters so far:
• Harem lead former prince: Lux.
• Tsundere princess: Lisesharte.
• Deadpan childhood friend: Philphie.
• Flirty foreign student: Krulcifer.
• The proud man-hater: Celistia.
• The brocon little sister: Airi.
• Yandere assassin: Yoruka.
I honestly don't give a damn about any of these characters.
• Lux is your standard harem lead who is blessed with an OP Drag-Ride.
• Lisesharte, because her tragic backstory arrives and is somewhat resolved too quickly that I couldn't feel bad for her. Then she falls for Lux and spends most of her screentime playing the clingy jealous girl.
• Philphie is your standard childhood friend who ends up being there just for the fanservice.
• The little sister because she spends her screentime doing nearly nothing.
• The rest of the girls for falling in love with Lux after goes all OP on the shows one-dimensional villains.
Enjoyment: 2/10
"So bad it's good." That's pretty much the best way to describe this. That, or I may be a masochist. The characters annoy me, the fanservice turns me off and overall the story bores me for being predictable and horribly cliché. The fights end up as how you'd expect; the MC shows up to save a member of his harem, turns the tables on his opponent and then absolutely wrecks them. Most of the fights are very anti-climatic because once Lux shows you up can expect the fight to end up pretty damn quickly (I'm still salty about the episode 12's final battle).
To elaborate more on the fanservice there's a particular scene near the end of the second episode where during a fight they elaborate more on Lisesharte's backstory where they show her in a particular position while I guy rips off the lower part of her uniform. Uh? Another fanservice scene that I did not enjoy was when some of the characters invited Lux into a room where they dressed up as maids for him.
Overall: 3/10
Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle is your standard generic battle academy harem anime that uses concepts and ideas from other battle-harem shows without bringing in any fresh new ideas leaving it as an utterly forgettable anime. It's like watching a mix of Infinite Stratos and Asterisk War.
Tl;dr: It's a massive cliché storm. Please, just go watch something better.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a fantastic example of how you do a parody anime.
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo (usually shortened as KonoSuba) is a light novel series by Natsume Akatsuki that parodies the "trapped in another world" type of stories you're probably well familiarized with such as Sword Art Online and No Game No Life. his party are absolutely incompetent at what they specialize in; and it's hilarious.
Story: 7/10
Kazuma Satou a high school NEET dies in an accident (the circumstances behind it are hilarious) and is brought to the afterlife and is given a choice by a goddess by the name of Aqua: go to heaven, or get sent to a another world to defeat the Demon King. Naturally as a gamer he ends up choosing the choice to be reborn in a fantasy world and somehow ends up dragging Aqua along with him. Now he must live in this new world along with Aqua, form a party and go on adventures with the end goal of defeating the Demon King.
There isn't too much of a story after that and the setting isn't anything new, but hey; it works.
Art: 7/10
The art has much to be desired. However, Studio Deen's art and animation surprisingly fit this type of show surprisingly well! In my opinion it greatly adds to the humour of the story as it goes well with the slapstick style of humour the show relies on. The character designs look great and are very appealing, especially Megumin's!
Sound: 8/10
The opening and ending songs are great and fit the mood of the show well. At first I had problems with Kazuma's voice but as the show progressed I got used to it and now think it fits him absolutely wonderful because of how often he is a deadpan snarker! The other voices fit the other characters well, Darkness and Megumin's voice actors stand out to me because their antics are what elicits a laugh from me the most.
Character: 9/10
Probably my favourite aspect of KonoSuba, although I won't go into too much details on it because I find it more fun to find out on your own how actually messed up each member of Kazuma's party is.
We of course have Kazuma Satou a NEET who is reborn into a fantasy world and chooses the Adventurer class. This guy plays the straight man to his party's antics and is one of better MC's I have ever seen for straying away from what you'd expect out of the main character in an fantasy world.
Aqua is a goddess who despite actually acting high and mighty is actually rather stupid and becomes reliant on Kazuma more than she admits when they are transported to another world. She chooses the Arch Priest class and often gets on Kazuma's nerves.
Megumin is a chuunibyou like Arch Wizard who specializes in only Explosion magic.
Darkness is a masochistic Crusader who enjoys tanking all the damage for the team.
These characters and their antics will make you laugh; guaranteed.
Enjoyment: 9/10
It's very refreshing! This show absolutely love throwing RPG tropes and cliches at you and then totally destroying them. This show is THE comedy of the Winter 2016 season because every episode is bound to get some laughs out of you one way or another.
I can't wait for season 2!
Overall: 8/10
Ever wonder what SAO would be like if Kirito wasn't an OP badass and instead was a deadpan snarker while everyone around around him is hilariously incompetent at what they specialize? Watch this show. This is not your average "trapped in another world" anime based on a light novel. This is a parody of how our MC's like Kirito will usually become a competent adventurer, gain the affection of many women and accomplish his mission successfully.
tl;dr: KonoSuba is a fantastic parody of "trapped in another world" and fantasy RPG stories in general. The humour is great and the characters are very likeable and hilarious. KonoSuba will hilariously break many of the standard tropes you will come to expect out most Fantasy anime out there.

Date A Live: Mayuri Judgment is to say the least... average.
A common problem I see when it comes to these kind of movies is that the movie original character isn't developed very well and that's exactly the problem with our movie's character: Mayuri.
Story: 5/10
I don't really want to go into too much detail so I can refrain from posting spoilers but it's basically this:

Mayuri's character was honestly handled very badly and the ending was predictable and felt forced. If you want us to feel bad for a character you have to give that character some actual screen time and dialogue which this movie did not do.
Art: 8/10
I really like Mayuri's character design. There's not much I can say regarding the art and animation because there's not much to really say about it other than it's good; much better than what we got out of season 2.
Sound: 7/10
There's a lot of reused music from the original series but that honestly doesn't bother me too much. Overall the music was pretty nice and I have no complaints regarding it.
Character: 5/10
OH BOY. This movie needs to get it's shit together regarding its characters.
While I enjoyed how each of the spirits got ample screen time by each going on dates with Shidou they decided to neglect giving screen time to the one spirit that should matter: Mayuri. She spends more than half the movie randomly stalking Shidou and doesn't get any spoken lines until near the end to the point she feels like a flat character.
Oh, did you guys want some Kurumi screen time in this movie? She's here and she does absolutely nothing. She just casually observes everything that's going on and that's it other than this one scene where she speaks to Shidou, although it has no importance to plot and it's very brief.
Enjoyment: 6/10
For the most part I enjoyed this movie. It's Date A Live so I wasn't really expecting much but I at least expected to enjoy it which I very much did.
Overall: 5/10
Despite the movie being called "Date A Live: Mayuri Judgment" the titular character Mayuri isn't that apparently important to plot apparently since they decided to give all the movie's screen time to all the other spirits.
So, should you watch this movie? If your Date A Live fan then yes, but if you hate Date A Live or found it mediocre then you might as well not bother with this movie.

Hello fellow masochists and welcome to JK Meshi, an anime that makes absolutely no sense! This anime is so absolutely garbage that I think this is the worst anime to come out of this season's anime lineup.
JK Meshi is an anime with almost no existent story, bland forgettable characters and poor art/animation that a 10-year old can do better with his eyes closed. Give me 5 minutes and I can write a much better story than the one of JK Meshi! Seriously, every episode is either random banter on food or history lessons.
Stay as far away as can from this anime. You will be bored

to the death just by watching 1 episode of this crap.

Monster Strike; an anime based on the mobile game of the same name with each episode lasting 8 minutes. Now then, let's get into it!
Story: 4/10
Middle school student Ren Homura returns to his hometown of Kaminohara where he used to live during his childhood. However he seems to not remember much of his life there unlike his mother and little sister. The day he moves he accidentally breaks his cellphone, after getting it repaired he finds a strange application called "Monster Strike" installed in it. This leads to a series of events where Ren and his friends must solve the mystery of his missing memories

and the problems arising in the town.
It is mentioned by Ren several times that finding his missing memories is the focus of the show. However it is hardly mentioned at all and rarely seems to have that much of an impact on the overall plot which is rather annoying. I wish the anime actually focused on one thing rather than juggling multiple things such as saving the town from attacks, finding his missing memories and forming a Monster Strike team at the same time. Finding his missing memories seems so important during the earlier episodes but quickly gets sidelined to focus on other things.
Art & Animation: 5/10
The art isn't all that great; I mean what is up with their faces? This is more evident in the later episodes with the human characters' faces looking so lifeless. Furthermore they pretty much never blink at all which unnerves me.
Sound: 6/10
There is no opening theme but there is an ending theme; it's a cover of Queen's "We Will Rock You" by Gloria which is pretty good. The new one that starts at episode 13 however... What the heck did I just listen to?
The voice acting itself seems fine with Ren and Oragon being noteworthy.
Character: 3/10
Ren Homura is a middle school student returning to his hometown but doesn't seem to remember his past life there. He seems to have an alter-ego that is an ace at playing Monster Strike.
Oragon is a strange monster summoned from Ren's phone after Monster Strike is installed.
Aoi Mizusawa is Ren's classmate and aims to make a successful Monster Strike team with Ren.
Akira Kagetsuki is another one of Ren's classmates and used to be in a Monster Strike team with Aoi. He seems to be a perfectionist and doesn't see Ren as a good player.
Minami Wakaba is an airhead who also used to be in a team with Akira and Aoi.
Honestly these characters aren't very interesting. We hardly know anything about them at this point making it hard to really talk about and describe them.
Enjoyment: 4/10
Action scenes are rather slow paced and boring while the humour can miss the mark at times. They like breaking the fourth wall at times which as I said before it's "hit or miss". It's hard to take this anime very seriously.
I think one of the biggest complaints I have with the action scenes are the "bump combos". Our main characters can seemingly pull off some of these out of their asses because of plot convenience.
Overall: 4/10
Obviously Monster Strike is aimed at kids and made to advertise the mobile game so I'll cut it some slack with my scoring but as an anime this is pretty lackluster so if you're looking for any short episode anime to watch I don't particularly recommend this to you. If you are familiar with the mobile game (I am not) then perhaps this might be worth looking into.

Mars of Destruction is the perfect epitome of shit. In fact they should pay you to watch this crap because I lost 19 minutes of my life watching this that I will never get back. 10 minutes in to this and I already wanted to punch a hole through my computer screen because those 19 minutes felt like hours.
To those of you that find some anime like SAO shit and/or it being the worst thing they've ever seen should reconsider the score they gave it after finishing this. Mars of Destruction should be used as a baseline when scoring bad anime because you haven't watched

Just go read the synopsis. Done. You now understand the ENTIRE plot that the anime spent 19 minutes trying to tell you! Now you can say that you've watched this!
==Art==
Everything looks like crap from the art to the animation. The year of 2005 gave us anime such as Samurai Champloo, Shakugan no Shana and then we get Mars of Destruction. So they really have no excuse to give us this crap animation quality.
==Sound==
The voice acting is complete garbage. As for the soundtrack, there is no opening or ending but there is some Beethoven! Moonlight Sonata to be exact! You know they're idiots when they decide to play classical music during a freaking fight scene!
==Characters==
All the girls look the same just with different hair colours. They don't have any personality at all and I don't even remember their names if they even had names! As for Takeru... wait, who is Takeru? He is the main character, a bland forgettable character who spends a majority of his screen time being tossed around! I think the character I liked the most was the girl who got her head blown off a few minutes into the anime because that was the only enjoyable scene for me.

Heck no, I did not enjoy this at all! This can't be considered a finished product because of how bad EVERYTHING was. This anime makes me wonder if anyone who worked on this were sane at all because a middle schooler can write a more appealing story than this.

If you've read my review and watched Mars of Destruction I commend you. Now that you've done both of those two things consider what I wrote above: Now that you've seen and experienced absolute shit you should reconsider what you ever thought was shit before.

"What do you think happened to the first person who ever voiced a different opinion?" - a quote from Charlotte I found to be quite fitting.
Being a fan of Angel Beats! I was excited to hear that Jun Maeda was creating another anime original that was described as the spiritual successor to Angel Beats! I was even more happy to hear that Jun Maeda planned on fixing all the problems that plagued Angel Beats! with Charlotte.
After finishing Charlotte all I can say is their attempt at fixing Angel Beats! problems just brought a whole bunch of new problems to Charlotte. Despite my rating for Charlotte

and its problems, I still actually thoroughly enjoyed Charlotte, at least for a majority of the episodes.
---Spoilers Below---
Here's a list of pros I found:
-Good concept. The idea of a world with some teens developing unique super powers really intrigued me.
-Good soundtrack. I especially like the ED: Yake Ochinai Tsubasa
-Good art and animation. As expected of P.A. Works.
-Interesting two main characters introduced at the start. (Yuu and Nao)
Cons:
-Bland side characters. They get almost no development whatsoever.
-Yuu's character development is a mess.
-Rushed pacing. One minute everyone is playing cards, the next minute someone has been kidnapped.
-The story feels like a jumble of ideas that they tried cramming into 13 episodes.
-Deus ex Machina ending. How did they find a single lone person in China? It's never explained.
-Running jokes that are almost never funny.
-The characters have some idiotic moments just to get the plot moving. Let's approach some highly prepared terrorists that have hostages with hardly any plan at all!
-Many things left unexplained. Ever wondered why Nao is bullied? You have to read the freaking MANGA to get a vague explanation on it: http://i.imgur.com/yzNPJid.png
-Random unexplained events appearing to move the plot forward. Terrorist appearing without any foreshadowing at all?
To expand on some of the above. Yusa and Takajou have almost no importance to the story at all, we hardly learn anything about them and they don't make any large lasting impact on the story other than continuing to be friends with Yuu after everything.
This is especially obvious with Takajou since he's pretty much there as Yuu's friend and comic relief with no actual development at all.
Speaking of character development Yuu's personality is... confusing. Despite showing signs of being quite cunning and described and introduced as a narcissist he never really shows these traits after the first episode and acts like a generic MC with a bit of snark. The only defining trait I found that sticks with him throughout the whole series is... having a sister complex.

If you are a fan of the Inazuma Eleven series you may or may not enjoy this.
This "movie" was very hyped up from before it's release as it had fans of the series vote on who they wanted to be members of the team Inazuma Best Eleven and their opponent Inazuma Battle Eleven.
Considering the actual match starts about 30 minutes into the movie (more than half of it) there isn't really any point in watching the first 30 minutes since it pretty much has no significance to it.
The actual match itself seems... lacking. I found nothing special or new about it that I could not

find from the TV series, the animation even looks the same which is odd considering the previous movies had noticeably better animation.
For a movie celebrating the series 5th anniversary this movie was pretty sloppily put together and it does not represent the series very well.
