Well I'm getting down to watch Xam'd soon, so I hope I'll be able to see what all the raving is about.

Good idea to treat both series as one, since they're both adaptations of the same source. I presume the anime staff arranged the secondary character development after the main character's, instead of having it parallel?

C.A. back at AS forums is going for it as well, and I'm quite confident he'll bring back the photos, maybe videos even! Even though photography is not allowed during the concerts. I'll do the same if I get the chance. =3

Oh wow, I didn't know that for the Rahxephon movie. This one in the E7 film is my fault, since the script directly mentioned Peter Pan. Probably too disconnected with my inner child and by extension those fairy tales. Also, does that mean we're gonna get a Xam'd film with another fairy tale retelling based on this trend? =3

As for the score, I thought it was less noticeable in the film. The music only screamed out at me when they reverted to the series score for the action scene near the end. But being more atmospheric definitely isn't bad either.

The movie only featured their customised mecha getting shot up I think. I was like "That's it!?" and then the thought kind of stayed in me through to the end. T_T

To tell the truth I'm not using that list as a Top 5. Since people tend to look at that when they visit a profile page, I thought I'd put some underexposed stuff up there. I kind of consider all my favourites equal (including all the ones I manually linked below), as they all managed to strike a chord with me so many times.

I thought the second Natsume series slightly edges out the first, as it put the recurring supporting characters in the spotlight more, and I like this widening worldview. I'll never, ever forget the first season's ED though. It made my tears well up from the melancholy.

I'll do this right back at you:
TURN A TURN,
TURN A TURN,
TURN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~

Still a long way before the DVDs are out, we've got quite the wait.

I'd like to, but I can't stay at the convention for too long, so it depends on my luck (and scheduling).

The E7 film was not bad, but it definitely failed the expectations that were set thanks to the TV series. The storyline was also quite clunky, with long sections of telling, rather than showing. But I guess that's the baggage of having such a rich universe. And having the cast acting differently from the TV series selves kind of throws me off, especially with the series so fresh in my head. Finally the greatest crime there is: not having Charles and Ray!

All that said I maintain that it definitely wasn't a bad film by any means, aside from comparing it to its progenitor. At the very least, it succeeded in entertaining me. Having Sakakibara do a badass older Anemone was gooooooooood.

Yeah, it was really good. Now read Umi no Misaki. =P

Maybe it's just Frontier which turned me off the love triangle bit. I heard the one in the original series ends better though, so I'm optimistic. Also, Fukuyama (Basara's singing voice) coming over for a performance should up my watch priority for Macross 7.

Ottocycle | 11-06-09, 7:26 AM
I need to reword that. I meant that the love triangle is the third quintessential element, after the fighters and the singing in every series, and the one which I am not a fan of yet.

Among the few mecha crossover games I have played, Max always gets his spotlight stolen by either Hikaru or Roy, so I really look forward to some of his very own greatness.

Ottocycle | 11-06-09, 6:23 AM
I like the elements of song and sleek mecha being combined, and it's a very novel idea. Gotta say that I'm not exactly a fan of the final love triangle element though. I can see why it's there, but nothing much else.

My first contact with the franchise was Macross Plus 4 years ago, and sadly that didn't work out too well. I do plan to return to watching the show, probably as a part of me watching the franchise in chronological order starting from the original series (since I've seen Zero). Frontier and Zero and their likeability certainly contributed to this decision. =3

I heard a lot of awesome about this Maximillian character, and I certainly look forward to meeting him.

Ottocycle | 11-06-09, 3:36 AM
I'm still learning to appreciate Kanno's diverse work, so this is a journey of (overdue) discovery for me.

You lucky person you.

On another note, I hope you enjoy the StrikerS manga!

Ottocycle | 11-04-09, 10:45 PM
I'm just happy to see that the long wait has paid off in the form of a great episode. Here's to more! =3

I need to go through Bebop once at my own leisure. Kinda rushed through it back when I first watched it. And I simply cannot remember any song that popped up in it, save the OP/ED. Imagine my surprise when all these awesome insert songs start popping up on MALKeionbu.

Oh, by the way, were you exposed to anime during your childhood years? I only had Doraemon for company, heh.

Feez | 11-04-09, 10:23 PM
Yeah, I believe the StrikerS manga--Nanoha StrikerS the Comics--is completely translated. 2 volumes and a total of 15 chapters. It adds a lot of insight and expands on things they don't do much of in the anime. Also it starts off 4 years before StrikerS so it explains a lot of what happened. An interesting read all-throughout in my opinion. :)

I think Vivid is currently still in the translating process (not sure if it's finished or not in Japan), and Force just recently started in Japan, so only a few chapters have been TL'd for that.

DragoZERO | 11-04-09, 8:28 PM
Well, if you want to read you'd make time so yeah. Its fine, I just hope that SD Gundam was something you watched a while ago and just added to your list.. there are better things to spend your time on than that, lol.

Ottocycle | 11-03-09, 5:05 PM
Good job rubbing in what I only deserve. XD

Anyway, the new Bakemonogatari episode just reminded me why I gave it a 10. Great stuff.

Ottocycle | 11-03-09, 5:29 AM
I only just realised Sawano is doing Unicorn's music today after the trailer popped up. Awesome news, and at the same time I fail so hard, lol.

Feez | 11-02-09, 9:51 AM
As my current character favorites indicate, my favorite character of the franchise is Nanoha herself. Got to love the White Devil :3 Other favorites would be Signum, Vita, and Fate, though I think Signum had a severe lack of screen time in StrikerS, which saddened me, since she's a character I really like. Vita staying as an eternal loli is something I'm not too fond of either. Subaru was pretty cool and definitely my favorite of the StrikerS originals, but something about her just didn't strike home with me. Got to love the GGG references, though. By the way, have you read the StrikerS manga? The final chapter battle between Nanoha and Signum was high levels of awesome.

I probably should watch Escaflowne eventually. I have the OST and it's pretty good, as expected of Yoko Kanno.

Feez | 11-01-09, 6:21 PM
Yeah, well honestly I can see why people talk bad about it, but as a mecha fan, it was my favorite, though A's is easily the better executed show.

And thanks! Lol, I have a lot more chibi profile images to come, so stay tuned!~
