I once was told that my tastes in reading are eclectic, although I don't read manga (I like my comic books in color, so don't bother looking at the manga list). Didn't know if I should be insulted or proud. I like to think that my tastes in anime are pretty much the same. Although I do notice that I tend to lean to the comedic side for the most part. Probably because I grew up in the LoonyTunes rather than the Transformers and Robotech era. I still enjoy the occasional mecha-based anime, just not for a regular diet.
One thing I should mention about my list of anime. If an anime is on that list, I have a copy of it somewhere. Be it electronic or physical, VHS or DVD, retail or fan-sub, I have a copy. This means that if I watched it on a rented DVD or streamed on the 'Net and don't have a copy to view multiple times, it's not on my list. I may not be able to lay my hands on it right away, but I do have a copy, somewhere. And if you'll give me a few weeks, I might even be able to find that copy. It's in one of those boxes over there somewhere. Or maybe over there?
RATING SYSTEM:
I did some serious digging and finally found the rating guideline that I normally try to use. Basically what it boils down to is that both the anime and it's creator should be capable of walking on water before you gave it a 10. So an anime has to be really, really good before I grade it much higher than a 7 or 8. If you are interested, it goes as follows:
Regardless of how many levels you decide to use in your vote, there are in the end still only 10 main levels. To make a proper vote there are 3 easy rules you should follow:
* First, try to use 3, 5, 7 and 9 in the beginning; the most used one is 7.
* Second, the use of 1, 2 and 10 is very rare.
* Third, don't think of 10 as perfect and 1 as worst possible since those do not exist.
Basically 0 and 11 represent those values and as those don't exist you can't vote for them.
10 - Sugoi
This anime is something really big; it changed your mind, gave you a whole new perspective on life and broadened your horizons. If this sounds unfamiliar to you then you have yet to watch a truly sugoi anime. This grade is reserved only for those animes you'll never ever forget.
9 - Great
This anime is absolutely great, you were very impressed by it. Everyone should watch it, not only anime fans because everyone will enjoy it as this is the kind of anime that creates anime fans. Everything in the anime is on a very high level. Use this for only the best animes you've watched.
8 - Very good
This anime is better than good, there are a few moments you were very impressed by it and every anime fan should watch it. However, it is still not great as it still has a few points to improve.
7 - Good
This anime is good, the animation and sound is quite good and it has an original story and different characters as well. You can recommend it to the average anime fan; use this for animes you like.
6 - Fine
This anime is better than decent but still not good, there are a few moments you enjoy although you can't really recommend it to others.
5 - Decent
This anime is neither good nor bad. People can watch it whenever they are bored or when they've run out of other anime to watch.
4 - Bad
This anime is just plain bad. It has nothing to recommend, it is just plain boring. While there are worse animes it's still too bad to recommend to others.
3 - Very Bad
This is a very bad anime although still anime. There's nothing appealing about it. You cannot recommend it to anyone, not even die hard anime fans of this specific genre. If you think an anime is one of the worst ever vote a 3.
2 - Hopeless
You cannot say anything good at all about this one. Animation, sound, story, everything was really bad.
1 - Unwatchable
You were not even able to watch it; it was probably the worst thing you have ever watched. This grade is reserved only for the worst cartoons. There is probably nothing as bad as this on the planet. Use this only if you are absolutely certain.
All-time favorite animes. While I like a lot of anime, it seems like there are a few favorites that I keep coming back to watch over and over.
#1 -
The very first anime I ever intentionally sat down and watched, back when the Sci-Fi Channel was doing anime on Saturday morning, was the movie "Tenchi Muyo in Love". I keep going back and watching it for the soundtrack and the story. It was the one that introduced me to more than just "Transformers" and "Robotech". It used fully developed characters and in order to find out more about those characters, I had to rent/buy the series. And you know what they say about pushers and your first chance at an addictive drug. "That first one is cheap/free, then it gets really expensive."
#2 -
Ah, My Goddess - how can you go wrong with a beautiful goddess that wants to grant you a wish?
#3 -
Read Or Die - both the series and OAV since it pretty much sums up my philosophy of life. Read, or die. I have more books than some libraries I know about. And in western SD, there are some small libraries. Although, I have to admit that Yomiko has me beat by a long, long shot.

Hehe, I have most anime on my PTW already on my HD also. Some I simply can't find anywhere though >< so they just linger on my PTW forever. It's so tough to choose one to watch tho xD and I really don't want to watch too many at the same time (prolly seems like I made that mistake now... but I'm coping so far xD')
And here is a picture of a dragon for you for your time.
I loved Ender's Game. It's my favorite book, and I've read it so many times xD. Last that I know about the movie is they were switching directors.
Nope I'm not a 21 yo female, you're in luck =D I'm 22 ^^
I've never even heard of FLAG until a few days ago. I can put it on my plan-to-watch list, but no idea when I'd get around to it since I have so much up there already. Any sequal/ova/special/etc related to an anime that I have on my plan-to-watch I'd prolly watch soon after I watch the series since it'll still be fresh ^^ so Black Lagoon: Second Barrage is probably something I'd watch sooner. When I get around to watching Black Lagoon. First gonna finish up Tears to Tiara tho ^^
Good to hear your doing better. Eiii we sure have entered the flu season. I've been floored for a few days also >_<
Anne McCaffrey such a great author. Pern's def a great series. If that one's not enuff to get you hooked on dragons you're a lost cause. Harper Hall is a good read also. Can't even remember how many times I've read em.
Apparently we can expect a new series in 2010. Had hoped to read more bout dragons, but instead it's apparently gonna have telepathic cats >_>
Ahh you read Anne McCaffrey as well? Awesome!!! I have some of her books, they are a really good read =). First read a short story from her that was in one of our High School Literature books xD and was hooked ever since.
(I picked up your interest in Anne McCaffrey from TwoSox's comments ^^)
