Every once in a while we are able to find that diamond in the rough. That one anime that you never expect to impress you that ends up being amazing. The anime that makes you cherish the genre and make you reflect on your actions. That however, is not the case with this anime. No, it is the exact opposite.

The Opening Theme is more exciting than the actual Anime
________________________________________
Story: The story is completely unoriginal and the plot... well there really isn't a plot. The main character is someone who has faced a tragedy and has gone into generic anime depression (the unrealistic type of
...
depression that itou fell into in school days when no girl wanted to have sex with him any more) is suddenly forced to fight for survival with a poorly written yandere. The eventual climax of the story feels botched and miss represented, and the final 2 episodes will ultimate go down as one of the worst endings I've ever seen. One thing I've realized is that good anime don't leave their endings open ended. There may be some questions that still need to be answered, but the writers are practically begging to producers to give them more money to fund a sequel.
For the love of god, no thank you.
As I mentioned, we have a generic main character with a "tragic" back story involving suicide. The problem is the suicide and the effects of the suicide are not even explored, we are just told that he is depressed and needs someone to help him. There have been anime that have been exceptional when it comes to exploring the theme of depression and suicide (A Silent Voice comes to mind as done Serial Experiments Lain), and there have been garbage anime that have done a decent job with it in the past when I have least expected it (Charlotte is the best example of a bad anime that somehow handled depression accurately), 11eyes just ignores that. Instead they turn this premise into a generic action anime with underwhelming fights, a weak climax, and a fake out ending
Characters: I don't want to spend to much time on the characters because I feel like I would be insulting the producers if I did so. Its clear that the goal was to make everyone one dimensional and completely unmemorable. The main character is more bland than Otonashi and the supporting characters are archetypes you would expect to see in an anime with this low of a score.
Animation & Sound: The animation is this shows saving grace. While it wasn't anything special, it was pleasant to look at and helped me breeze through the series so I could get it behind me. The Opening Theme is amazing and was something that I could listen to over and over again.
Enjoyment & Impact: Honestly I should have given this anime up. But by the time I was ready to throw this anime away, I was on episode 7 and figured "why not?" For me it did require a little dedication to get through, which is incredibly bad for a moe anime. The impact is there, but not in the way that the producers had hoped. This anime annoyed me more than anything, and that is the worst kind of feeling an anime can give you.

With that all being said, here is how 11eyes stands in my scoring system.
Plot, Sequence, and Flow: 0.5/3
Characters and their development: 0.2/2
Impact and Enjoyment: 0.4/2
Visual Effects and Audio Effect: 1/2
Memorability: 0/1
Overall Score: 2.1/10
I have finished around 200 anime, and 11eyes currently holds a spot in my bottom 10.

In almost all forms of media, spinoffs, sequels, and prequels all have one thing in common. They are a crap shoot. Most of the time these spinoffs suck. Fortunately in anime, that is not always the case. In fact there are several times where I find myself enjoy the sequel/ prequel better than the original. However this anime is true rarity, in which the prequel just about outdoes the original in virtually every aspect. This review focuses solely on the first season of fate/zero. I'll write a separate review for season 2.

O.K. here is the actual review with my IADb rating system:
Story: Fate
...
Zero takes place ten years before the events of Fate/stay night, and Chronicles the 4th Holy Grail War. The whole grail war consists of seven teams, with each team consisting of a master and a servant. These servants are heroic spirits that fight each other to the death, with the last servant standing winning the power for him and his master to make any type of wish on the holy grail. After failing to win the grail three times in a row, The Einzbern family have elected to bring the hated magus murderer, Kiritsugu Emiya (who is also the father of the main protagonist in Fate/ Stay Night), into their ranks and compete for the grail. When Emiya ultimately summons Saber as his servant, the two form one of the most unique relationships that I have ever seen. One of the primary things you watched fate/ stay night for was the battles, and while the battles are great here, it is the unforgettable dialogue that drives the anime home.
The Battles: While the dialogue is amazing, fate zero is part of the fate franchise, and hence the battles are a must see. What makes these fights so interesting though is the dialogue that goes on in them. Unlike fate/ stay night, where to many extents you were presented with a typical shounen fight, you get so much more here. You really do learn the back story of every combat tent and are forced to pick sides.
The Characters: There are over 7000 animes on this website. I have seen almost 500 of them and will be reviewing all of them this year. Out of those 500 animes, the cast in this anime ranks 4th, with the only 3 having a better cast being Steins Gate, rainbow nisha rokubou no shichinin, and full metal alchemist brotherhood. Virtually every master and every servant here plays its part perfectly. You have rider, the fan favorite who is just epic. (yes i just said "epic"). You have caster, the child murdering servant who couldn't give two sh*ts about the grail war. Than there is saber, one of the greatest female characters of all time. Archer is a great villain, but slightly over powered. Lancer proved himself to be a formidable opponent for Saber.
Art: When i review the 2nd season this section will pretty much be a carbon copy. Fate/ Zero quite simply has the best animation that I have ever scene. It is just mind blowing how beautiful and life like everything looks. Ufotable knows how to produce a beautiful anime.
Sound: All of the voice actors sound their age. All of the background music is perfectly used. The opening is great and the ending is one of the best in anime.
Enjoyment: While the first episode is a complete info dump, and while there is technically no climax to this season as the finale is a regular episode that ends with "to be continued in April," every other episode in this series left me baffled with amazement. Yes there are some flaws, and yes I can safely say that in the three month span between season1 and season 2, those flaws are seemingly eliminated, Fate/ Zero Season one is definitely an anime to watch.

O.K. here is the actual review with my IADb rating system:
Story and Characters: Elfen Lied is a Psychological horror that is unique and mystifying in its own way. The core of this anime focuses on the relationships between humans and Diclonii.Dicolnii are similar to humans in build but are also distinguishable by two horns on their heads and "vectors", transparent telekinetically controlled arms that have the power to manipulate and cut objects
...
within their reach. These objects include but are not limited too: arms, legs, heads, fingers, eyeballs, weapons, anything else that destroy a human. The two main characters are Lucy Kohta. Lucy, a Diclonii who escaped from research captivity and is ultimately trying to find her place in this world. However, her place in this world was marked a long time ago due to her violent past. This past is explained at various times in the anime at a very good paced. It doesn't seemed force fed and it doesn't take up too much screen time. It works. Kohta however, is your generic male character. The one good thing about him though is that there aren't many bad things about him . He isn't boring, he just doesn't stand out. He knows how to stand his ground. The anime features three more main characters: Yuka, Nana, and Mayu. Yuka, Kohta's cousin who is head over heals in love with him, serves to be the mother of the house. Too many extents she is generic and I found her to be rather annoying, especially in comparison to Mayu, a homeless girl who witnessed Lucy's rampage in an eartly episode, that serves to be a very enjoyable character. Nana proves to be very dynamic and I loved watching her on screen. Bando and Kurama, the anime's main villains, severed their roles perfectly and delivered great foil to each other. Every exchange of dialogue between the two was pure art.
Art: The setting design is beautiful. Backgrounds, powers, blood, gore; all animated perfectly. Character designs, still very good. Not perfect but they all feature ears, noses, and lips, which is more than some anime produced in 2014. Easily one of the most beautiful animes of 2004 to say the least.
Sound: The soundtrack for this anime is great... the first time you hear it. It will get a little tedious eventually. Could have used a couple more songs. The opening remains as one of the most memorable, and the ending theme was good. The voice actors sound their age though, which is always a key.
Enjoyment: This is always a very hard category to digest, as it varies by episode. Most episodes left me very satisfied, and I had the lust to watch the next episode due to a cliffhanger. While there was no specific episode that stood out, there were a few that made me say, "woahh. did that just happen?"
The IADb official scoring:
Plot, Sequence, Flow: 2.4/3 Points
Overall Characters: 1.5/2 Points
Visual Effects: 1.5/2 Points
Soundtrack: 0.5/1 Point
Enjoyment/ Lust to watch the next episode: 1.6/2 Point

Ahh, Shōnen. Shōnen Shōnen Shōnen. Will everyone please give it a break and please focus on what we came here to read, a pure anime review. When I look at the reviews for this anime, only one thing can come to my mind, is this a Shōnen? Personally I couldn't care less, what I do care about is that this is a really enjoyable anime. So let me begin this journey into a story that eats the Soul by saying, Fairy Blue.

A little too dramatic ehh?
___________________________________________
O.K. here is the actual review with my IADb rating system:
Story: Soul Eater centers around the relationship between a weapon
...
meister and (at least one) weapon that can transform into a human. This relationship is formed with the ultimate goal of transforming the latter into a death scythe and fit for use by the Shinigami. While the story originally appears to be no more than a simple, enjoyable, quest by three teams who attempt to complete this feat, the story quickly evolves into something much more. Even chronicling two separate wars and producing several more relationships.
The Battles: Soul Eater is advertised as a combat anime, meaning that the battles contribute to at least a third of the story. These battles have several positives but a couple of key negatives that do lower the rating a slight bit. The positive part is that the battles are well written and rarely get boring, aka the pace is great. However, this anime to many extents features the "good wins after severely losing," belief, which means that a lot of the battles are protracted and feature the protagonists losing, only to suddenly gain some sort of excess hope and beating the living crap out of their opponents.
The Characters: Very few anime produce this type of array of characters. You have seven main protagonists, two main antagonist, and whole team of supporting characters. As good as the protagonists are, it is the antagonists that truly take command of the show. My favorite charter in the show, by far might I say, is Medusa. I would even go on a limb and call her one of the best female villains of 2008.
Art: A very different type of artwork. This all depends on taste. If you like abstract art then this is for you, if you are looking for the fourth generation (2013/2014) HD anime visuals, then you wont view the artwork for this anime favorably
Sound: The soundtrack for this aime is good, it is nothing notable, but nothing bad. Its good. To be honest it is the weakest part of the anime. All of the voice actors sound close to their age which is a plus though.
The openings and Endings are amazing though. Easily contains some of the best openings and endings in anime.
Enjoyment: This is always a very hard category to digest, as it varies by episode. Most episodes left me very satisfied, however it lacked the desperate feeling to watch the next episode. Don't get me wrong, I gladly watched it, but their were no cliffhangers and several episodes ended with five minute extended dialogues.
