commercials on TV can tell you its holiday season usually ?
i don't like family gatherings because i don't really get along with most of my family (i still love them there just weird to hold a conversation with )they worry about me too much cause i don't talk a-lot like many people in my family so it turns into an awkward mess but they give me cake =D which is always an up side.
& that's awful i hope they fix your heating D=

@Good at/good in:
To be good at and to be good in are often interchangeable, and there is no easy rule to follow. In simple statements, like the ones you have quoted, the standard form appears to be good at as in "I'm not very good at football ".

However, in this following sentence, to be good in seems more likely than to be good at, i.e:
"He was the best in the class in French, but in mathematics and chemistry he was not so good."

This is perhaps because with other expressions or verbs denoting assessment or ranking, the preposition in would be required, thus:
" In pharmacology she obtained/scored/gained/attained the highest marks."

So how "In" was used for classes in general and "at" was used for a certain specific thing?

@And: That depends on what you mean by "formal". For example, in goverment documents that lists the country cetizens' rights for example, they don't care about the length of the sentence at all. Formal bussunies doscuments on the other hand, like those for companys and what not, like to shorten as much as possible.

@Grudge: Hehe, I know that, I just love messing with ya :P But no, I don't have any grudges against the French, even though one would think so considering the events of WWII. I'm an open minded person though, and I don't let things that happened in the past bother me too much.

@Google: Well...that's not wrong either. All of them ARE correct, I don'tsee where the problem is. They're all just different expressions for the same thing, like saying "dude" or "man" or "pal"....they all mean the same thing, but different culters use different expressions.

@Halloween: I dressed up as a Witch, and got lots of candy! =D

@At the end/in the end:

AT the end of the journey / film / book / street / runway etc.
When you say 'at' you are thinking of a point in time, or a specific place.

IN the end we decided to stay at home.
IN the end the jury found him not guilty
IN the end the staff managed to get a pay rise

If you use 'in' you are thinking of the end of a process, or an argument or a negotiation, rather than a point in time or a particular place

---------------

Actually the difference between pain and hurt is very simple. Pain is a noun, while hurt is a verb. You can't say "My legs pains" but you can say "my legs hurts". You can't say "There's a hurt in my leg" but you can say "There's a pain in my leg".

Get the picture?

Katsuri | Yesterday, 2:31 AM
"Be good" in itself means to be virtious, and do the right thing etc. "Be good in" on the other hand means to be able to do something in a a good way, or to be an expert in that something.
At least, that's what I get from you....you shoudl give me an examble to make sure.

@Wicked: "And" CAN be used as the beginning os a sentence, grammatically speaking. There's nothing wrong with it as far as I know. The reason some people may begin a new sentence with "And" is because the previous was too long already and can't be any longer with the addition of "and", or it wouldn't look very appealing to read.

A "grunge"?

@Ache: BTW I got the answer from Google. You go ahead and ask me before searching Google throughly, and that's why you'll never learn. :P

that seems like a better way to celebrate it than we do here,sounds like thay put more thought into it while here its so commercialized and we practically forgot the meaning of the holiday, though i don't like family gatherings either there so awkward and unnecessary :P
i was told the regular flu vaccine wouldn't work against swine flu im not sure though but since it hast spread in your area you don't have to worry
