secret fuujin handshake!

Hey no problem at all, and thank you for the wishes (:

I saw you watched "The Banshees of Inisherin", which I'm glad you liked. I noticed you added Three Billboards to your watchlist, which is another Martin McDonagh film I really like. It's divisive on Letterboxd for some reason, but I think its a really good movie overall. I hope you like it.

Hi, I don't really care about him. I found him funny tbh. And he is thinking that "he said something bad about my favorite show, so I will attack him" or something like that. There was a thread about MiA S2 being anime of the year where I pointed out to other great shows and this kid couldn't handle it.

Ahh man thank you so much, it makes me really happy that you'd say that!! Also, it's real nice to meet ya too!

Oh man, holy moly- You have such a great list, my friend! Thank you so much for the friend request, I really appreciate the thought! =D

Everything I've heard about EEAAO leads me to believe I won't really like it much. I heard its basically a Marvel movie with reddit philosophy and "lol random" humor. I also heard it's stereotypical when it comes to the family dynamic. However, I will go in with an open mind because it was #1 on LB at some point, so it has to at least be watchable right?

I probably won't get to seasonal anime since there's SO MUCH I have to get to. There's plenty of older anime I want to watch, hundreds of films I want to watch, dozens of manga I want to read, and since it's summer my friends want to do summer things that will take up a lot of time (like the beach, amusement parks, etc.). I also struggle just a bit when it comes to watching one episode per week, I quickly lose interest over a few days of not watching something, even if I was enjoying it. That's why I usually wait until it's out and see the reception before I decide if I want to check it out or not.

I'm sorry for the late reply, but I'm even more sorry I completely ignored your comment on Love Exposure lol. It is absolutely wild but in the best way possible. It's full of personality with great characters and thoughtful commentary. Might not want to watch that with the family though, it's very bawdy.

I'm glad you gave Shinsekai Yori a shot and enjoyed it. The series is very ambiguous and leaves a lot of doors open for the viewer to theorize about, which definitely isn't for everyone. I think it is very well structured and thought out with great commentary for today, even if the story is centered around a society we couldn't possibly fathom. Glad you liked Squealer he's awesome.

Speaking of Ikuhara, I'm glad you added Starlight Revue to your watchlist. I was going to recommend it to you since it was basically if Penguindrum and Utena had a baby lol

Also I watched Chungking and LOVED it! Thanks for the rec (:

Ent tá, desculpa a afirmação estranha kkkkk.

I'm glad you're finding it interesting so far, especially through the first arc. The first third of the show is similar to Evangelion, which is mostly foreshadowing and worldbuilding, and I know that can be boring for a first time watcher. It's much more rewarding to pick up on those foreshadowed moments when they happen, not when they're set up. I went into it completely blind and was surprised to how good it was. Some of the finer details are a little foggy since I watched it a while ago, but it is on my re-watch list.

You watched Yi Yi with your parents, right? Then I'm sure if you tell them its the same director they would be on board lol. It is definitely a different movie however, even if it is presented with the same understated, backseat approach Yang usually takes. A Brighter Summer Day is basically if a boy failed to form an identity and didn't become a man, at the fault of himself and of his environment. Edward Yang films usually have the cityscapes and characters be in sync with one another, meaning when characters change, the city changes, and vice versa; I feel that is the most present in A Brighter Summer Day. Hope you like it (:

The FLCL sequels sucked lol. Don't even bother with Progressive, it had such low energy (FLCL and low energy should never be in the same sentence). You could check out Alternative, which is definitely better, but still not good. They both desperately try to reach the quality of the original by stealing its ideas and iconography. Also the music was WAY worse, even if it was still the Pillows ):

Your re-watches make sense. I was thinking about re-watching Kare Kano again since I listened to its ED recently and got a huge wave of nostalgia lol. Hope you have a good time watching them (: (and I'll try my best to get to windy tales soon)

I saw that you gave Oasis 5 stars and was so happy lol especially for giving his films another chance after you didn't care for Burning. Oasis is my second favorite film from him, and the rest of his filmography is pretty even in terms of quality (imo). As for movies I have watched recently, I finished Lee Chang-dong's filmography, and definitely solidified himself as one of my favorite directors. I've been watching a bunch of Edward Yang films, and he's probably my new all time favorite director lmao. Yi Yi was amazing, and it made me want to re-watch A Brighter Summer Day, which I ended up loving even more. I saw two classics, Schindler's List and Seven Samurai that were both great and deserving of their praise. Kwaidan, Koyaanisqatsi, and Love Exposure were great as well. After I'm wrapped up with Edward Yang, I'll be moving to Andrei Tarkovsky, which I have seen two films from, and excited to see more.

I'm really glad you liked it. You know a cast is good when you can't imagine them being voiced by anyone else lol. Everything visually about Penguindrum was really aesthetic, which I loved for sure. I also favor re-watches, but I try to space them out so I don't become desensitized from over watching, if that makes sense. That way it feels somewhat fresh when I come back revisit them. What other shows are on your re-watch list?

I have been actively avoiding all FLCL sequels because they all look terrible and I know I will hate them lol. I will get to them relatively soon though, since I feel like I have to watch them, so pray for me.

Also I watched SoreMachi and didn't super care for it, sorry :/. For me, it was kind of like if Nichijou was made by SHAFT lol. I really liked the music and the weird shot compositions. I really loved the OP and the final episode too.

Hey DS, I hope you are doing well (:

Penguindrum has been on my radar ever since I finished Utena, and I really like it. I'm happy to see Ikuhara work with a budget as well, since Utena was on a shoestring one. The visuals are beautiful and unique, and the music is great and super catchy (Rock Over Japan has been stuck in my head for about three days). It has a silly sense of humor and I really like the offbeat symbolism to support it's strong themes. I really like the characters, but I'm curious where it's going with them since I just finished episodes 19 & 20 (and did not see that coming at all). They beat around the bush a little too much plot-wise to keep it consistently engaging for me though. The penguins, although hilarious, are usually used to confirm what the scene is trying to tell you, and I don't like that. For me, it robs that satisfaction feeling of picking up on things. I'm on the fence of a 7 or 8 right now, so we'll see how these last 4 episodes go.

Dress up Darling is pretty to look at, but its mediocre overall imo. It's a standard waifubait anime with a self insert protagonist. It is really entertaining though, and admittedly has some cute and funny moments. It also has some symbolism, but it didn't mean anything to me, I explained why in my review I wrote for it (shameless plug (:< )

Also, I re-watched episode two of FLCL, and remembering it was your favorite, it actually became one of my favorites! I love the juxtaposition with Canti in the episode. Mamimi sees him as a God, and the next scene shows Naoto's family sending him to buy groceries and porn, and calling him useless. Great way of exploring value, and its really fitting for Mamimi's character. She was obsessed with Naoto's brother, and if he got a new girlfriend when he went to America, how valuable was Mamimi to him? FLCL is so good, we honestly don't deserve it (:

Fernandooooo, demorei, mas cheguei.

Mano, o Tenshi no Tamago foi uma experiência muito diferente do que eu tô acostumado. É provavelmente o anime mais bonito e misterioso sem ser desnecessariamente complexo - como eu acho que acontece com Evangelion - que eu já vi, o único problema dele é que eu sou muito sonolento com coisas muito estáticas então eu acabei quase dormindo umas 5 vezes durante o filme kkkkkkkkkk, mas eu adorei muito, cara.
