Hunter x Hunter (2011) (Anime) add

Time to review one of the best anime ever. First off, I have to say, I liked the old HxH so much. It was a great show in many aspects. However, I think it is safe to say the 2011 version has surpassed the previous one by all means. This anime is one hell of a rollercoaster that you just can't stop watching. You will start, click next episode over and over and over again without a break. This show is just pure amazingness that anyone and everyone can enjoy. This reboot of the show is phenomenal In every sense and is a must watch ... masterpiece for all anime fans.

Character - 10/10
I want to start with the characters in this review because I truly think that the characters are some off the best in any anime. The protagonist of Hunter x Hunter 2011 is a 12 year old boy named Gon Freecs. His goal in the show is to find his dad, Ging Freecs. Now on the outside, Gon might seem like the generic shounen protagonist who always fights to save his friends, but soon into the story, we find out there is much more than that to Gon. His true nature is still arcane to us and his role in the story is superb. Next up is Killua Zoldyck, also 12 years old. Killua is part of a large family of assassins and has never really had any freedom up until he meets Gon. Killua's first friend is Gon and he wants, no matter what, to travel the world with Gon in search of Gon's dad and protect him. While Killua wants to help Gon, it is really Gon who is helping Killua and endure his family problems and he is a great character to watch grow. Leorio is the third main character at the age of 19. He is such an interesting character and its a shame he is so sidelined. Leorio had lost a friend to a treatable disease and took the hunter exam to get enough money to go to medical school. He is probably the funniest character in the show and its truly sad we don't get more of him. Last of the main characters is Kurapika. Kurapika is part of a clan called the kurta, who are famous for scarlet eyes. His clan was annihilated in order to get the kurta eyes by a group called the phantom troupe. Kurapika's goal is to seek revenge on the group that killed his clan. Watching Kurapika grow as a character and seek revenge was excellent and he remains one of my favorite characters in the series. Last, but definitely not least, are the supporting characters of Hunter x Hunter. There is so much I could say about these characters. The list goes on and on with great characters like Hisoka, Neferpitou, Meruem, etc. The list is ongoing and each supporting character/villian has such amazing growth and development in the show that you end up being amazed with all that they do. The characters in Hunter x Hunter are truly outstanding.

Story - 10/10
The story, as I said before is about Gon trying to find his dad, Ging Freecs, who is a hunter as well and Gon has never met him before. He goes through many hardships and trials to seek out his dad who is shrouded in mystery. The story starts out with the four main characters taking the hunter exam to become hunters for their own goals and dreams. Killua trying to break his families spell, Kurapika trying to avenge his clan by killing off the phantom troupe, and lastly Leorio becoming a superb doctor. After the hunter exam, the story really takes a turn for the better. Each arc that comes to pass is about our characters goals and dreams and each arc up until now improve and improve. The current arc of the Chimera Ant Arc is definitely the best one yet. Each character has to go through their own hardships and improve themselves enough to become good enough to achieve the goals they are striving for.

Art - 9/10
The art in the show is by far superior to that of the original's. The art makes the battles and scenes all around intense and is pretty great on yours eyes to look at. I honestly have no real complaints for this.

Sound - 10/10
As I write this review, I am currently listening to osts from this anime. The ost list is wonderful. Each arc has a variety of osts they really stand out and fit each scene so perfectly, specifically OST 3, which contains osts mainly for the chimera ant arc. Hunter x Hunter does something a little different with the openings. Rather than change it completely every so often like most shounen anime, HxH using the same opening (departure) and changes the version of it every so often. Its quite a decent opening so this difference works here. The endings are also very enjoyable to listen to. The voice actors are really decent and do their characters voice so well; Gon's especially.

Enjoyment - 10/10
I had so much enjoyment watching this. From start to finish I just couldn't stop watching the show. I ended up marathoning the whole show (110 episodes at the time) in just a week. This is a very outstanding show to enjoy.

Overall - 10/10
This show is a masterpiece. From story to characters to art to sound, everything in this show is perfect. I cannot fathom a person disliking this show at all. It's just that good. All in all this series just keeps you on the edge of your seats and I hope that this brings in more people to enjoy the masterpiece I have enjoyed so much.

Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger (Anime) add

Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger, ah this brings me back. Even though most people are probably reading this review after watching the first season, I still must address this note anyways. Yes this is about boxing, but it is about so much more than that. A love of boxing, or any sport for that matter, is not needed to enjoy this show. The Ippo anime will give you an entirely new view of boxing as a whole. I'm writing this review to try and convince at least someone to look past their anti-sport anime list to watch this.

Story 10/10
The Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger ... story has a different approach of other sports anime like Haikyu!! and Kuroko no Basket. The difference boxing has with volleyball and basketball is that boxing is not a team sport. The boxer has to fight for him and what he has to protect. That is why this is quite different from other sports anime. Makunouchi Ippo and the other main characters must fight their fights alone. The story of Hajime no Ippo is about a young man named Ippo and his endeavors to become the best boxer around. However, New Challenger doesn't only focus on Ippo. Many of the other main character have their own fights and their own struggles and that is why the story was so enjoyable. And of course there is also the comedy. Ippo's comedy is always top notch and this is easily one of the funniest animes to date.

Art 9/10
Not really much to say for this except for the fact that it is different from the original series. The fight scenes are well done and thats all that one needs for this show.

Sound 10/10
Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger has an entirely new soundtrack and it is AMAZING. They fit in extremely well with the fights, the comedy, and the training. Another part of the sound to praise is the opening. The opening is one of those openings where you just cant skip no matter how busy you are. It's THAT good.

Character 10/10
In my opinion, characters are Hajime no Ippo's strong point. Obviously, there is our main character Ippo. Ippo has a very weird personally for a boxer. He is timid and shy. He even has trouble talking to the girl he likes. But this changes when he is in the ring. He becomes a fierce fighter and can take on anyone he sets his mind to. Another member of the kamogawa gym, Takamura Mamoru gets a lot focus this season. Takamura is a wild beast. Yeah, that is the best way to describe him. He is a monster found in the streets by Kamogawa and will take down any boxer in the whole word. The other members of the gym, Aoki and Kimura are also very awesome, but what I really love them for is how funny they are. Aoki is my king of comedy and I can't watch a scene with him without pissing myself laughing. The last character that needs focus in this series is Miyata. Miyata is Ippo's rival and has left the gym so he can fight Ippo eventually. Miyata has been struggling to get back in the ring and this series focuses a lot on Miyata's recovery. All these characters are extremely enjoyable and you just have to like em.

Enjoyment 10/10
Ippo is one of the most enjoyable anime I have ever watched. While watching it, I had to actually try to limit myself with the amount of episodes I watched so I could savor it. Ippo is the type of show to watch to put yourself in a good mood. The show just makes me happy.

Overall 10/10
Haijime no Ippo: New Challenger, and its whole series, is a a gem among all anime. The story, the characters, the comedy, and of course, the boxing are taken to the next level in this anime. You'd actually have to be a fool to not check this out. Don't let the fact that it is a sports anime stop you from watching this. Most people who have watched this will say it with me, GO WATCH HAJIME NO IPPO.

Gankutsuou (Anime) add

This is my first anime review and I wanted to write about something I absolutely enjoyed and something I think deserves more reverence. Gankutsuou fit this bill. Gankutsuou is a phenomenal show that I think every person should watch at some point. However, this show is majorly lacking in popularity. My goal from writing this review is to get some people to watch such an underrated masterpiece.

story - 10/10
The story is loosely based off of the novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas. This version is a sci-fi whereas the original took place in the 1800s. The story of this show is, without ... a doubt, one of the best stories in all of anime. Everything that happens keeps you on the edge of your seat and you don't want to stop watching at all.

Art - 9/10
This art is something else. Of course at first, I had the reaction of "what the hell am I watching". But that reaction quickly developed into amazement. I thought the change was sublime and very creative. Something new to the Anime industry that hasn't really been copied before. This art alone should be something needed to watched by everyone.

Sound - 8/10
The sound was definitely fitting to the show. The opening was very memorable, It wasn't amazing, but it was definitely fitting. During the start of every episode in the Japanese sub, they would have a foreshadowing spoken in French which really stood out, one of the many things I loved about the show. And of course the famous ost Kaisho was just beautiful in every aspect.

Character - 10/10
There are three main characters in this show plus a large variety of supporting characters. Every supporting character were very enjoyable, particularly, The three fathers. Now for the main characters. The protagonist, Albert de Morcerf, might have been a little craven or cowardly, but he really grew on me as the show progressed. Franz d'espinay was Alberts best friend and tries to help guide Albert on the right path; to me Franz was a much better character and he still is remembered by me to this day. And finally we have the Count. Without a doubt one of the best characters anime has ever seen. His trickery, his voice, his schemes, his charisma, everything he does is damn beautiful. His character alone makes this show a must watch.

Enjoyment - 10/10
I definitely enjoyed this to the point where I really want to watch it over and over again. I'll be damned if you can watch this with enjoying this even a little.

Overall - 10/10
I think that this show is an underrated masterpiece that should be watched by everybody. The lack of popular really saddens me and I hope that this review will bring some people to watch this show.
