I was scrolling through youtube's home page when I then saw this, and so without realising I guess I watched my first anime of 2023 lol. I found it as a little surprise to see Tom and Jerry as an anime, and while I wouldn't say it's anything like the classic cartoons, I didn't mind what they tried doing here and it turned out to be pretty cute and fun.

little disappointed when I found out that was all it was. If it was an actual mini-season or anything longer than only 2 minutes I probably would recommend and rate this higher

This was really good. The story and character's personality really pulled me in. I felt a connection with the two main characters and it was fun, plus the moral of the story is a good one. It really makes you feel emotional and stuff, but later on when the mum and step-mother start fighting once their daughter had run away, the music in itself just changes the whole genre of the film for a minute, making it less serious and a type of comedy instead of the emotional love story that it was leading on.

And the scene

when they take their masks off to go back to human and cat, it just feels so empty, no sound in the background or anything.
It didn't have the special feeling it should've had, then they just surprise us with the mask seller crashing in. Then they fight him for their face back, with no sound playing in the background either; it just felt too empty and out of place. But when they finally go back to normal, it warms your heart with how the couple comes together and the short story playing in the credits.

Had the potential of being a 9 or 10 rating from me but those few things I mentioned just took that special feeling away a little. Still a great film, just wish the ending had the same impact as the rest of the movie did.
tl;dr: Really good movie, could have been a 9 or 10 but later on I guess the genre sort of changes. The ending made up for it though, and I still really enjoyed this.

I was looking forward to Part 2 since I enjoyed the first season, but this one just didn't.. feel quite the same I think?
This season just felt a bit too slow with unanswered & kind-of sudden things happening. There's not as much fighting scenes as there were in Part 1, and when there is it can be a bit hard to keep up with everything. That doesn't mean the visuals weren't amazing, because they definitely were. And the CGI doesn't feel out of place either,

they did a great job with that.
I was hoping to see more of the Major (Vladilena Milizé), but we just don't get much of her side until the end, leaving more unanswered events when we see her go back to her old room. I think if they had included more scenes with the Major then I would have liked Part 2 more better. You can barely tell that she's a main character here.
The wait does pay off during the last couple episodes though, it was so great to see them meet in-person for the very first time. I'd say the best moments were in the last 2-4 episodes, I just wish the whole season could have had the same emotional level as those did.
86 is still a great series, Part 2 does not in any way ruin it for me, but Part 1 will be my preference out of these two - I loved how they introduce us to their world and each of the characters, the interaction between them and the Major. Part 2 just didn't have as much impact as it did the first.

I kinda wasn't too sure how to rate Mieruko-chan, maybe since I hadn't watched anime in two months, or that I hadn't really seen much anime that take on both Horror and Comedy. But I do think it's somewhere between 6 and 7. Even though it's labelled as Horror, I didn't really see it try too hard to become that, or at least fully succeed in being it. Some of the story is a little over the place too.
I liked how they portrayed the first episode, such as

when Mieruko's phone suddenly acts up, with no answers to know where and why it's happening - I liked how they did that plus a couple other things, it even made my heart start racing haha. But then when she actually sees a strange monster for the first time, there's no reaction other than dialogue of her freaking out inside her head. Which is fine, but to me it doesn't really fit how her state was in that scene. She gets frightened by the messages being very strange and the image that she sees in it, dropping her phone, yet is frozen when that creature appears out of nowhere. I think they should have added at least a tiny bit of a reaction. I am kind of nit picking with this one, and I was interested in her take of how to react, without reacting. In a situation like that I think that thought process was pretty smart, especially under that pressure which does suit her character.
But after a short while, the show just doesn't come close to being scary anymore. You know how most things will play out, that the characters will all be safe, and they focus a little too much on the comedy side which takes away from the horror aspect. And a lot of times it seemed more like a slice of life than what the actual genres are labelled as. The monsters just stop being scary because they never show anything of them actually doing something other than talking and threatening. But that's it. We don't see much of what they are capable of, and it's almost like they can't do anything except wander around while sometimes possessing people (which doesn't come across the way it wanted to since we also don't see much of that).
The interactions of the main two friends are great, I really enjoyed just watching them hang out, having conversations and the places that they go to, with Mieruko's inner monologues. It's always just a fun great time. Her and Hana becoming friends with Yuria was really nice too, again just fun to watch. Yet when there's monsters nearby, again it just doesn't do anything. You see Mieruko and/or Yuria worrying, but in the end you know it's going to be okay.
Some of my thoughts about how this anime could have used all it's potential is by showing what exactly the monsters are capable of, maybe kill off some characters (even if they're just side characters) just to give us the fear from them instead of repeating the situations that we know how will play out. There are some other details that haven't been answered yet, though I think the series is hinting at a sequel also since the manga is still airing, so hopefully they will work on that and give us more of what the monsters can do for the people who are interested. I do wish the series had continued having the same or similar atmosphere as the first episode though.
Anyway to wrap this one up, I still enjoyed it, there were quite a few moments that even just a little bit, emotionally moved me with the characters and how not all of these monsters are what we think of them as which are great highlights. These are just my overall thoughts and if you disagree that's okay. To me I just wish it had done better with trying to be scary, but other than that, again I still enjoyed Mieruko-chan.

A cute, fun and short comedy anime about a girl with anxiety who moves away from her farm to try doing live acting performances to make herself more confident. She stays with a few other girls who become friends and has a great time with them all.
Someone else who reviewed Hinako Note mentioned how this is great to watch when you've had a tiring day and stuff, which I much agree with. It was also great for helping me calm down before going to sleep or getting ready to

go out somewhere such as appointments and meetings.
There were some things that I thought weren't too necessary (some mildly perverted scenes lol), and just a couple times where they have some comedic scenes go on at wrong times or longer than it needed to.
Overall this was still fun to watch, it's nice for calming you down or just to see Hinako's first steps to getting over her anxiety while also having cute funny moments along the way. I don't know if I'd watch it again but either way it was still a nice show to put on when stressed.

Another has a very creative and interesting story that I liked watching, it just invested me with finding out how and why this situation is happening, trying to prevent it / slow it down, and learning more about Mei Misaki together with the main character Kouichi Sakakibara. The atmosphere is greatly done.
Though it kind of gets to the point of just stupid deaths waiting to happen instead of having unexpected & sudden accidents

that we were first introduced with. Maybe that's how it was supposed to be, since things were starting to get heaps more rocky and people beginning to lose their minds in the last few eps, but I think from episode 6-7 and up there were still some moments that could have easily been avoided if at that time they weren't so carefree (which they shouldn't have been).
The art is pretty good, except sometimes scenes will just stay on one angle without much happening. At first there were a few moments where I wasn't sure if the video had froze. Of course not everything can be perfect for certain viewers, but I wish they could have handled some of these things a bit better.
Other than that, I still really enjoyed Another and would love to read the novel some day.

For some reason the 2nd season of 7 Seeds seemed to be more liked by most people than the 1st one, though I have the opposite opinion. Sure the visuals/art is more improved but the story is so slow and pointless compared to season 1 where they're figuring out what's going on, adapting to the situation, meeting and learning about other groups, and discovering the backstory of the characters and the original organisation.
Here in S2 we basically just get the 2 guys leaving their group and wandering around, soon

meeting the main group and hang out with them. Then they all sail off to spend half the season trapped in an old ship they decided to enter, and once they're finally out it's almost all for nothing other than a boring conversation between them. I guess they do try to focus more on the characters, yet even with an open mind while watching the emotional moments just didn't work at all. I think part 1 did a lot better at trying to set those tones when it needed to.
So yeah season 2 just didn't do it for me. I know season 1 isn't the greatest either so you're not expecting too much here, but the series had a lot of potential and at least part 1 had more of a story, with things going on and introducing us to this world, which I appreciated more than just having half of part 2 stuck in a ship.

This is one of my first reviews, so hopefully it’ll be alright and I won’t repeat too many words hehe. I first saw Horimiya back in the beginning of April, and watched it all in one run. It is so beautiful, fun to watch and well put together.
Story: 8
The story is quite simple, but is still enjoyable and puts a smile on your face. The placements/structure of the story is great, except I think the only problem I have that stops this anime from being closer to a perfect score is that it seemed a bit rushed. The manga has a whole 125 lovable

chapters that don’t drag out anything either but tells the story in a more nice slow and steady way. So I wish the anime could have been another 9 episodes or something to include more of the fun little side-stories along the way, and not have everything so rushed, to have even more potential. But still, it doesn’t stop the story from being great.
Art: 9
The art style and animation is unique, and it adds to the quality of this show. It’s very beautiful, and also does well with the funny moments too when it needs to be. I’m not really too fussed when it comes to the art/visuals, so I don’t have too much to say but I definitely don’t have any complaints either, love the art.
Sound: 9.5
One of my most favourite things about Horimiya, is the music. Just really beautiful soundtracks that I’d unironically listen to, absolutely love them. From fun little tunes to very pretty melodies and ambient songs that suit so well with the scenes they’re in. Masaru Yokoyama has done a great job in this anime. Would recommend checking out the OST (vols 1-3).
Characters: 9.5
All the characters are just so great, you first get a little look at the main character’s lives at school, and as you watch you dive deeper and learn more about them, at the same time they discover things about themselves too which is nice. As you continue the series, you understand how the character’s feel and react at different times, and I think you can also relate to them in some way too. I think Miyamura and Hori are such lovable characters that you can understand and have fun viewing how they live their daily lives and progress, getting closer to each other, all from a little coincidence that would later change their life. And ofc it’s not just all about them, we see a little into their friends’ thoughts, feelings and problems as well, letting us know more about them and make them more important and likeable too.
Enjoyment: 9
I think you can already tell how much I enjoy this series (I hope so at least aha), a really nice feel-good rom-com slice of life with such memorable moments that I can rewatch many more times to come.
Overall: 9
Other than the story in the anime being a bit rushed, Horimiya is a very enjoyable series that I personally really loved watching, so overall I rate it a 9 out of 10. Of course, this may not be for everyone, but I think if you come in with an open mind I’m sure this will be just as great for you too. And also, if you did enjoy this I recommend reading the manga as well, I’m about halfway through and love every page of it so far.
