My first manga. :). Okay, so here we go.

Tokyo Mew Mew - we have to save the world.

The plot is really simple. There's a girl, Ichigo, who falls for a guy Aoyama. He seemed to like her from the beginning :). Anyway, while being int the museum, or somewhere, there is an earthquake. She is with those 4 girls she doesn't know, and then BOOM ! She doesn't know what's happening, but she remembers a cat : ) Cool isn't it ? :D She became Mew Mew and got to save the world with help from Ryou, who's pretty hot. She has to find another ...

I believe this was alot of girls first mangas,(And maybe some boys first mangas), including mine(Unless you count abunch I never finished that I only read afew volumes of).

Tokyo Mew Mew is a mix between romance, adventure, comedy, and the ever so popular neko characters.
But instead of all nekos, they added other animals too. Birds, fish(I think?), wolves and monkeys.

I'm glad that the artist decided to use their own style, even if it's only slightly different from the standard shoujo style. It bothers me that so many shoujo have the same style. Without the same artist, I mean.

The characters were nice, but ...

Preliminary (6/32 chp)
I'll be frank: Tokyo Mew Mew is bad.

While the concept is mildly interesting - bio-engineered magical girls save the world - the story itself is shallow, cheap, and flat. The tension in conflicts isn't there because the resolution happens within a page or too.

The magic itself is uninteresting; there's no learning curve, the girls just automatically know what to do. Even in the attacks, there is no variation - each girl only has one move.

I also found the romance - between Ichigo and Ryou, as well as between Ichigo and Masaya - dull. With Masaya, it's simply pages of Ichigo staring at him ...

This is actually a really cute manga. It’s the basic magical girl with a little underlining factor of endangered species. It’s not a bad mix actually in that the characters all have characteristics of the species but sadly it ends there. The girls don’t have attacks that symbolize the animals they were injected with and the colors also don’t feel like they make the cut. For a show that keeps talking about the characters given power from endangered species, they should have put a little more into it. Now that doesn’t mean that I didn’t like the manga. The characters are loveable; the names actually ...

This manga doesn't seem to do anything exceptionally well. The plot is very basic and similar to many other magical girl shows. It's about a typical girl who suddenly gets magical powers and now has to protect the world with a group of four other magical girls. This basic premise isn't bad, but it's nothing special. The issue is that almost everything else in this series seems to also follow this "Alright, but nothing special" -formula.

For example, let's take the characters. All 5 of the "Mew Mews" have distinct personalities. There's the relatable main character, the spoiled and sassy rich girl, the shy girl who ...

(This includes A La Mode, too)

Tokyo Mew Mew has a lot of sentimental value to me as an anime fan. I actually knew that it was called Tokyo Mew Mew before 4Kids licensed it and changed the name to Mew Mew Power. I watched said dub religiously until it got unceremoniously cancelled. Furthermore, Tokyo Mew Mew was the very first anime I ever watched in Japanese, way back in 2005, but to this day, I still haven't finished watching the entire series (I do plan on rectifying this within the next year though). It's also the first real right-to-left manga I ever read and bought ...

Preliminary (13/32 chp)
I started reading Tokyo Mew Mew (omnibus 1) a few years ago and decided to pick it up again recently. I wasnt disappointed, but it does have some flaws too.

The first few chapters are boring, but it gets better over time. The endangerd species fighting aliens is unique but it could have been done better. I really wish they would have done more with the fighting part of it because it usually gets resolved in around like 2 pages which made me more interested in the romance than the actual thing. I could see the relationships with Ichigo and the other characters all working some ...

Ichigo Momomiya is just your typical junior high school student; cute, energetic, and a bit of a clutz. Like any other girl at her school, she has a crush on the "cutist" guy at her school. Unlike the other girls at her school, Ichigo has a hidden secret; her genes have been altered with that of the endangered Iriomote wild cat giving her the ability of turning into a pink color themed cat girl superhero! Join Ichigo as she and four more girls; Minto Aizawa: the "richest" girl in Tokyo with the ability to turn into a blue color themed ultramarine lorikeet girl, Retetsu [lettuce] ...

This is my first manga I ever read with knowing it was a manga. I had a lot of fun reading it when I was younger and I still love it to this day. It may have a lot of tropes that we all know, but it dose it well. If you are someone who is older I wouldn't recommend it. But if you know someone who is around 6-10 I would recommend it. I feel like it is a good icebreaker manga to help younger viewers get in to the community. I love how it wants to help the environment too. My only problem ...

Tokyo Mew Mew is definitely a childhood classic for many today. With the reboot aired this year, I decided to finally sit down and read the entire manga.
Let's start with what I liked. The premise was very unique. Animal magical girls fighting polluting aliens does not sound like a common pitch. And this novelty definitely gives the manga points. And, the art. I am a sucker for 2000s shoujo art with the large glossy eyes and youthful faces. The costume design is cute and while the attack names are a bit cheesy, it's very fun.

However, good art and premise does not make up for the ...

Just a great manga for first-time manga readers! It's easy to understand and a laugh too. Also it has such cute romance in it :3 Great manga! YOU MUST READ IT! ^^

Art: The art is very nice.
I like Arina Tanemuras style.
The cuteness of it.

Story: The story is good. Reminds me alot of Sailor Moon though. But this takes up alot about what is also happening in the world as well currently. There are endangered animals, there is pollution, the oceans..

Characters: The characters are so darn cute. And everything happening is also super cute. The intimate cute moments, loving moments are just aww..
It's just too darn cute to read about and look at!

It's a good manga series. I'd recommend it for people who like Sailor Moon. Because it's a series about transforming heroes with different ...

I was a huge fan of the original 2002 anime adaptation. I remember collecting the manga as a kid, but then when I sat down to read it, I just couldn't get into the series in this form. Now that I finally have made the time to read it, I'm not surprised. This manga gets off to a really rough start.

Between this, that original 2002 anime, and the remake anime that's currently airing now, I have to say that the manga is the weakest version of this story in general. To the point where those early volumes had me impressed that it even got ...
