Synopsis

Kei is a normal--if very pretty--young boy in high school. One day, he falls ill and is taken to the hospital. They find, much to everyone's surprise, that "he" actually has a female genotype even though "his" phenotype is male!! A little bit of surgical work solves the problem, and cool male hero Kei becomes innocent female heroine Kei. And what a female! "He" was cute before, but she is a beauty now. And she still likes girls... (Source: M-U)

This story is about what happens when a boy finds out he is really a girl. It seems that this actually occurs in real life more often than you would think. Even the author reveals in a long note that she had received a letter telling the story of someone to whom the succession of events was almost eerily similar.

There is a bit of disjointed-ness due to the fact that the mangaka had originally intended for the story to end with Volume 1. Due to the urging of many letter-writers, and especially that of a fellow mangaka and good read more

This is about a high school boy who finds out one day that he was actually born female. (Hermaphroditism is the given diagnosis.) Instead of continuing life as 'half a boy', he decides to become 'a complete woman'. The manga follows his change into Megumi & then how she adapts to life, including returning to the same high school. There were a lot of really neat aspects to this story, but there were several times that I felt that the storyline was losing its potential. If this had been a series, I probably would have given up out of impatience but it's complete in two read more

Story about boy becoming a girl
Both series are by the same author, Tsuda Mikiyo. The Day of Revolution is the original story behind one of the Princesses, Mikoto, and helps give more insight into Mikoto's past and his girlfriend, Megumi(who served as a side cameo character in Princess Princess). Both are wonderful gender bending comedies and it's recommended to read The Day of Revolution if you're going to or have read Princess Princess.
