Synopsis

Dr. Katou is an ambitious woman who seeks to revolutionize the corrupt and inefficient Japanese medical system from within by becoming a professor in a teaching hospital. She enlists a maverick surgeon, Dr. Asada Ryuutarou, to help her with research that would catapult her to a professorship should they succeed and publish. However, Asada's refusal to conform to the system soon threatens to destroy not only her plans but her entire career. Katou is prepared to do anything, including going along with the system, in order to achieve her end goal, but she begins to question whether she has gone too far as Asada's actions bring many of the system's shortcomings to light.

It’s a bit of a surprise seeing no reviews when this thing’s been out for 8 or 9 years. I've marathoned through the currently available chapters in English (scanlation in process), and decided to make a quick review since this manga's review section is empty.

But before going on to the main chunk of the review, I think I’ll give a… uh… “slightly” elongated introduction to my personal exposure to Team Medical Dragon.

Team Medical Dragon’s been a very different experience for me, someone definitely not well versed in seinen anime/manga. I used to be a more avid anime watcher, and most of the stuff I read more

Asada, Ryutaro was an extremely skilled surgeon who had worked at a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) however; after the country’s war ended, he came back to Japan and disappeared. Dr. Katou is an assistant-professor who is looking for someone skilled enough to perform a Batista operation [volume reduction left ventriculoplasty] (which has an extremely high mortality rate, by the way) for her thesis and she’d set her eyes on Dr. Asada who has been missing for three years. However lucky for her, she had just caught sight of him.

Firstly, Team Medical Dragon does have an EXCEPTIONALLY cheesy and unoriginal name, I just had to say it read more

Tragic
As a seinen manga.... i would really recommend it... it don't know about other readers but for me this manga is worth the read specially people who have medical background or hospital experience. I share same experiences in the real world, specially about the corrupt part and i think the author really did his research. Art is somewhat good because

it doesn't have to be detailed to be understood..everything is with the story... the art complements the story very well. And it was drawn very well.. especially female characters.

Characters are of course impossible in the real world but as a manga they are very interesting read more

Both these manga revolve around medicine. Though Wild life is medicine for animals and TMD is for humans. TMD is also more concentrated on showing the corruption in a medical university while Wild life is more care free and comical. Both are great medical manga and if you liked reading one of them, you'll most likely like the other too!
Both are medical mangas that expose the darker side of the medical field in Japan.
It's about surgery and whatnot... and the main character's vision is very similar! Ray has the ability to see through people so that's really similar.... no? :D
Both of these manga are about two extremely talented doctors who have somewhat similar personalities, and both of the main characters acts in a way that is thought to be weird by other doctors. Also both of the main characters are thought to be able to change the way of the Japanese medical system. The main difference of the two manga is that Team Medical Dragon is more mature and explores the corrupt side of the Japanese medical system, while Saijou no Meii is more light hearted.
The main character in Piano no Mori (PnM) is what made me feel that the two were similar. These two main characters are both geniuses in their respective fields and they continuously strive to become better and better. Team Medical Dragon has a more serious political tone while PnM is lighter and comedic. There really is no other reason but the fact that after reading Team Medical Dragon, I was really reminded of the main character in PnM. But I guarantee that if you love reading about geniuses and you liked one of these, you will definitely like the other!
Both manga involve practicing medicine. Dr Duo is shonen while Iryuu is seinen (IMO)
