If you're a fan of horror, this is a must read.

I'm not going to try to spoil the experience or anything of that sort, but this manga made me truly afraid and had my heart racing every second.

Some storys were unique, the art was decent, the characters were ok and my enjoyment was at it's maximum, I was constantly wondering what would happen next.

A must read for the horror fanatics.

truly a classic of horror - umezu really hit a home run with this piece of twisted dreamery - reading this is like being stuck in one of those really bad fever (or dope-sick) half-dreams which are nightmares, but you never wake up - the story of a young boy and his sister and the discovery of rusty scissors which leads to a serial killer with one of those really freaky no-face masks who is actually an old lady who gave birth to an alien and she has to provide fodder for her kid who is actually a really twisted looking alien beast and they ... are stuck beneath a cemetery that gets washed away in a river and leads to other stuff i won't talk about yet, so just read it - it will really mess yr. head up (if you like that sort of thing) - art reminds me of those really awesome golden age 1950's EC horror comics about zombies, aliens, and living dead girls with axes - just amazing!!!!!

I've been trying to find some old mangas recently and other than drifting classroom, this is the only other manga of Kazuo Umezu that I have read so far.

Its good in terms of storyline and Sou as the main character feels as he could be utilized in more stories. The artwork is typical Kazuo Umezu i.e the characters with big eyes.

But the stories are also very violent and often sometimes grotesque, for the 80s I can imagine this was seen as "normal" perhaps? And my enjoyment is more of understanding what the audience of the 1980s wanted in terms ... of manga regarding seinen, horror, violence, etc. But I feel this type of manga would be banned or at least be seen as controversial for 2020s.
