To be honest, it's getting far better than I expected. Whoever directed the first episode should be fired, though...

The first episode shall have show some hint about this plot.
Anyway, this episode is better than the previous one. A lucky timing made them meet. Sometimes, having a Mafia walking around can save you. :D

Good episode. Harry is so blatantly set up for a massive fall though.

Ya, Harry is the typical: "MORE POWER-MORE POWER-MORE POWER" guy. Poor Brandon. Well there are some hints on both opening and ending, that it was not only going to be a "kill the monster" anime. Anyway that is the proof that one should give an anime a chance, and not stop watching it after just one episode. ^o^

Tbh, that analogy of the invisible power was spot on. Anyways, hope they find Maria soon, especially for Brandon.

Harry is a prick. We was going to sell out his friendship with Brandon just for a spot in the mafia.

With just coming from Trigun this show doesn't really compare to the quality that show has, we're 4 episodes in and it's not even close to getting good!

Was there a some sort of mix up or why did the mafia boss say to Harry that "you told me your enemy was the biggest guy in town" when Harry didn't actually say anything of that sort.

Kinda distracting.

Very bland episode, the part where the Mafioso comes in and scares those dudes was cool but other then that nothing else really grabbed my attention.

After this episode I have a feeling that Harry will do everything for the power, using Brandon in all the ways is one of them, we all know that Brandon just joined because of Maria...

Wouldn't be surprised if the whole reason Brandon got into fights was because he followed Harry around all the time. That fella is trouble waiting to happen.

The characters expressions and animations, normally the small ones like swinging a bag around, all look really robotic and unnatural. Luckily I don't mind, I'm not an art or animation guy, but it's very noticeable.

That moment where Randy told Descartes boys off was really well done, and I find the way the mafia talks around Maria highly amusing. Words like business, president, negotiate, or how Daddy/Asagi got one of his men to put his gun down. The other little detail I loved was the makeshift gravestones Brandon and Harry made with rocks and a hat on one. Cute, and sad, we'll never forget you guys, or at least Brandon and Harry won't.

I find ED themes are really important weirdly enough, more so than openings, Berserk for instance has my favorite ED ever and I feel it really supports the atmosphere of every episode, creating a sound that resonanates with what's going on and promotes thought of what just happened. This ED is the same way for me, just in a different way, after an awesome episode it ends with super awesome music, leaves me to think about the episode in the right state of mind, keeps the flow going and gets me excited for the next. Really keeps the fire going from start to finish. I think the OP does it's job as well, perhaps a little less due to some kinda boring visuals.

I'm still somewhat glad I skipped episode 1 like everyone says to, everyone seems to really hate it. Episode 2 was my favorite so far, the others have been enjoyable but none came close to how good it was. Again, the Randy vs Descartes squad scene rivaled it, but not really the others.
I wonder if Descartes is actually inspired anyway by Rene Descartes, cogito ergo sum and all. From how he's appeared so far I would doubt it.

This is getting pretty tiring, hopefully we'll get back to the present day before I decide to drop it.

Since the 2nd episode this show has steadily been improving. I like the direction this story is going and the music is simply awesome.

I'm baffled at reading some of the comments about this show. This show is carefully setting up the prices to what we know is building up to happen (there's even been some important clues in episodes past about stuff that's going to happen). But it seems half of the people watching want instant gratification. Very noticeable when you see their favorites.

So is this the story of how criminals get to the top? Not really interesting

Why do people have such a raging hate boner for the first episode ? It's not a massively impressive episode I'll admit but even a cursory reading of the synopsis will tell you where this story is going

Awesome episode. Harry is the turning to be an opportunist, grabbing everyithing presented to him. Brandon, being aimless guy is following with Harry. Nice progression.

Yep I agree they are blindly and blatantly just ranting negative about that episode without any rhyme or reason whatsoever. Even I felt nothing wrong in the first episode.

So now both Harry and Brandon are going to work for the mafia, I'm not surprised that they're totally changing after what happened, but they're going to be way more violent than before

Moving up in the world. That said, organised crime is still crime. Doubtful they'll be in situations any less dire, considering this is a past section building up to what would eventually be the setting of the first episode.

Harry has become ambitious and seeks power and freedom. He is even willing to cut his past ties and move on for that. He planned on leaving the city but then changed the plan to joining the mafia. Meanwhile, Brandon doesn't have all those goals and ambitions.

He says he and Harry are partners, but it looks more like he is Harry's follower. Both times Harry was ready to say goodbyes in a heartbeat, but Brandon can't seem to let go. Not that I blame or hate him for that, though.

I think joining Millennium would cause Harry to go power hungry and this is where things go sour even though it all begin with Mafioso killing his buddies.
