Lol Conan is not even trying to subtle in his hint-giving, he's just going all out. I think it's grandma.

Motive: She knows son (or son-in-law) will be forced to sell due to his financial troubles, so she "hid" it. She probably has some memory associated with the scroll.

I don't remember the solution, so I support that theory.
Apart from the bit at the beginning where Conan and Haibara talked about the APTX, I thought it'd be a pretty mediocre case until I realised that it's great to have cases which are NOT murders once in a while.

That wasn't so bad. Detective Conan just can't have murder cases all the time. Repetitive cases would be too boring.

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!
