Anyone else watch it? I think the part where they went over the artwork scroll that was inspiration for the Mirror Capital in the anime was neat.

It is great to see the seiyuu traveling around Kyoto, learning the history and traditions of the temples and locating the sites which were used in the anime.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

It was an live action episode. It's rare. Nice to see the voice actors and real Kyoto. I liked the anecdote about Myoe's green tea. Also nice to see the origin of manga.

The explanation behind the Windows of Enlightenment and Delusion paints that scene from episode 1 in an even more interesting light

Really cool to see the actual places from the anime in real life

This was incredibly interesting. I didn't know much about the temples or the messages hidden in the anime based on them and the religion so it was great to see some of their culture. The only thing that annoyed me is how forced the seiyuu seemed. Their acting, their words, their "emotions"... /o\ They seemed like they were directing this epi for morons in a few scenes. But ok, I ignored them really so I enjoyed the rest of the epi thoroughly.

Can't wait for next episode now ^-^ The series seems even better than before :3

It made me appreciate the anime even more because there are a lot of details and references that I didn't even know were details and references.

Kinda like a Travel Channel show about Kyousougiga. It really reminded me how much I want to visit Japan.

Agreed, this makes the anime even more meaningful to watch. The most interesting reference to me were the windows. I liked the way the seiyuu explained it, how one makes it seem like a painting while the other one although calm, felt like reality. Knowing this made me think about all the effort they put directing the scenes or choosing the setting.

This was my first time seeing the seiyuu of an Anime traveling and doing activities like they did in this episode. It was kind of interesting.

I was about to call bull on that because I knew that green tea had actually been brought to Japan by Eisai, the founder of the Rinzai school of Zen, who also wrote the first book on tea in Japan, but fortunately I checked before posting my little rant and lo! and behold, he did actually give the tea seeds to Myoue who then cultivated it. Though interestingly his own page, and most of the other pages about green tea do not mention Myoue.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_tea_in_Japan

I also found it a bit funny that the second temple they showed was a pure land sect temple, and the real Myoue absolutely loathed JodoShu. (Eisai for what it was worth actually had to flee Kyoto for Kamakura because of hostility from the established Kyoto sects, this is a historical trend in Japanese Buddhism, which really downplays the "peaceful" reputation).

Anyway, any episode that shows Kyoto is a good episode. A couple of new places I will have to visit next time.

I got this feeling too, they sounded very unnatural, but it was okay, the temples were beautiful.

Some interesting insight.

Anyway, judging by the previews episode 0 is going to be episode 6, if I'm not mistaken?

I was hoping the special guest was going to be Kugyuu! >.<
Quite an interesting ep nonetheless though..

Seeing the places live like that really emphasizes how well the artwork and accuracy of the anime is.

They should do more x.5 episodes like this when the content is educational. I mean a bet a bunch of people who actually live in Japan learned something off of that. Plus it was pretty cool have the VAs host.

I agree with everyone in this forum thus far. Now I have more of a reason to love this anime because I know there's more to it than just the pleasant absurdity of the anime. It's like reading a poem where you realize all the hidden symbolism and meanings.

Looking forward to next episode; I hope they don't take too much from episode 0 because it seems like it will.

I liked as shown in a way, as the anime and manga inica of Kyousogiga, images, paintings and sites, it was all very beautiful and interesting.

I thought it was great to see Ryoko Shiraishi finally in the flesh. I've always wondering how she looked and acted like IRL.

The animation was so realistic this episode.
But, I don't have an extreme interest in this anime. It was nice to see all the locations, but Japanese history is way out of my league. I know nothing about it, and am not interested enough to learn much about it.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing more of this in other anime just to see the voice actors.

The content was interesting.

But i hated the seiyuu who was on the right at the beginning and i never heard "sugoi" that much time in such a short frame of time.

Really, really interesting. I've watched so much anime, but I think this is the first time I've actually seen a live-action of Japan.

I had no clue that such a crazy series had such a deep background.

Don't skip it if you truly like Kyousogiga. This special definitely adds to the full enjoyment of the series. Knowing from where the creators grabbed ideas for the anime is definitely amazing.

You missed out.

I loled when they re-showed that scene with Yase drinking the tea :3

Very interesting, but Erika kind of annoyed me at first by the third day I was used to her and she seemed calmer.

I really enjoyed this I never knew that this anime used so many historical places as it's settings, I have a new respect for it now.

Uhhmm this was strangely awesome. A lot of thought put into the visuals for this anime.

Can I say that I love the fact that Franky's voice actor knows a lot about Kyousougiga and he's not even a seiyuu in this show.
Well I haven't finished the show yet but he's not listed in the cast.

Wow
I enjoyed this, nice knowledge
Such a shame there's no Kugimiya-san, Ishida-san, or even Suzumura-san
At least there's an "Otokonoko" seiyuu xD

Nakayama Erika...
Who is she? Newcomer Seiyuu? I don't know her role even if it's just one

She's an "extra" of sorts. From ANN:

Staff in:
Eiga Crayon Shin-chan: Gachinko! Gyakushū no Robo Tō-chan (movie 22) : Background Art (Atelier Rourke 07)

Cast in:
Future Card Buddyfight (TV) as Mitsuko (Suzuha's maid)
Kyousogiga (TV) as Aide (eps 8-10); Four Devas Member (ep 3); Handmaiden (ep 4); Herself (ep 5.5); Schoolgirl (ep 2); Village Child (ep 1)
Kyousogiga Dainidan (ONA) as female student (ep 1); Four Devas Member (ep 2); maid (ep 3)

Apparently there is a long and a short version of the episode - 40 and 25 mins respectively. The short one has a preview for ep. 6, and the OP narration voiced by one of the female seiyuus. It was nice to see some real places that are featured in the show, especially that Genko-an temple. They even showed the dog prototype for Inuyama-san lol. And the dog was believed to be a reincarnation of Myoue's parent(s), huh.

The only thing that annoyed me is how forced the seiyuu seemed. Their acting, their words, their "emotions"... /o\

Isn't that "normal" for seiyuus? Many TV programs are like this. I'm not a fan of this either though.
