For those of us that live in the US and use streaming services, there are also release dates for dubbed streams that come out sooner than the discs. You may or may not have to pay a small monthly premium to access these streams, though.

Yeah. For everyone's reference, these are the ones I'm talking about:

http://www.funimation.com/
They have a large selection of dubbed anime since they pretty much dub everything for release. NOTE: They updated their site recently, so there might be some parts of the website that don't work.

http://www.theanimenetwork.com/
These guys also release dubs (most notably from Sentai Filmworks), about a month before the discs are released.

http://www.neonalley.com/
These guys don't have video-on-demand, which sucks ass. I haven't used their service since they don't have free shows, sub or dub.

There's Netflix and Hulu but they're not dedicated to anime, and other streaming sites such as Crunchyroll do mostly subbed anime.

Again, I only guarantee these for the US. I don't know how much other countries can access them.

Hulu seems to focus largely on subbed anime, and what's dubbed is mostly obscure titles few people have ever heard of. Between the two, I think Netflix is a more reliable source for anime. They actually have a really substantial collection.

I saw a few clips on youtube, and it was a freaking eargasm.

Upotte!! is getting a dub, I can die happy now. I'm amazed it took them so long to release the series in the US and I'm really surprised they're dubbing it. I guess Girls und Panzer must have done well and they hope to find success with a similar anime.

LOL they're actually dubbing Date a Live that quickly? I'm curious as to how much effort they're willing to put into a mediocre series such as that. I also wonder if they're gonna do the second season, which hasn't even aired yet.

Ecchi anime don't deserve good dubs? Well, if that means having to sacrifice time and money from dubbing better shows then I guess you have a point, but if they can do it without harming other series then what's the problem? It's fucking awesome that I don't have to listen to the same old high-pitched Japanese voice actresses because I have an alternative that wasn't hastily put together by a team such as the one from Sentai.

I wouldn't have considered finishing Sankarea or Is This a Zombie if Sentai grabbed them instead.

hey everyone lets not get caught up in series quality debates
lower popularity series may get dubs sooner because cost of US lisence is cheaper
hence overall cost to produce dub is less …and they may want to capitalize on any popularity the show is experiencing before new stuff comes out to trump it
and even crappy dubs (in those with opinions) is better than no dub (in my opinion)
there is a LARGE amount of money that gets invested in a dub…and unless you or I are invested in any dub companies we REALLY DONT HAVE A SAY
and tell me are there any forums in which these Dub companies monitor in order to chose which titles
get dubbed??

There is absolutely no harm in making a high quality English dub no matter what the quality of said show is. I just wish that all shows had that same good fortune.

Railgun was boss, I dunno what you're talking about. The only character I still can't stand in either the sub or dub is Kuroko--terribly misfit voice in Japanese, and "Sissy" in English (you know what I'm talking about).

Haven't seen Strike Witches or Jormungand.

That reminds me: I hope the rest of the Raildex franchise ends up on this thread soon. FUNimation already has the licenses to all of the main series and the Index movie.

We can probably expect Index II to come later this year

Speaking of Funimation, the Strike Witches Movie has been out since 2012 and they still haven't even picked it up.

Oh, and Sentai just announced their June release slate
http://sentaifilmworks.tumblr.com/post/77914672569/sentai-filmworks-official-june-2014-release-schedule

Samurai Bride will be dubbed like it's predecessor so I guess it wasn't hard to predict. But fucking Amnesia is getting a dub?

I'm glad that Sentai have devised a strategy to keep me away from their godawful dubs by only dubbing the terrible reverse harem shows that I'm incredibly apathetic towards (Or casting Greg Ayres as the lead in the shows I do want to see dubbed) but this sub only trend is incredibly unhealthy.

I mean, it's hard not to think dubbed anime is on the decline when most shows don't even get dubs and half of them that do are Sentai

Well someone has to be the garbage collector. How else are the Japanese supposed to make any more money on the dozens of series people don't care about?

I still wonder how Chris keeps getting staffed as an ADR director with all the piles of shite he made. But hey, at least he's consistently bad, so we know exactly which series to avoid dubbed.

Half of them are Sentai if you ignore the vastly greater number of series and licenses being picked up by FUNimation and Viz and other much larger companies.

Anime as a whole seems to be on a decline for everyone but those big-name licensors. The smaller groups just can't support themselves on sales at this point, which forces them to increase their prices, which results in even fewer sales. It's a vicious cycle that's turning into a monopoly.

ranked# 4423or to love ru at # 1497 and I've seen it on countless Best of ecchi youtube vids ….that i would choose to love ru…
and i just sent an email to sentai today about this same fact …Not to mention GINTAMA rating #7 come-on that should have been dubbed a while ago with that high of ratings …So what can we do as fan and a corporate entity here on My Anime List to help get higher rated shows dubbed vs. lower rated…

I wasn't able to find anything beyond the fact that it's another one of Kurama's fine works (John Burgmeier is the ADR Director). I'm curious if it'll eventually come to Toonami, though, as people haven't shut up about the series for the past year or two.

Considering I'm Australian and I buy most of my anime locally my money doesn't mean shit to Sentai. Madman, Hanabee or Siren and the guys up in Area 11 get my money but Sentai haven't gotten a single penny from me. Unless old ADV releases count in which case I once spent $30 on a US copy of Kino's Journey.

well seibaahomu it seems omitting sentai from your anime diet would severely cut down on your consumption of new shows (whether sub or dub)… but we must each navigate our way …
i definitely only buy Dub mainly for reasons of pure entertainment vs. speed reading while MISSING the action onscreen …so I am happy with most all dubs …. i do think i would like to hear more variety in the voices (it seems the voice pool is smaller than it could be )…i do try to buy ALL THE SHOWS I LIKE (i don't subscribe to any streaming sites) but with half of the shows (i like)per year being subs it cuts into my anime smorgasbord …I've even been buying dubbed older stuff but MAAAAN when highly rated OOP 300 minute series dvds are selling on for the price of new blu-ray top 100 series (like fate zero or SAO) i can't get myself to drop that kind of money ….just to find some of the high priced OOP stuff i dropped 125$ on then comes out 6 months later in a geneon ect. title rescue/re-master for $35…that chaps my arse.. I haunt been to any animecons yet ….for that cuts into my anime video budget to deeply …i just figured that you folks seems quite the aficionados of anime and would have somehow someway devised a way to encourage more english dubs (i guess fan dubs are one of the answers) but they are not pro …. we should keep thinking on this and talk to those in power …i will not give up!!

Pretty much all the Sentai dubbed shows get released here anyway. I've bought Angel Beats, K-ON Season 2, K-ON The Movie, Clannad, Clannad After Story, Bodcacious Space Pirates (Well actually I won this one in a competition), I've pre-ordered the complete Blu-ray collection of Mawaru Penguindrum which will come out next month and will be getting Girls und Panzer when it comes out next week over here.

They might have to pay a small royalty to include their dubs on the releases but all three distributors get most of their stuff directly from Japan (Which is why Haruhi, Gundam, Code Geass, Lucky Star, K-ON Season 1 and all the Bandai shows are still in print).

K-ON Season 1 set me back roughly $20 a volume (Out of 4) when it came out in Australia in 2011. At the moment though I can get the first season as a whole for about $60.

For Season 2 (Which is double the length of Season 1) it cost me $60 per half (Collection 1 with ep 1-13, Collection 2 with ep 14-26 + the OVA).

Sentai just announced their June release slate so about a month from now they'll announce their releases for July. I can't tell you an exact date though. I doubt they'll release a full collection any time soon but they did one for Persona 4 recently so you might get lucky.
