----------------------------------------
A quarter of a century after it was made, this is still as fine an example of anime as you can hope to find. Atmosphere, setting, animation and characterization are all top notch. This was so good that Mamoru Osshii later based his the film Patlabor 2 on this (some changes are made).

It is really only here that the goofball Captain Goto can be seen as the sharp and independent thinker that he is. And Captain Nagumo shows her courage and determination. When the police stands up to the armed forces in front of the HQ, I got goosebumps.
"Perhaps there is a universal, absolute truth. Perhaps it justifies every question. But that's beyond the reach of these small hands." Mamoru Oshii

5/5

Really nice for both the unpredictability of situations for the quality of slice of life shows. Intriguing storyline, and that after a long time did not go out of fashion, it seems still relevant! Narration pleasant.
The OST made by Kawai is wonderful!

What a fluid episode. The animation, music, and plot were splendid. The scene where snow begins to fall was so magical, and Kawai's background music really sold it. This OVA can't go wrong.

I didn't know that. I'm planning on watching it, and I can totally see it's plot being similar to this episode's premise.

nice to see what they do with their days off though kind of sad some really have no where to go. I wonder if shinohara and izumi have something between each other. Maybe thats why her pops left. Looks like we got some underground shady resistance faction here. the leader seems to have some history with gotou. this episode sure has me hyped.

What a fantastic episode!

Everything was on fire with excellence: music, animation, and my favorite part characterization which was simple and straight forward however it worked perfectly and really spoke volumes for all of the characters. It is amazing how a few moments of insight into these officers’ lives can make them seem more relatable and more real!

Also, O////O I noticed toward the end of the episode when Asuma and Noa came to see what was on the tv they were wearing each other’s clothes nice X3 I had a feeling about those two XD

The plot is picking up, nice. Aside from that a really well done episode. I'm genuinely surprised how much soul was poured into this.

Things are getting more serious now.

Everyone in SV2 gets their moment.

All the boys crush on Kanuka Clancy.

lol Asuma reacting to Noa living all the way in snowy Hokkaido.

That ending with that music and everybody assembling is the hypest build-up i've seen in the anime in a looong time.

I must give Jack his jacket! For a production that was done in ‘88 this anime really is holding up. I’m enjoying the overall pacing, characters, free dealing plot and just everything about this ova. This is my first experience watching the Patlabor series as I just bought the complete collection, by my my, I am enjoying it.

Well that was different. The previous episodes were pretty light-hearted but for some reason the shift to a darker tone doesn't feel very jarring, which is a sign of good direction, I suppose. And also, goddamn, I'm falling in love with Kanuka even more now.

This ep had everything it needed to be perfectly enjoyable yet I'm still not connecting with this at all, I just don't get it. Maybe it's the characters or dialogue or something but I can't focus for my life

The last 3 episodes of this OVA are so solid. This is the epitome of what I love about good '80s anime. There's just something special when the animation, music, and atmosphere combine perfectly

Holiday two-parter. Things are heating up - war, romantic tension, potential deaths of some characters, conspiracy. It's cool that the show is able to handle both seriousness and comedy.
