| I really hate the direction this manga has gone - she has no backbone and should have stood up to her mother. I dont' like the mother and I really don't like her either, she is acting pathetic and selfish to the extreme. |

I'm sure the reason she's this bad is because of her mother (who I'm with you on, I really don't like her). Not having the support you need growing up, having your aspirations crushed, and being pressured so much is going to get to anybody, and throwing that on someone who's quiet and insecure to begin with makes it that much worse. If anything, I feel like this manga's biggest fault has been the length of time it's taking for Hibino to achieve any major growth. It trades in the vicious dramatic cycle of breaking up and getting back together of some stories for a cycle of overreactions from Hibino that eventually just leaves you rolling your eyes and flat out calling her an idiot. I get where she's coming from, but I'm getting tired of it all the same. I'm still hopeful she'll maybe show some guts and actually stand up for herself by the end, maybe tell her mother off and go on to live in a way that actually makes her happy. |
