Well your button pics have [url=*] in front of them in the BBcode, they should have links to the stuff you want that the buttons are supposed to take you to, not the links to the pics.

For example http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s399/CrownBeauty1/profile%20peices/cutegirl7_zps352c44a0.jpg (anime list button) should have your anime list link following the url= in the bracket before it.
So it should look like:

[url=http://myanimelist.net/animelist/crownbeauty][img]http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s399/CrownBeauty1/profile%20peices/cutegirl7_zps352c44a0.jpg[/img][/url]

in your code. Thats the anime list button. For your friend and message links, check first post or others many have asked how to get these already.

Post your profile code if you still have trouble, or follow the last section of the video again, it is tricky.

But when I look at your code, you haven't added anything to the anime list button like I said. And you've added URL tags to every image, in step 5 you're instructed to only add url tags and links to the buttons which are going to be links. And the url tags aren't supposed to be links to the original image, they need to be links to anime list and stuff. So you should do step 5 (or start from the end of step 4 when you cut the design up) all over again.

As an alternative do this- enter the pics on to your profile one at a time. You just add the IMG tags not the URL tags. For example the first code you should enter should be

[img]http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s399/CrownBeauty1/profile%20peices/cutegirl1_zps34d8c120.jpg[/img]
then this one
[img]http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s399/CrownBeauty1/profile%20peices/cutegirl2_zps9f326e81.jpg[/img]

These are the top two pices and don't need URL tags.

Then you get to the button for the "Friend me" which is on the next row:
[img]http://i1049.photobucket.com/albums/s399/CrownBeauty1/profile%20peices/cutegirl3_zpsc1d0d802.jpg[/img]

this is a button so it gets the URL tag. You put [url=] in front and [/url] in back of it. Now put your "friend me link" after the equal sign. You can get your "friend me link" from the instructions in the first post.

Just do that for all the pieces, one piece at a time only entering URL tags for the buttons.

And btw after you add a new piece, you should save and go back to your profile and see if the piece is there and in the right place. Then you can do the next part (add a new piece, or add URL tags and link).

had no idea how to do it in Photoshop or any tutorials so went with Gimp.

btw dont know if just didnt find it yet but maybe you can add the size of embed youtube videos to the first post. Some may want to know.

Hello,
I just started to mess around with this. Only want an single layout without links to other places or anything.. and before I put alot of effort into it I just randomly try to upload something fast and see what problems I would encounter. I encountered one thing I didn't like:
Whenever you click on the pic in my about section you open a link to my Photobucket account. I don't want this, any solutions? I just want the image to be there and when you click on it well.. nothing happens.
Thnx in advance :)

@SylakentH: Thanks! I think its "Slice" tool in Photoshop. Not sure.

Sorry I always thought Youtube size was in the front post, that must be some other topic in the pile of BBcode topics lol. I think its 425px355px (hope I'm right correct if not).

@WhiteJoker: I guess you should make the pic in Photoshop then export as JPG or PNG and place it in GIMP, then go to the step about Guillotine (end of step 4 I think) and follow the video from there.

Voodoo: Didn't follow last step right maybe, you don't need URLs in your BBcode if you aren't linking to anything just leave the IMG tags (delete everything else but this below in your About Me design)

Hey Shishio-kun, I'm having trouble linking an image to it's url.

Visual:

I've had the same problem before and just thought it was a bad day. But here I am, trying it out again and it's doing the same thing. I've removed the url from my about me profile for the time being, so it doesn't look like that.

Probably the "!" at the end of the url making trouble, try this link: http://myanimelist.net/anime/18507

not reading the whole topic is nothing to be ashamed of. It is rather understandable, the annoying thing is when people are, asking about stuff that are in the opening post or even worse, written on the front page.

well first of all, what is the deal with all those pieces? I don't know what program you are using but at least in Photoshop you can change the shape of the slices or even simpler start slicing it from the top and make every slice by hand not relying on the automatic process.
Second, you don't have to make all the pics links to photobucket, that might be why your real links won't work.
Third if that is not the case you might have forgotten to close the tag.

1. For the editing I used Gimp in the way that the video showed, but I don't really know how else to do it so I had to make all those pieces...

2. If you mean the [URL=] thing at the start. Photobucket gave it to me like that so do I have to remove all the links manually or is there a way to get the pictures without links to Photobucket?

I'm horribly sorry if my questions sound dumb but I have never really done anything like this ; ^ ;

I could re-slice it for you if you want :) otherwise you go on to photobucket and right click the pics and choose "show picture" and then you copy the url.

In Photoshop, right click the cropping tool and you will find a couple more tools. One of these is the slicing tool. Choose this one and start slicing. It basically works like the marking tool. Then when exporting, simply shift click all the slices in the preview window to save all of them.

Hey Shishio does splitting the images with the Slice tool in Photoshop works the same as in GIMP? I just slice them all, export them and that's it? When I upload them, will they retain their original position or do I have to rename them?

Thank you for your time!

It works exactly the same and all the pieces are numbered, but the actual positioning is done when you you write your img tags

Hi Shishio, I need your help.

Well first I would like to know if it's possible to use this kind of slicing in my about me section because I have a big section on the left and a lot of little ones in the right. This because I want to use a gif in section #02.

And if it can be done please help me arranging the pieces since I still can't do it right.

Yeah you just apply the gridlines as shown in the video over the many parts that need to be cut (where you have blue lines). Will be very tedious but thats the cost of complicated profile layouts. Are you using Gimp and have seen the gridline part of the video that shows how to cut the layout up into pieces? It explains it a lot better I think. Not sure how you'd do this with other programs but Macromedia had a good one but its been years since I used it

I'm using photoshop CS6, and I already have the image sliced in pieces. The problem is how to put them together, since one of them is big and then comes like a lot of little ones and the another big one.

Not sure how. I've already sliced the image exactly as shown in the picture i posted.

Ok I see. There is a new BBCode I know of for MAL "img align" that might make it possible to align your big pics with the small pics. But honestly its probably easiest to export the entire PNG for the graphic you made, then drag it into GIMP, then use the gridlines as shown in the video (step 4 I think?) to split the buttons into parts that will easily match up side by side. It'll be a lot of pieces tho. I split the design from the pic you posted here into pieces with the gridlines in GIMP-
http://i.imgur.com/npYz4Tm.png

..then I would only have to use the Guilotine tool under Image -> Transform to split it up into those pieces. Then upload to a site and post the pieces to MAL. Lotsa pieces tho but thats why you name them something easy to tell them apart for posting to BBCode with and use Photobucket as shown in the video, since PB keeps the name (something like Imgur doesn't afaik)

other thing: click the number of a post to view the link for it and copy it from there, on the upper right corner of it on the blue bar. for the last post everytime, even after new posts are made, not sure how to there's no link like "thread-last-post" afaik but maybe someone else knows it

Ok i'm gonna look in forums for that img align code because it could be very useful, specially since I want to use a gif that takes a lot of space (slice #2) and don't think it can be cut in pieces.

In the mid time I'm using another picture instead of the gif so i can slice and make it work.
edit= I've already done this so check my about me section.

Anyway thanks a lot for your help.

I still need to put more stuff there but after that I'll for for a new signature and anime/manga lists.

I found the link in the mails you get from watching a thread/topic.

Just copy the address of the thread you want and add

&goto=lastpost

This way if you will always go to the last post even if new pages are created.

Don't know of such a tool.

This uses Gimp's Guillotine, not Photoshop. Guillotine is a much better than PS's slice imo. How many pieces are splitting into?

Thank you so much @shishio_kun! Your tutorial helped me a bunch!
Although it took me around 2.5 hours to make this (I know it's such a joke right, I'm horrible at this kinda stuff) I managed to complete it!! ^^

It turned out like this;

But idk if the friend request button works, because when I copied the link it was weird it was like this; http://myanimelist.net/login.php?from=%2Fprofile%2FWelshcake%3Fq%3Dwelshca

And I know the width is 690px but I made it for 640, I don't think it's that bad.

um i watched your youtube video 'about me design and links' and i recently finished step 5 (the part where u send image links) however when i save changes it does not show the overall picture. I was hoping u will look over my code and see whats wrong. It comes up with this when i use it

Moved to the right topic

You're copying the wrong links from Photobucket. I point out the ones to use in the video (leave the annotations on)

You want the codes you post to look like this:

Update us if you fix the problem on your own btw, see club rules

@Shishio-kun is the maximum width in the profile still 690px? I tried to sample a picture but it wasn't the maximum ( had gaps left and right from the center)

It might have been changed (which would be like the fifth time). I might have put the new amount in the video annotation, otherwise, I don't know atm. If someone finds out I can update the video
