Spotlight Character: Goku Son (Dragon Ball) MAL Character Information Page: Goku "Kakarot" Son MAL Favorites: 4279 For the next week I would like to have everyone familiar with this character discuss what they think makes it an exceptional character. What attributes make it stand out in the ocean of interesting characters that exist in the realms of anime and manga. Unlike the other two subjects I will not force this conversation to fall into any set structure. Characters that are nominated typically get here because they are adept at breaking the existing character moulds and defying definition. Because of this freedom I encourage everyone to do their very best to stay on topic and keep any and all debate civil. | Liking Goku is getting as old as Chuck Norris jokes. Yeah, we like him. Most of us had the DBZ fever. Christ, in my school we even interrupted classes to watch it. But it does not mean it's good. Maybe that's why Kai was not as popular as expected. Because DBZ is actually not good. We just thought it was. |

We liked rooting for the characters in their over-the-top action scenes, and I'm sure most of us wanted to be a super saiyan at some point, but it really isn't that spectacular of an anime. I loved it a decade ago while it was playing on TV, but I'm definitely not going to rewatch either the original or Kai... |

| I am actually older than Chuck Norris jokes. When DB + DBZ were broadcasted in my country - I wasn't watch TV, I was busy with this teenager/getting older/opposite sex/and so on-thing, If you know what I mean. So for me it isn't a childhood nostalgia. I just watched DB 2 years ago (and I like it), and DBZ in this year (dropped it, I was totally bored). Anyway I liked the young Goku in DB, but there were better characters. From DBZ I liked the members of Ginyu force, they had style...xD Maybe somebody can say yes to it, if he/she thinks Goku is the strongest character in anime history. Can it be outstanding? I don't know I have to think about it a bit (I never dealt to much with characters...) |

| Hmm..dont take this character light and think that doesnt count..dnt judge him as an idiot or stuff like that..beyond his general actions *dead..alive..dead..alive..*maybe i cant they something clear...Just think about his heart..maybe the major fans think the blood, hate and violence is better..No..its not like this..Think about his way of thinking, friendship, the way he treats the enemies and hope that has for the world....For me, songoku was a true positive model, values, moral and stuff..But..seems like nothing of that counts anymore...So sad.. |
