It seems rare to have a second season announced even before the first one is aired, more so in anime than anything else. I think I'll definitely check this out to see why their putting so much into it. Bored and looking for something to read? Drop by The Ward where you come to get your boredom cured. |

TWGOK second season announcement was leaked IIRC. We've been getting a lot of split cour anime lately. I don't really mind, if I didn't like the first season I could just skip the second one. Won't have to sit through 24 episodes then. |

Yes. It's a new trend. Fate/Zero Rinne no Lagrange Kimi to Boku Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon and now this. > But both Fate and Rinne were set from start as two cour series. In case of Horizon it was based on sell results. Nope. Horizon-2 was confirmed later but rumors about 2-cour started much earlier. |

Now if only Apollon and Zetman get 2-cour adaptations too, it'd be glorious. |

Dalek-baka said: In case of Horizon it was based on sell results. Nah, Horizon was split cour long before the first volume came out. Split cour shows end up costing a lot more than consecutive-cour shows, which is one downside. Instead of buying ~8-9 discs like most two cour shows, it ends up being 6-7 for each cour meaning 12 (Rinne, KimiBoku) to 14 (Horizon). Fate is in boxsets so it's hard to compare. As far as storytelling goes, I don't mind it so long as they handle the end of the first cour well. Horizon did, but I wasn't fond of Fate's cliffhanger. I hope Rinne comes up with something good. Splitting a season helps keep a high level of quality when it comes to production values. I can understand why studios are taking this approach a lot more now. But for the fans it can be a very painful expererience. HEY GUYS BE NICE AND VISIT MY BLOG WILL YA? :D Latest Update: Spring 2011 Impressions (part1) Spring 2011 Impressions (part2) |

Nice, I was looking forward to the first season anyway and now even more. Check out our new Simul Watch CLUB and join if you're interested in watching stuff together with other people online to discuss about it in a more private and detailed matter than the episode discussion subforums can provide. Also the Custom Tags Club, if you like to customize your tags and don't want to wait until the MAL feature is fixed. If Death Note is "chess", LotGH is "3D Chess." - lisnoire Code Geass would be Rock-Paper-Scissors in this analogy. Guilty Crown? xthedestroyer said: Go Fish! |
