| Any individual Macross can be viewed out of order. There is a timeline, but it's not something so important it'll hinder your understanding. |
| Macross franchise is somewhat self referent so you will miss some interesting details but it's not vital for the plot. Although it's better to see at least Macross Zero (otherwise you won't get one whole episode) and check what happened in Macross Plus. Apart form Sheryl's stage catchphrase and few other things you don't need to know Macross 7. |

Most references are either eastern eggs or rather blatant subversions or alternative spins on older events. Frontier is far more unique than some people give it credit for |
