According to Deadline, an adaption of Tokihiko Matsuura's manga "Tuxedo Gin" has been announced. The co-writer of "Night at the Museum", Robert Ben Garant, has been hired by Disney to write the screenplay of "Tux", which will be the title of the movie. It hasn't been confirmed if the film will be in live-action or animated.

Being one of the 5 people who have actually read this series, I can say it's really perverted and won't work as is for a Disney movie. Disney is probably just going to take the basic premise and throw everything else out the window. Get ready for a CG penguin and it's wacky adventures that won't be anything like the manga!

Still, I'll probably watch it when it comes out since I love penguins, and the fact that this obscure manga out of all things is getting made into a movie is so random and kind of cool.

I am sure it's going to be quite different, especially since it's Disney. The ecchi nature of some manga/anime doesn't translate well for the average American.

Reminds me a bit of that movie where this dude dies and is reincarnated as a dog, and then goes back to his family. Always forget the name.

I'm willing to bet it's going to be somewhat similar to that, regardless of how the manga actually plays this premise.

At least the douches at Disney learned from Lion King (kimba the white lion) and didnt made a ripoff of it without telling it.

But since its Disney it will be heavily americanized, toned down and have some dumb american morale-like movie that disney always offer, treating the people that watch their movie as simple-minded idiots like always.

"The protagonist is a young street fighter who falls into a coma and learns that he has lived his life so selfishly that he only has enough karma points to be reincarnated as an animal 15 pounds or less. Trapped in the body of a chin-strap penguin, he tries to overcome the humiliation and rack up enough good deeds to get his old body back and save the girl he loves."

vs.

"High school student Ginji Kusanagi is about to make his dreams come true. He's made his professional boxing debut and is ready to go on the first date with the girl of his dreams, Minako. However, the unthinkable has happened. Ginji is in an accident, and his spirit is seperated from his body, effectively killing him before his time. A (sort of) angel tells him that he can be reincarnated as an animal and return to his body after he's lived out its lifespan. He chooses to be reincarnated as a penguin, Minako's favorite animal. Now Ginji lives with Minako as Gin the penguin and just tries to make it along as a penguin while waiting to be returned to his body."

Without cheating guess which one is Disney's adaptation. Heh... XD

If Disney were to close shop tomorrow, I would be one of the people who would not miss them.
Signature? I ain't got no signature! I don't need no signature! I don't have to show you any stinkin' signature!

Funny, because I was just looking through all my old Disney VHS too. This is honestly the strangest news I've seen lately, hopefully Disney won't screw it up. Hopefully.

They'll probably only adapt the basic premise anyway. I'll treat it like I treat any other Disney movie. Live action: Ignore. Animated: Watch it immediately and love it.

If it's animated this could be at least a decent watch. Probably nothing amazing, but fun none-the-less. If it's a live action I say kill it with fire.

Well, penguins are definitely taking over the world.
Haven't heard of the manga but I might as well try it out, I'm curious to see if this thing has any form of bestiality or anything else weird in it.
And since Disney can't make live-actions I'm hoping it'll be animated.

Haven't heard of the manga either. Seems kinda good, especially with them penguins. A shame that Disney's making the movie, as it sucks so bad.

Just further proof that disney has lost any originality it once had, and they've run out of popular fairy tales and triplicate sequels of them so they are finally giving in and admitting the japanese do story better.

D: Indeed. I was in denial when I first read the title and thought it meant an anime adaptation, because I adore that manga. Why can't you just make your own penguin movie Disney? Huh? Adaptations are fine but come on. Let's see a little originality here.

The style of this manga and of Disney are too different for me to be excited about this. I'm pretty sure they picked this specifically because it has a cute penguin in it. Which is dumb, because there are other anime/manga that could probably be used by Disney and end up completely adorable.

Ah well. I'll try to hope for the best but... eh.

This will probably be a comedy for the likes of Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Ben Stiller.

I'm curious wether they will do that, or go for the younger actors. Either way, the synopsis is perfect for a Disney comedy.

I would so love this animated. Haven't read the manga, but the storyline sounds so cute and promising. But Disney will probably make it a live action or a CGI.
Wish they could just go back to the old days with the animation
