The purpose of this thread is to look at someone's plan to watch list and make a recommendation on what shouldn't be viewed. You may only comment on anime that is in the PTW list only, you may not do this for any other anime on any other section. You must also have personally viewed this, you will not post something based on what you have heard about other than from your own experience. You will not post something on a person you have commented on before. If you do not have anything to suggest against watching with the person above, wait until you find someone in which you can. If you disagree with a comment made on another anime, do not post it here, you can either send him/her a PM or comment on his/her profile. Keep it friendly too, comment in a way that won't make anyone upset. Something like "wtf were you really considering watching this garbage" will not be allowed on this thread.

New rule: it is now optional to skip anyone who does not have at least 12 aired/airing anime that can be found on at least 10,000 members' lists. If they do not meet this condition you can comment on someone above who does.

Thanks for your participation! ^^

Eden of the East.

It starts well... but as it goes on, it gets worse and worse. By the time the movies come around, there's just too much talk with too little things actually happening. Good lord they were borefests. And everyone was disappointed by the ending.

Damn it. Too slow.

Confucius:
White Album.

It actually is more realistic in the way it handles harems. School Days gives you stupid caricatures and an overboard nice boat (see that pun?)
.Well, in the first place it's pretty unrealistic to be able to get two idol girlfriends and some other girls wanting your cock.
But the presentation - boring. I didn't need all this other crap I assume they half assed pulled from the VN.
And that ending! No real closure.

Oh it's pretty, sure, but it's a mess of plot and character. If you want to see relatively the same series executed properly, watch Eureka Seven.

OreKano - It was boring as hell and generic to boot.
"Oh no I have a loving boyfriend"
"C'mon anal sex is not cheating"
"Oh ok"
"How about normal sex, you know you love it"
"Oh ok"

I didn't care about the weak "protag" (really the man forcing her to cheat seems more like the protag). I didn't care about the girl (she was stupid and weak, not even a smidgeon of intelligence present). Yeah, lol going into porn with expectations, but still.
If this becomes a drama about a couple splitting apart due to various extrenal forces it might become good.
So far it sucks aside from clean art.

@Suzune-chan - Out of whats on your PTW and what I've seen, I'd say Star Driver (even though I did give it a 7). The entire series is very repetitive. Every episode is pretty much the same. Heck, you'll probably enjoy the transformation scene but after a while, it'll get pretty annoying and they don't shorten it til literally 3/5th of the series IIRC so you'll end up with tons of recycled scenes. Oh and we can't forget this scene in a certain episode.

@Forest-Kun Your PTW list is pretty fair, although I haven't seen the majority of them. One thing though, if you're going to watch Haruhi Suzumiya (2009), I would recommend that you skip the Endless Eight arc if possible. It's just a waste of time. Besides that arc, it's a pretty good show.

@Ffwah:

RahXephon is often hyped as "Neon Genesis Evangelion done right and without budget problems." However, I found it to be boring, needlessly convoluted, lacking in raw emotional intensity, and ultimately disappointing. It looks and sounds great, but it also becomes something of a harem anime by the time it's over.

Wouldn't skipping the middle 6 of the E8 mean that the general idea of the E8 is received without watching 8 episodes be better than skipping the whole deal? Just sayin.

Yes, even though it sucks, I get this feeling that you have to watch it. Sure it seems like a waste of time, but well, I don't really fault them much for doing that. I mean that was the point of the whole Endless Eight arc.

Kamisama Dolls. I'm up to date with it so far, but it's pretty damn mediocre.

Direction is often terrible and the cuts are jarring, the characters are generally annoying, plus there's multiple instances where there's a sad and/or serious scene which suddenly has some attempted humour out of nowhere and it really breaks the mood.

Frankly the only reason to watch it is the occasional cool doll fight and the OP/ED, and even then I'm getting bored of it.

Personally, Da Capo infuriated me to no end. In fact, when I see Nemu, or whatever the main chick's name is, I want to rage. I love Eroge and I (normally) love anime based off of them. I found that Da Capo just fell flat and was the worst Eroge inspired anime I had ever seen.

If you have read the Manga for Peach Girl, I suggest not wasting your time watching the anime since it's nearly verbatim what the manga was. I LOVE Peach Girl, it was my first manga series ever. I bought every last book as they released in the US. I still don't suggest the anime.

I've heard terrible things about Monochrome Factor, but I can't judge since I've never seen it myself. My friend keeps picking on me to watch it since I apparently love "terrible yaoi animu," so that's all I have for you there.

I know that was more than one, but oh well. :3

Mobile Fighter G Gundam
Monochrome Factor
Needless
Oh! Edo Rocket
Seikon no Qwaser
Starry☆Sky

You mostly have currently airing sesies, so I'll comment on one. Dantalian no Shoka has poor plot development and uninteresting characters. Then again, we're only 4 episodes in, but from those 4 episodes, it isn't a very good show.

Wow, lots on your list and quite a lot of good stuff too! But if I told you to avoid just one thing, I'd say you should avoid Higashi no Eden. I'm not even entirely sure what genre it was supposed to be, maybe political thriller to some degree, but everything it's done has already been done better both before and since. For me, EotE is the very definition of "wasted potential", since its animated beautifully, has a pretty good soundtrack, and they did some great research on what DC actually looks like, and it has an interesting premise so that's all there, it just wastes its time meandering around the story never living up to its full potential. Can't say the characters really did anything for me either, I found the girl to be pointless. I honestly can't comment on the movies since I didn't care enough after the main show to watch them. For me, Eden was a massive waste of time, don't waste yours.

I would say DenpaTeki na Kanojo. Maybe not so much avoid, but you might want to go into it with a "so bad, it's good" mindset. Many of the scenes in that anime and the way they were timed were unintentionally hilarious to me.

Also, don't bother doing mine. I already know which anime you would say.

Lol, right you are that I'd say that you should avoid Gilgamesh like the plague, it really is the worst 26 ep series I've ever seen, there's no two ways about it. Now that that's out of the way though since you knew I'd say that one, I will pick another one. A bit of an odd choice coming from me, but avoid the Futatsu no Spica anime, but read the manga instead. First off, the anime only covers about 6 volumes of the 16 volume manga. In addition, the manga has a lot of chapters that take place with young Asumi that aren't really given as much time in the anime that are still really really good. The anime told me that I'd like the manga when I heard Vertical announce their license for it so I knew to pick it up right away, but in terms of overall quality, there's just no contest, the manga gets better every single volume while the anime stays well above average the whole time but is nowhere near as ground breakingly amazing as the manga. You're honestly missing out on how good a series this is if you just go with the anime here. If you don't buy manga much, my library carries Twin Spica, so check there (not sure how UK libraries work, but Book Depository surely carries them and starting from vol 7, the volumes are longer, containing more than one Japanese volume, but still US$11 per volume, so it's not even overly expensive. Vertical plans to publish the whole thing in 12 volumes, just four more to go!)

This was easy. I wouldn't reccomend IS: Infinite Stratos. A lot of people like it, but I don't. It was a struggle to get through, and I regret watching it. All of the characters are overly cliched, and I only like one out of the entire cast (Charlotte, everyone's favourite, apparently).

It's another typical harem show, one sweet, stupid-as-hell boy surrounded by many, MANY girls who offer little to the show other than fanservice.

As for the actual plot, I was a little confused in the end (but maybe I'm just stupid), and there wasn't much to follow beforehand. It may have had the potential to be a cool mecha/action/fight show, but it seemed uninteresting to me.

Overall, nothing stood out, and it was a pain. I would not reccomend it.

Man, I saw a lot of really awesome stuff on your PTW list! You should get around to most of them (Princess Tutu for a more successful darker magical girl show if Madoka didn't do it for ya, Madoka didn't quite do it for me either)! (also you dropped Basilisk 1 ep in, before anything worth noting happens, and I'm a pirate, not a ninja)

But if there's one thing you shouldn't watch, it's Le Chevalier D'Eon. I've only seen the first two eps (within the past week, btw), it's pretty much a mess from a story and character standpoint, and this is only two eps in! And these aren't just "establishing basic stuff" eps either, I seriously thought I'd started halfway through the series or something. I'd avoid it like the plague.

Hmm, Denpa Teki Na Kanojo is not exactly the best OAV around. If you're a horror fan and/or want something similar to Higurashi, try it, but I wouldn't call it a must watch.
As for Karekano, it's a must, but the first half is awesome, the second part is dreadful. Watch some episodes, and if you're not into it, you can drop it and read the manga, which is much better.

@RenaPsychoKiller So much on your PTW. Organized it by "High" Priority.

I would not recommend Ookami Kakushi. Pretty much the 1st half of the series is pretty much pointless and nothing serious really happens til the 2nd half of the series. Regardless, the show is incredibly slow paced. Out of 10 reviews. Only 3 of the reviewers scored past 5.

/ninjad.

@IllegalCyrus Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny. The first one is fine, but the second season will pretty much degrade your opinion of the first one, unless you don't mind a full cast of emo characters from start to finish. Even at finish, majority of are still emo.

Hmm, gonna go with Karas. It's pretty, but not much more. The first half is fairly solid, but then second half introduces pro-nature/anti-huamn motivations out of absolutely nowhere, like the writers wrote themselves into a corner and just went with that, making "disappointing" be all too kinda a word for it. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, except for 3 hours of great animation+CGI masturbation, you might as well watch it without subs and just enjoy the greatest part of it if you do watch it.

@IllegalCyrus
Tokyo Mew Mew. At least going by the manga, it's the most stereotypical of the stereotypical magical girl genre. Coming off of Madoka you'll be especially disappointed. Really, there's not a damn thing special about Mew Mew in the end.
